I first met Jesse During the time period when Welles was touring with Greta Van Fleet. I was blown away by the talent that Jesse possessed, and started attending Welles shows around Nashville as much as I could. Jesse and I were on a first name basis at one point, but i haven't spoken with him in a few years now. So glad to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves. I thought it would've happened YEARS ago.

I was kind of buddies with him back in college in Arkansas ‘12-16. So I can clarify a couple things. His bands Dead Indian and Cosmic American were both based out of NW Arkansas. Welles was formed after he signed with C3 records. And I believe he worked at the factory between Welles and releasing his solo stuff as Jessie Welles.

WELLE DONE!! I was fortunate enough to stumble upon his music in Cosmic American a year or so ago and I really loved how he sang so laid back and smooth on “Can you ride” when he hit the guitar solo I was all in. The solo surprised me because of the juxtaposition against his singing style. Then I found his videos for “Seventeen” and “Life like mine”. They are pro shot videos that look expensive. I have been in southern rock bands my whole life so that’s why I liked his stuff I guess. I know what it’s like to work 8 days a week on your band and the struggle to be successful so when I saw his folk stuff take off I was truly thrilled for him. He is not controversial in my opinion, he’s just being honest in what he feels. It’s ok if you don’t agree with him. I hate this “one and done” system we have on social media. We never forgive and we never forget. We can’t wait to cancel everybody. ITS OK TO DISAGREE!! He’s not hurting anyone and he knows that. I hope he keeps em coming. He deserves this success. Great video!

Thanks for the little intro to what you think about Jesse. May I pose a question about your assumptions about his personal life through song. Why do you think they are autobiographical? A song is a story fact of fiction embellished or raw. I often would think I knew something about an author by his work until it was revealed to be otherwise. Remember it is a story with music..
