That is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. I remember going to the theater when I was 13 and seeing it and I’ve loved it ever since. I’ve introduced it to all of my kids and they all love it as well. If we ever see it’s on we watch it and we will do searches for it a few times a year to see if it’s available to watch on the cable or streaming services we have.

I didn't see that movie until after I retired from the navy, so it had been out a while. before, I was gone a lot. anyway, I was blown away!! the water tower scenes made me laugh and cry at the same time. there was so much "meat" to that movie. I had to watch it several times - but by myself - because it was emotional, and I've got to be a tough swamp cat. lol. on a sidenote, I experienced the same revelation about Brad Pitt when I watched 12 monkeys. he was brilliant in that movie.

I knew when I saw the Trailer for the Revenant that Leo would win the Academy Award, as well as the picture itself. I didn't go to the movies to see it, but I bought it sight unseen as soon as it came out on DVD. As I knew it would be, Leo's performance zoomed past amazing to astounding, to riveting, and a host of other adjectives that fall dismally short of what I saw on that screen. It was almost eerie watching him as if I was getting an unsolicited view of the character's soul. I'll never forget it.

His intensity, and the depth of commitment he has brought to each role is impressive, and I think the Academy sold him short for a long time as just another pretty boy. Then let's hope he isn't flying all over the place. Otherwise it's hypocrisy. Let's see, he grew up poor. Surely his mother sold him out to escape it. Disgusting 'parents'

@@AS-wj1du it's not up to the parents if a child becomes famous. They can help them, but they have to have true talent. If u watch astrology channel, he and many other "stars" had a sun conjunct venus. It's a sign of the lime light working for you. In the end stardom is probably not what it's cracked up to be, or why would so many of them have their lives going to pot? Only the ones that don't sell their souls seem to make It and really find happiness in their lives, and those are usually the ones that help others too. Also fulfillment of life's purpose is usually more important than superficial materialism to evolved souls. To me, it's like we're being duped, like it's a sin to waste a piece of paper, but bombs destroying the earth and other people go so unquestioned, so we can have our comfortable lives. I guess your findings show that none of us here on earth are perfect. We all here on earth learn and grow. We can either help each other, or make it worse for ourselves. @@lestiepops69 It proves that none of us are perfect. Its just a matter of degree. What about all the people that elected DT, and with all his power, didn't even pretend to give a shit about the planet? Most of the people I knew that voted for him were just paranoid about the economy, and were just happy to get a little more money. into their pockets. They also had domination problems, and if you worked with them, it was like a social pressure to not speak up about the Insanity. I told them, I would not elect a sexist like that for any amount of money. That is always bad news, and we all end up losing more of ourselves in the long run. It's not about haters hating. We can't like everything the same. I don't think it was one of his best roles, but that doesn't make me a hater. Disliking movies he's been in, doesn't change the appreciation of his acting talent. It's sad that a majority of people nowadays consider everyone haters, who have a different opinion and/or don't agree with them. It's so shallow.

What's eating Gilbert grape to me was the absolute best for Leo and Depp.for Leo the role showed his extreme talent. He brought the reality of disabilities his character had to an exact feeling of, we were seeing a real challenged person. I felt it even more so as my youngest brother has cerebral palsy and other challenges. Though living in the strict house hold we did. My brother never escaped and got himself into situations as Leo's character did. Also for all his amazing roles in other movies, I am dumbfounded as to why it took so long for him to get that award statue! Makes me wonder what politics are involved in getting that thing. My opinion is that statue is meaningless. Especially when we see with our own eyes how amazing his talent is, just look at the hoards of fans!! Speaks for itself. A statue collects dust, fans keep you moving forward and show real appreciation!!
