Well someone can get through their entire life without hearing about many, many things at his age. Try and remember that and encourage his curiosity and help him understand how really great, much of our past was, and maybe his generation will keep it going. It's simply the best, learning about our past. Peace. 🙋☮️✌️🎅

Queen is: Freddie Mercury-piano/vocals, Brian May-guitar/vocals, Roger Taylor-drums/vocals and John Deacon-bass/some back vocals...they formed in the 1970's, they are a British band and you've heard their music in movies, t.v.shows, sports, games and commercials...WE WILL ROCK YOU and WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS are just two of their songs...this video was the first of their kind, no auto tune in the days of Queen....all four members wrote songs, so there is a versatility with their music...check out SOMEBODY TO LOVE, live at Montreal....

"Rhapsody" is an ancient word that means "songs stitched together". In music, a rhapsody is a free-form piece that takes different tunes and strings them together. However Freddie Mercury when he wrote Bohemian Rhapsody envisioned it like an opera. His Rhapsody has basically 3 parts: the crime, the judgement and the escape.

Queen was "the band" at the first Rock in Rio in 1985. Did the "show" at the Live Aid even with all other bands and singers, but they were the one who, until now, is remembered at the Live Aid. Yes! Thank you for reacting to this so quickly. Obviously the performance speaks for itself. This band paved the way for experimentation in rock music and videos. The list is endless of the very best of the best guitar players who was determined to take a shot at playing the legendary guitar pieces from Bohemian Rhapsody. It's more than their name that suggests royalty. Every generation from the 70's on has discovered Queen and been awed by what they see and hear. Their us a whole string of KZbin videos of choirs, workshops, people at conventions, large business weekends, you name it and they gather together to sing this iconic song. There are videos of giant crowds in stadiums singing this while waiting for a concert or sports event to begin. One of my hands down favorite videos is Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981. Freddie's vocal runs are insane and it always brightens my day to watch it. Like Pentaholics, Queen fans are DEVOTED, enthusiastic and will eagerly share unlimited bits of history and trivia to help you understand what made the band so special. For me- I love Queen, I love PTX so it's a win, win situation. You react to either of them and I will be here ♥️

This will be the start of a mind and music blowing experience! The posters here have given you great information and advice. My advice to you as you expand your world... 1} For a lot of Queen music you should listen to the studio version and any live performance next. That is a chance to experience the difference that is Queen live and improving on what you find so mind blowing to begin with. 2} They are multi-talented and the songs that Brian and Roger sing are gems in their own way, because of the out of this world vocals of Freddie you will find that either one of them could have been a lead vocalist on their own. 3} Lace them up, because it's going to be a hell of a ride!

One of my favorite things in this world is seeing people experience Freddie Mercury and/or Queen for the first time. I feel extremely blessed and spoiled to have been able to grow up listening to this group in the 70s and 80s, while Freddie was still with us. The best Queen is live Queen, especially their Live Aid performance. And that was Freddie on a BAD day, since he had health issues with his throat going on at the time. And here, 30 years beyond losing Freddie, he's still wowing people. I agree with one of the previous commenters here... if you go down the Queen/Freddie Mercury rabbit hole, you definitely will not regret it. I highly recommend it, seeing as you enjoyed this masterpiece so much.

Please check out some more, and their Live performances were amazing. May I suggest Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow or One Vision live at Wembley. I was 10 when this song came on the radio & been hooked ever since. Their music & most of the music from mid 60s thru the 90s or so was meant to be listened to with headphones. Ppl spent big $ on large component stereo systems.

My 1st time watching you, dude & Im subscribing! British band Queen is my #1 all time favorite classic rock band & Your reaction is classic! Too much 4 me to type, but may I suggest you do some reading (& tons of listening) on this amazingly talented band, starting w/ lead singer Freddie Mercury, then lead guitarist Brian May, who has a PhD in engineering & designed his own guitar! Freddie, sadly died too young, on my bday in 1991, from Aides, wrote this song, which is on the 1975 ‘Night at the Opera’ album. Listen 2 the entire album! Yes, Queen has tons of #1 hits, & is popular around the world. I too, gotta move & groove & dance when Queen is on! Queen is my happy place, my Happy music! Because of Freddie, Aides awareness, understanding & compassion came to ‘light’. God bless his beautiful soul! As he has blessed us w/ his beautiful gifts of music. ☮️

Loved the reaction! To answer your question about who hit the high note at the end of the operatic section it was the drummer Roger Taylor! He has a great falsetto. Freddie Mercury the lead singer is magic! He can sing anything! Well worth exploring their catalog and some of their live performances. Live Aid performance is a must!

This group and this song, in particular, have been scrutinized, dissected, torn apart, and put back together again so many times, it is amazing the song has lasted this long. It was far too long of a piece for radio, not "rocky" enough for the "hippies" at that time, and contained far too many genres within a sing piece to be popular. Then along came the movie Wayne's World and everything changed. The popularity of this one song and of course, the group, took off to extreme proportions that no one could ever have imagined. I like your review because you enjoy the real part of the music that makes it what it is and that is how the sounds move around inside your head, back and forth, side to side, up and down. Thanks for being honest about this one.

Queen is my favorite band and my first ever concert experience when I was about 15. Because of some bad blood with the MTV folks, they stopped touring America. I caught them on their last tour of the US. There are so many hit songs. The Queen river runs deep. Please watch the Live Aid performance. It’s about 23 minutes long and worth every second.

This video was before MTV introduced music videos. The group was British and the name was very provocative as during their reign, people were just beginning to come out. There was a lot of controversy over whether their lead singer. Freddie Mercury was gay. The absolute musts after Bohemian Rhapsody: We Are the Champions, Under Pressure, Someone to Love, Another One Bites the Dust, and Radio Ga Ga. Bohemian Rhapsody is considered one of the greatest rock songs of all time. The record label didn’t want to release it because it was just shy of 6 minutes long. No radio station would ever play a song that long. Great music company prediction just like when Sony dropped PTX a week after winning The Sing-Off. The most iconic example of Queen is their 20 minute performance during Live Aide in 1985. It contains excerpts of many of their songs and demonstrates Freddie’s claim to being one of if not THE greatest showmen of all time. Freddie owned every audience when he preformed. He died of AIDS in 1991 at the age of 45. In the 80s an HIV diagnosis meant to start getting things in order because you had months to hopefully a few years to live. It was a death sentence. I’m glad you’re beginning your exploration of Queen because not knowing about them is like not knowing the Beatles or Michael Jackson. PTX received a big clap on the back when Brian May, guitarist for Queen, tagged the PTX version in his Twitter account. There could be no higher honor.

Listen you are so onto the absolute best rock music you could ever find anywhere. And that song is probably the best of their best. I’ve been listening to that for decades and still to this day I find it impossible not to rock out and sing along. Enjoy. I don’t think Queen ever did a bad song. My favorites everyone of them. The vocals, the drumming and guitaring that will kill you every time. And all together in this little group. Love them and love you!

Oh yes you are about to go on an amazing discovery of the hits that are Queen. Without doubt one of the greatest musical exports of the UK. Freddie was a legend. There is a video taken before the start of a Green Dat concert and This song comes on while the group prpare to come on stage. The audience is maybe 100,000 people and everyone knows every single word to this song. Every single note. Its amazing to watch.
