Brazilian here, and a tiny little bit gutted with Drugovich being dropped. But also very glad because Franco does deserve it. Also, it is great to see the enjoyment of my fellow Argentinian neighbors. The flair of this magic corner of the world is very well represented with Franco and the Argentinians. Hopefully he can score a couple of points and make this party even bigger

He also had trouble with money to get into F2. A lot of argentinian people went around twitter asking big argentinian brands to sponsor him. Even a music producer got involved (BZRP, or Bizarrap, you can see his logo on the visor of his helmet). Thank for doing this, it's great to know more about his first steps in single-seaters. I've known of him only since he made it to FIA F3.

I watched him live for the first time in a Spanish F4 Race in Navarra in 2019. Despite it was only his 2nd race in single seaters, he dominanted the field, and later on the championship. Since then, I decided to support him, even when he only had 1.900 followers on Instagram (before the boom in Argentina) and wore a flat carbon fibre design on his helmet because of money. Now that I know he has reached F1, I just can't hide my smile and I live his dream as it was mine.

So Argentinians fans made a # on tw to try to support him( #FranColapintoaF2 ) and we got him a ton of sponsors to notice him and support him. He’s very special to us the Argentinians, bcs he has this charisma and raw speed that makes u drawn to see him succeed in this sport❤️

Great video mate. As an Argentinian I've been following Franco's carreer for years and you did a great work showing that a) he's better than what his Wikipedia page results section shows (as you mentioned, he had his fair share of bad luck) b) the struggle it is for a driver from a country in a deep economic recession for a decade to get sponsors and financial backing to fund their career, especially in junior formulas. It's impossible and kind of a miracle he got where he is now.

To his credit, Josh always makes a video that lets us know that every driver on the grid has always earned a shot. They may not be the next Verstappen, but they've always showed success in junior formula to at least be worth a crack even if it doesn't work out. We like to make fun of drivers who aren't the very top of the tree, but that still leaves them better than 99.90% of all drivers, and they deserve that respect.

I would like to add a detail at 6:50. The week prior to the race, a motorsport Argentinian legend called Juan María Traverso had passed away. He was known for being crazy and sometimes reckless while driving. In honour to him, Franco put the name Traverso on his car (you can see it near the headrest). So we like to say that Traverso possesed him in that moment to make the move. He continued with the name on the car until he was promoted to F1. I'm still unsure if he kept the detail in his new car or his helmet.

A key factor that we are forgetting here are the social media campaigns after his season finale in F3 last year, since although p4 was not a bad position, the money to get to F2 was not enough for Franco, as he confessed. Given that, in Argentina there was a massive campaign on networks with the hashtag "#francolapintoaf2" and in that period, people managed to attract the attention of famous companies, famous local streamers, media and even Bizarrap, the Argentine producer who worked with artists like Shakira and who would be key to providing Franquito with contacts to be his sponsors, in fact it is thanks to him that Colapinto received the necessary capital to raise Williams, also, as a color fact, during the days when it was not known who would occupy Sargeant's position at Williams, "#francolapintoaf1" was launched, which became top 2 in global Twitter trends. As has already been made clear, this was not just Franco fulfilling his dream, but it was an entire country pushing to make his dream come true, as well as their own dreams.

Just looking at this comment section, nevermind the video detailing exactly why, it’s really apparent - mostly thanks to the very passionate Argentinians - that Colapinto deserves his place in F2 (and F1) a damn sight more than legion of Sean Gelaels, Nicolas Latifis and Lance Strolls that we’ve had over the years. His dad doesn’t own the country’s KFC franchise, nor Canada’s biggest export besides maple syrup nor an entire racing team just for starters.

I respect the backfield drivers for even making it to this point, even if it's clear they can't compete on the same level. While it was pretty obvious Logan Sargeant simply was not good enough for F1, the very fact he got to that seat in the first place is truly impressive, given there's only 20 in the world. Admittedly, I didn't know anything about Colapinto until after he was being elevated, and videos like this helping me understand his journey for his opportunity is very much appreciated. Among all the talk of Bearman and Antonelli who themselves are amazing young drivers being given a chance in F1, it's fun to learn about other immensely talented young men who aren't talked about as often. He even did decently in the last race, I believe! Respectable finish just outside the points, making Williams seem like a real midfield competitor. Sainz is my favorite driver, so while unfortunate, I'm excited to watch Williams next year, but I hope Colapinto makes the most of this opportunity and perhaps finds himself as the reserve driver and/or a seat elsewhere on the grid in the next couple of years!

Can't stop shedding tears ever since the announcement was made. This video didn't help. I've been following his career for a few years and had a feeling that it might, just MIGHT happen... And it did. Sure, it's just half a season, but still. He has the chance to prove himself AND now he has the money behind him... It's all in his hands now.

Colapinto has champion potential, his adaptation is incredibly fast, he handles everything that is put in front of him, he is really fast, technical, reactive, his current problem is his greatest virtue, and it is the hypercompetitive internal beast that he must tame to avoid making mistakes However, it is not his characteristic to crash, it has never been until his last races, all his competitors recognize that it is hard to battle with him, but clean, even though he is a rookie. If I talk about how much he has endeared himself in the pit, his mechanics can't stop firing him. His charisma is star-like. Colapinto is here to stay, for the good of F1, which didn't know it needed him until he arrived.

6:05 From some angles and some photos....guy looks like Senna. Scary stuff. If he even has a quarter of the raw talent Senna had he is going to be an amazing addition to F1 if he manages to get a permanent drive

I’m in American though I am very sad for Logan, it just wasn’t working. You can’t cost a team $3.8 million in repairs and think you’re going to keep your seat the whole year. I feel he’ll find another seat probably in Indy or something else. He is a good driver he’s just not at the level that needs to be on the grade. A few years ago, someone of his level could do pretty good and make points but the level of the drivers in the field is probably the highest skill level we’ve ever seen when it comes to the whole grid. 40% of the drivers currently if they had the right car the right set up in all the numbers lined up they could win the race. I just never for the long-haul thought Logan could do that. It’s unfortunate because I want a strong American in the sport.

I mean, that's great for Colapinto and all, but that exact same video could have been done to any mid-fielder in F2. Some success in very junior classes, then you have a bunch of misfortunes, but than 1 or 2 very good races or moves. Ta-da! Martins, Hauger, Aron and even Hadjar could fit the same bill.

Some extra info: He and his dad traveled to Europe with the mentality of: Lets do it until we run dry of cash, eventually after running out the team offered to pay for Franco's stay, but Papa Colapinto would have to go back to Argentina. Imagine being 14 Years old on a foreign continent to follow your dreams. And his F2 debut wasn't set in stone, until the last minute he was looking for sponsors until BZRP (Bizarrap) an Argentinian music producer, offered to sponsor him on his F2 campaign after Franco put out a tweet looking for financial backing. Him being in F1 makes every Argentinian proud of seeing just how far their boy went
