This video explores the abilities, powers, and origin of the Marvel Comics character "Bishop." From his origins as a mutant Aborigine of Australia in the alternate future of Earth-1191, growing up in the mutant camps of America in the wake of the Six Minute War and the Summers Rebellion, being trained to effectively use his superpower of energy absorption as well as various armed and unarmed combat methods, becoming the leader of Xavier's Security Enforcers (XSE), jumping to the Earth-616 timeline to continue the fight against mutant criminals as a part of the X-Men and being a law enforcement officer in the mutant slums of District X, playing a role in the Marvel Civil War as well as the M-Day and Messiah Complex storylines, temporarily wielding a powerful cybernetic arm during his long time-travelling feud with Cable over the fate of Hope Summers, to eventually making peace with both Hope and Cable; Let's take a look at this time-travelling Marvel superhero, and the X-Men's powerful mutant police officer from the future. I think the X-Man movie he was in with the super Sentinals did him dirty. He should have been far harder to kill. The super Sentinals should have taken a LOT of losses before they adapted to not using any energy against him and kept swarming him with super Sentinals until they depleted his stored energy and then killed him.

Bishop deserves to be a major villain in an X-Men movie where he's forced to stop the bad future from happening by having to commit an evil act. But later the X-Men show him a better compromise and he does a heel-face flip and joins them.

Bishop's character was really good right up until they had him shoot Xavier. After that I don't feel like they knew what to do with him. It's been implied he's aborigine but he's never quite drawn that way nor has any casting presented him that way (video games, TV, or film). I believe at one point it was even implied that M aka Monet was his grandmother. They typically draw him as a Black guy of Sub-Saharan descent so I don't think any clarity is given to those working on the character. So he's an ambiguously Black Guy. The same is true of Monet.

I bought the issue he debuted in from a SuperX. His mullet threw me off and I never really gave him a chance. I had almost nothing but negative interactions with mullets for most of my formative years. My favorite unsung mutants have always been Warpath and Multiple Man. Gateway was also a major part of my early introduction to mutants. I miss when Gateway would just show up sitting on a rock and the X-Men were like: Well, guess we're going on a field trip. Or Gateway would just drop someone off and then just peace out like: Deuces, I gotta go. I did my part, tag, your it.

Did you know that originally, bishop is a filipino character, but the editor in chief of marvel want a black bishop because of the increasing number of black xmen enthusiast. Australia wasnt his homeland. Whilce the filipino creator made him black because in the philippines there are a lot of black aboriginal filipinos. Even afro filipinos.
