"Grouping like Kazuha" definitely is a stretch. According to the leaked vids I saw, it looked a bit bigger than Sucrose skill, and was targeted the same way. So unless they buffed it since then, don't expect a ton of grouping.

I think Jello Impact is hyping Lan Yan a little too much. Yes, she can potentially have a stronger shield than Zhongli, but it is conditional (either absorbing a PECH element to get bonus defense for that perspective element, or at C2 requiring normal attacks to refresh her shield). Zhongli's shield is strong unconditionally, has a longer duration with 100% uptime, has 20% universal resistance shred that occurs off-field for the same duration, and his burst can do a good amount of damage and petrify. So no, I would not consider Lan Yan better than Zhongli (both in general or as shielder). I would say that Lan Yan will be the SECOND best shielder in the game. Really need to see people test her when she goes live to be sure. Since I'm Day 1 player who already has the other Liyue 4* characters, I will of course go for Lan Yan.

She's better than Zhongli: VV, TTDS and a strong shield (even at base, without the Infusion) she doesn't need constellation and she can be a driver for reaction. Not Zhongli being powercrept 2 times in the same patch by Citlali and Layan 🤣🤣

@@wansper9297 thing is zhongli is not great in the meta either. zhongli was fine because of neuvillette furina kazuha mainly but lanyan doesn't replace him there (ttds doesnt buff neuv and kazuha holds vv already). zhongli is good there because his buff and set align with the neuv team. otherwise zhongli is mainly a flex for geo shield shredding content like wolflord nowadays.

Chongyun lovers: absolutely do a plunge team. He is amazing. Just build Atk and Crit with any atk weapon and he'll do good numbers. Very fun I absolutely recommend. (I run a semi-freeze team for the extra Crit from various stuff)

Okay, hear me out, Beidou is sooo good on Arlechino/Chevruesse overload teams. Having a shield for anti interrupt makes arlecinno feel so much better to play. I throw fischl on there and the team goes offf!

About lanyan, although I see what you mean, I would like to point out that : 1. Her shield is less powerfull still overall that Zhong li, meaning while facing a big hit zhongli's is more likely to survive. (Destroyed shield can't be saved by C2 unlike Thoma). 2. Her cooldowns are not as good as Zhongli, if the shleid break, you can refresh it every 10 sec, while for Lanyan it is every 18 or 16 sec I cant remember... (yes I know that sacrificial helps with that but still you have to proc it) 3. Meaningfully increasing zhongli's shield is very doable through a 2pc 2pc HP + black tassel + easy HP main substats + hydro res or even food buff. (With local legends in mind)... I say this beacause we mostly consider him at around 40k HP but it is very easy and usefull sometimes to boost him up to 55 or 60k HP in order to face very difficult enemies...

Yaoyao is also one of the better options if you have a Furina team. I know she isn't a 'one-shot' team heal like Jean or Charlotte but she does heal the whole team very quickly.

You know it's funny, earlier this year I was going through chars I wanted to put on my Navia team and I didn't realize I had Xingqiu at C6 already haha. So I have been slowly building him (my Navia team is not ready since it's not a high priority, I'd rather start focusing on my Snezhnaya team). More than likely I will probably get Lan Yan, but her trial will be the deciding factor. Otherwise, I'll probably get Xiangling since I know she's not at C6.

I realize that the gameplay in Genshin is more simplefied than most AAA MMORPGs, but after seeing Lan Yan's demo, she reminds me a lot of FFXIV's "Dancer" class (which I main). I currently have a C0 Arlecchino, but if I enjoy Lan Yan's "test run", I guess I could try to get more cons of both of them (if Chevi is also on the banner, all the better, since I have her at C4).

waiting on xianyun rerun to test it but i am a very big xinyan fan, used to play bennett/albedo/zhongli for a long time as a physical dps with itto's claymore c6 + a def timepiece and it worked well! obviously physical ended up dying out, but 125k bursts + 30k-ish spin hits was fun. i recently c6'd bennett and i think a xinyan/bennett/furina/xianyun plunge pyro infusion team might be fun?

Lan Yan can be a great alternative to kazuha in atk scaling team with the help of TTDS. Still not as good as sucrose even at C4 tho but the shield could be valuable for certain team or player, like Arlecchino.

Idea for solving the 4 star toon problem: You know those 4 stars in the star glitter or whatever shop? Where you can buy two of em each month. Let the players CHOOSE which 4 stars are there. Hoyo gets money, because players still have to buy em. It's not an instant win because it's still on monthly schedule. But at least players get guarantees eventually on 4 stars they want.

Xinyan used to have an issue where if your ping was too high, her talent, "The Show Goes On, Even Without an Audience..." would not work. I never went back to using her since then so I have no idea if this ever changed.
