I always thought that the witchblade is sort of perverted from how the Gauntlet's gender is male and seeks a female host. However, it makes sense that because its parents are the embodiment of light and dark that it seeks to be balance in that way.

My first experience with Witchblade wasn't even the comics, it was actually the anime based on it from the late 2000s. That one had a very different story from the comics and it was a lot more sexualized...😅 The original Comics ever FAR better story though!

The witchblade is not actually violent, it is possessive and the symbiosis with its host could be better interpreted as a marriage. In the eyes of the witchblade, when you are bonded, you are married to it. And it is a VERY jealous and spiteful partner.
