Idk about everyone else, but I really like how you’ve been handling the open world aspect of the game so far. That being only unlocking a part of the map when a quest takes you there. I think it can be a good way to not get overwhelmed by the vastness of the map as well as play the game more how the game wants to be played. That isn’t to say running around to every statue breaks the game, it’s an open world game after all, but the game definitely cares more for its active playerbase than new players, so following the game how it was developed overtime will be how you best experience it as its intended. However if you suddenly get the urge to unlock the entire map, go for it, play the game how you want! Just figured I’d share my thoughts :D

I'm watching this episode right now and figured I'd tell you a bit more about the wishing system, since you've been wondering: Every single 4-star character is "standard" and can be pulled on the standard banner. Additionally, the standard banner also has a select few 5 star characters and 5 star weapons. What the limited banners do is that they increase the chance of some 4-star characters and additionally allow you to pull for an exclusive 5 star character that is otherwise unobtainable.

For parties, I feel like you could be over thinking it a little 😅 The point of the system is to be able to switch out characters as you need them. While most content can be done with a static team (with some difficulties, people make challenges around certain things) - the team system is overall made to be dynamic. Puzzles need different mechanics, enemies need different mechanics, etc - you can play how you want but certain things are made with weapons or elements specifically in mind. 😊 So if you need a bow to solve a problem, add a bow user! If you need Anemo or claymore, switch it out whenever! 😃

A bow isn’t really required for combat, and even if it is in a commission, you can do different things to make up for it and still get the rewards, like finding chests or completing other quests. Some puzzles and challenges are bow-centric, but for those it’s easy enough to just temporarily put in an archer, complete the puzzle, and then swap them back out.

About the wishing system since I noticed you've been struggling a bit with understanding it: The standard banner is the one you use the blue fates, you usually can get any 4-star character from there as well as some 5-star characters and weapons. I don't recommend you using primos with these because you can easily get these fates by rising your rank as well other methods. The limited banners are the ones where you get limited 5-star characters, they usually last a month before they go away. You can get the 5-star character that shows in the banner, in this case you can get Nahida, for example. After her banner goes away you won't be able to get her again until her banner re-runs, in which can take some time. The three 4-star characters that show next to her in the banner just means you have a higher chance of getting them while the limited banner is there. There's also the weapon banner that shows the weapons of the 5-star characters that are currently available. You get them by also using the interwined fate. You choose the weapon you want (you would usually choose the weapon of the character you want to get) and then wish as normal. You can also just wish for the weapon and use it on another 5-star or 4-star character, it doesn't necessarily need to be on the character it's made for. On the 90th wish you're guaranteed to get a 5-star character, but you can get a character earlier on, so for example you did 38 wishes and by chance you got the 5-star character. Then the process re-starts again. Finally there's the fifty-fifty, where you have a 50% chance of getting the character in the banner, if you loose the 50-50 then you get a different 5-star character. However the next time you wish for a character, the character on the banner will be guaranteed. If you win the 50-50, then the next time you wish for another 5-star, the character on the banner will not be guaranteed. Same thing goes for the weapon banner. I hope this makes sense :))

You can place Wander’s skill and climb on it to get to high place! Also standing in Bennett’s circle will buff damage of the characters inside it. And last the mention is, Bennett applys Pyro on the character inside the circle, and Razor applys electro to himself when using ultimate. So it creates an overload reaction around you and it will deal damage to nearby opponents while just standing still!

AHHHH, you got Barbaraaaaa. Shes one of my favorite characters forever though I know shes not for everyone and I can understand many dont find her that appealing or interesting, BUT I LOVE HER TO PIECES. Anywaysss, Barbaras kit is 100% for healing (though I made my Barbara a dps lol, thats how much I love her). Her elemental skill heals periodically base on her max HP (by attacking an enemy with Barbara, you can heal everyone in the party, or, you can activate the skill and change to the caharacter with low HP to heal them specifically), and her burst heals everyone in the party, again, base on her max HP (I dont remember which constellation lets you revive one party member that has died, but she has that too. Pretty cool, specially when you are on the abbys and make an oppsie). Apart from that, shes just the sweetiest most hardworking (to the point of being too much) and adorable girl, best idol, I really do love her BUT, Im trying to dictate who you use, I just like sharing little facts of my girl (also, she has a sister, someone you have already meet, take a guess on who. Her relationship with her sister and family is a very interesting aspect of her character aswell).

Something to keep in mind with Bennett’s burst (when he makes a fiery circle), is that you’re going to want to stay in the circle. It’ll heal up your characters to 70% HP, and if they’re at 70%HP or higher, it gives an attack boost instead of

One good thing about bow characters is that there's a variety of them. You might get a bow character whose playstyle you'd enjoy in the future. Some can autoaim, some don't need to aim at all, one can even switch between his bow & swords on Skill. And even then, you don't really have to use bow characters aside from some challenges (like shooting barrels). Also btw Bennet's large circle on the ground not only heals the character in the circle, but also gives a HUGE attack buff. So as long as your characters stand in Bennet's circle, they get massively stronger :D Still, lots of people will tell you who to pull for/who to get/who to use, but the game can be cleared with any characters. Just do what feels fun, and it'll get you far!

Razor is the best starting character, he has a physical bonus damage from default and if you pair him with a cryo character you have superconduct that reduces physical defense of the enemy, its great to explore and kill stuff.

A couple of tips: - If you're confused about where a quest is, and you at the point where it points to on the map, the guide might tell you if the quest is higher or lower than you, to help figure out pesky cliffs and caverns. - In a similar vein, If you see an oculus locator or a locator of another kind on the map, but you can't see where, I recommend looking above and below you, since they're not usually just on the ground in plain sight. Also check for fake walls made of that ice stuff or rocks, broken by scarlet quartz and the claymore respectively. -Especially in the In The Mountains quest, patience and perception are your best friends. I'd know, that quest gave me a hard time the first time I tried to complete it. Keep playing the game how you want to though! I'm actually really impressed at how quickly you got a handle of the main combat mechanics! This game is a bit of a complicated mess when it comes to figuring out where things are in relation to the map

Nowadays we have two limited banners running side by side and the standard banner that's always there. This time the lady with the glasses is a new character and the little turnip girl is a rerun. Both banners share the same pull counter (in all respects you can think of the two banners as one banner that has a separate pull button for each character).

Hi there! I've been loving your playthrough of the game so far! I haven't commented until now but you've been doing a real great job as far as early progression and understanding of the complexity that is Genshin to a new player lol. I don't have many tips right now I can think of, but what I can say is play how you want! There's sure to be a lot of folks who mention meta, or best characters and such, but generally you can make it by in the game with whoever you want to play as :). Oh and for the bowless situation you could hold the Traveler's rock skill and aim it at enemies on high platforms and it should still work. But thats as far as any range you can get from the current part setup. I also hope you find the lore and story of the game as you go further to be really exciting! Because if you thought Mondstadt was good your in for a amazing time ahead! If I ever have any tips in the future I'll leave them in a comment on any future videos, Good luck in your journey across Tevyat Traveler!

I think one the blindspots I’ve noticed watching you is that you miss that there are certain rock “walls” you can break. They look slightly different but you can see them with elemental sight. For example, the cave where you stopped to cook had a wall you could break and continue. Love the series soo much!!!

The battle pass will give you daily missions that will give you battle pass experience, most of the missions can be completed easily just by playing the game (finish dailies, mine some items etc). Don't forget to claim them as they go away every day on server reset. Leveling up the battle pass will give mats and fates (wishing material). The battle pass is the second icon on the top right.

You asked in the video if you were underleveled for the area, and you are a bit. I think you can safely level your main squad to level 40-50 because the game does throw a ton of resources at you early on. In a similar vein, you can ascend your weapons by going to weapon domains (which you couldn't unlock before but have now unlocked for you) to get material for weapon ascensions. You can also level up you artifacts a tiny bit (the adventurer's handbook even has a quest for doing that that'll give you some nice rewards!)

In general, if there is a red mark on the icons there's something to look at/collect. For eg the tutorials give (admittedly a very small amount of) primogems when you look at them (you can just skim through), on characters you can collect rewards when you ascend characters, you can claim battle pass stuff, open mail etc. I find it's generally good practice to keep it 'clean' and free of red marks to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Lantern rite is amazing, but please don't feel the need to rush through the story to get to that point! There would also definitely be characters you haven't met yet, so things might be a bit confusing. I personally think its better to play through the story at a comfortable pace and potentially miss the event instead of rushing through content just to get to there (especially since it's in a whole region you haven't really explored yet). Lantern rite is one of the most special events in Genshin and always a joy to participate in, but if you don't make in time just remember there will be other lantern rites and more great events to come 😊

hey calvin, little hint on the side so that your game experience can be more comfortable for you. you can rebind the button layout in the settings, but sinc this is about your 20th hour playing the game it's really up to you if you want to change the buttons to a more intuitive layout or keep it that way since you're getting used to it. it could better your experience while playing ^^

The weapon banner with the epitomized path can steal your wishes and there’s no guarantee you’ll get the weapon you want until like the third five star weapon. It always looks like something you want to try, but it is highly recommended that you focus on characters for now. I would just hate seeing you lose wishes to the weapon banner. Characters are so much more fun.

So a good catalyst choice for Barbara is the Thrilling Tales. For a 3 star book it's actually really great at high refinements due to it's passive, plus Barbara scales on HP, so its a perfect book for her. I see you're getting the hang of elemental reactions in combat, and you cleared your first abyss floor. only two more until you get Xiangling --just level up your units more and you should be golden --Level 50 should do it I think.

If you manage to get to liyue during lantern rite you can do events and get a free 4 star character. Lot of really good characters will be available and getting there shouldn't be a problem since Liyue is your next stop in the main questline(Archon quest). I haven't watched the vid fully so if you already know this info just ignore it :)

As you have probably noticed, the quests in Dragonspine are longer and more difficult to complete. You can do them by parts, a bit at a time, or pick a day to do only Dragonspine. Also, do you have any friends that play Genshin? Some stuff in that mountain is so difficult to achieve that I haven't met anyone that didn't require help to do it.

Just a reminder that the lanter rite is a limited time event that happens every year. So there is a possible chance you might not be able to experience it now. Genshin often have big limited time events that actually change the decor of a city. (Lantern rite in Liyue, windblume fest in Mondstadt etc)

If you're planning to pull on the current banner, between Xianyun(Tall Lady) and Nahida(The cute child)... I do highly suggest getting Nahida. She is a top tier support, really easy to build, has a really good story (she is really special, not gonna spoil) and can also be built into an OP dps with a hydro like barbara and electro character like lisa in the team. She is definitely a must-have, but if you like Xianyun's design, you can get her as well... she enables a unique playstyle with plunge dps, good for exploration(has a cool movement style) but isn't really game-changing in my opinion. Nahida is superior in all aspects in terms of gameplay especially for new players but most will probably just go for Xianyun cause she looks more "interesting" than that child. XD

If you happen to have an irl friend or family member that you trust, you could possibly ask them to do enough of the Lantern Right event for you to get the biggest reward. You get to choose whatever 4 star character you want that comes from Liyue. Not sure if that’s possible or worth the trouble, but I thought I’d mention it since I’ve seen content creators do that before.

Just a thing to remember! At the end of every archon quest, you are given an opportunity to ask questions, with prompts saying “About ‘insert topic’…” like with Venti at the end of the Mondstadt archon quest. These dialogues include important lore, so I always recommend going through each one instead of skipping it like many people including I did when I started playing.

Hey buddy. A few tips to help you on your adventures. [The big statues of the seven heal your party fully when standing near it for a little bit. [When your Wander is out on the field, you can talk to a statue(the big one) and change your element back to Anemo if in Mondstadt, Geo in Liyue, etc. [Artifacts are really important, and I do suggest you take a look there, to see if you can make some sets for your characters, as well as level them up. [Perhaps also look into the domains that allow you to get the materials needed to level up your weapons past 20 (asccend). [Look into your character abilities and see what they do besides damage, and you can also check their scaling(Attack or Health or defence) [Bennet ultimate heals characters standing in the circle up to i believe 75%. When characters are 75%+ they get an attack bonus in the circle. [Barbara's skill has a passive heal on the active character. But when Barbara is the active character, her auto attacks heal the entire party. But I'm having a great time watching! Keep it up.

I love your genshin videos, I know u only does them 3 times a week, but I highly recommend loging in every day to do daily commisions. And since the Liyue event is about to beggin I also recommend doing the Liyue Archon Quest(Main Story) before doing anything else, só you can take part on the event without spoilers.

I don't know if anyone pointed out in this game, the commission with the NPC ANthony, poor guy works so hard to buy his sick sister medication and treatment for her illness, he goes to the fountain at night in the middle of the monstadt town to pick up the coins townsfolk toss into the fountain to afford medication and treatment, and during the day time his sister Ana is seen tossing coins into the fountain wishing for a cure for her illness. Everything in this game is so canon I love the small details like that, even with the NPCs

Some nostalgia hitting me while you play this, probably the music bringing it back for me. Back when this released it was around winter 2020 and the world was in kind of a depressing place. This game however became a comfort game for me that year, and I have some fond memories of exploring this place. It was the first new zone they added to the base game and it did not disappoint! By the way Calvin here's something that will definitely make your battles easier, since you have wander always in the team, start your battles by placing one or two of his geo rocks in the battle field and his burst to you get to trigger the geo pulse and create crystalize reactions giving you shields. after that, immediately switch to either Razor or Bennett to apply electro or pyro to your enemies using their elemental skill, then switch to sayu to swirl the element that has been previously applied and spread them to nearby enemies, then you can switch to any of the other characters to constantly create reactions dealing more damage to your enemies. General rule in this game is apply element to your enemies with elemental skill, then immediately switch to another character to create an elemental reaction with the previous element applied. Normal attacks are just fillers in between your elemental skill. When your burst is ready, use them. quick swapping of characters is the key and Im sure you will enjoy the battles better coz of the resulting reactions and the increased damage and how easy you can dispose of your enemies. Also Bennetts burst circle it a damage buff circle so stay in it as much as possible and it also will heal your character only when you are in the red circle, Also take note that Sayus Burst is a healing area (green circle on the ground) your characters will heal in the circle, so swapping between characters allows you to heal them all one by one aside from the initial general heal when she drops her burst. Dont rely too much on the claymore spin attack, as the damage is small compared to creating elemental damage. use your spin attacks and normal attacks in between using characters elemental skill, and do not stay in one character for too long as your damage per second diminishes

You can get hydro/Fontaine and dendro/sumeru(best traveler version!)powers for your traveler. Look around the dark spots of the map for lit up teleport waypoints and just navigate to a Statue of the seven in that region. They unlocked these so new players would have a way to get to those regions to upgrade their characters... For inazuma, you're out of luck. You just have to go through the main story quest.

who are the best characters is entirely personal. The game is such that, if you like, you can spend time optimising characters and teams for damage, but that's like (once you're fully familiar with the game, elements and the battle system) getting and tuning up the most powerful cars to drive to the supermarket. For some that's the fun. But it's not something the game requires. (I have C6 Bennet. But i never use him because he doesn't fit into my style. My L51 C3 5star artifact Ningguang does 15,000 damage when using her Ultimate - which i think is reasonable. She's not considered to be a good character. But, for me, she's one of the best.) (All my characters are staying in the L50..L59 range. World Level is WL6)

Not every Elemental Skill has a tap vs hold variant. Check the details of the Talent itself. For wishes, the base odds of a 5 star is 0.6%! BUT the odds go WAY up after 74 wishes without a 5 star and for every wish after (soft pity). Most of the time you'll get the 5 star in that 75-80 window. Max it can take is 90 which is a 1:14M event (hard pity). On average, it takes 63 wishes for each 5 star, but it's best to plan on the 75-80 range since it's not a normal distribution. This counter also carries over between all character banners (the two active now and carries over to the next banners in 3 weeks). The weapon banner (not recommended, high spender territory unless you know what you're doing) and the standard banner (only use wishes you get for free) each have their own separate pity counters. Each patch (6 weeks), F2P can get around 70-80 wishes if they do all the new content. Weekly events are especially rewarding for primogems which are used to buy more wishes. The featured 5 star characters are ONLY available during their respective banners, so players often look forward or plan for the return of their favorites. The in-game trials as well as MiHoyo's released official "character teasers" for their personality and "collected miscellany" videos on YT for their gameplay is a great tl;dr introduction for them. Check those out, even for the characters you have to know more about them! When you do get a 5 star on the limited banner, there's a 50:50 chance you'll get that character (win) vs one of the standard 5 stars (a "loss" selected from Jean, Qiqi, Diluc, Keqing, etc). BUT you can never "lose" twice in a row. So if you get a standard 5 star on the character banner, the NEXT 5 star is "guaranteed" to be the featured character. So you can't lose twice in a row, but there's no restriction on how many times you can win in a row. The banners also have 3 featured 4 star characters that follow similar rules (10 hard pity, same 50:50, etc). And in Genshin, 4 stars are still quite powerful and you'll assemble quite the cast. Do know you wont have enough resources to level them all though...

Actually all characters in this game will be in the story later on. They also have hangout quests for characters so you can get to know them better as well as story quests. All characters in this game are part of your whole story

I would really recommend that you try using Kujou Sara(electro Bow user) in one of your party. I guess you are really missing out on her Elemental Skill which is really fine as it's a little complex to understand. But here is a tip- After using her Elemental Skill, use your Charged attack that will deal Electro Aoe dmg and will also give you attack buff if you are also in that Aoe. Do try using her skill more often then you will find her really helpful in combat. Another tip- Don't get upset about the wishing system, there are many good characters in the current wish banners you can easily get :).

That's what I love about genshin you play at your own pace. Experimenting characters, figure out what teams is best for you. Also small warning, regardless whether you like or not you will replace your character some day, but big respect if you're able to have them on your party, but doing so will require a LOT of investment and time. Some people have exploration teams, some to clean up mobs to gather materials. Also spiral abyss is the Genshin's end game content where you test your skills and be killing monsters and mobs for a time. But expect floor 4 and up you need to have 2 teams, That's right 2 teams moving forward. One dps, 2 sub dps and a support. For now, try to experiment team comps, figure out each other rotations the other of skill and used big enemies to test your rotations, its a good practice. As for the banners, Xianyun and Nahihi are limited five star characters, which will last for 21 days 3 weeks, Their is called a pity system, which means your likelihood to get a character, you get to see how many pulls you have in either Xianyun or Nahida. You keep pulling till you reach 75+ pity and thats the highest chance to get a give five star, which is the 50:50 You can either get the focus character or the standard five star characters, (Diluc, Jean, Tighnari, Qiqi, Dehya, Mona). BUT if you fail to get the 50:50, lets say you fail to get Xianyun or Nahihi, you can save that guaranteed for a future five star character of your choice. Try to atleast participate the lantern rite, you get primos and you get a free four star liyue character of your choosing and a free skin for Xinqiu

So how the weapon banner works is: You are guaranteed to get a 5-star weapon after 80 pulls in this specific banner (there is a small chance to get it before, which gets drastically jacked up at around 60-70 pulls. You would have to be ASTRONOMICALLY unlucky to get it precisely at 80 pulls). When you do get a 5-star, it's a 75% chance for it to be either of the ones featured in the banner. If you get the 25% chance instead, your next 5-star in this banner is guaranteed to be one of the featured ones. Epitomized Path gives you a Fate Point each time you pull a 5-star weapon that ISN'T the one you chose. Once you have 2 Fate Points, the next 5-star you get is guaranteed to be the one you chose. The weapon banner is NOT worth pulling on at all unless you are extremely hellbent on getting as optimal of a build as possible.

You'll get to have one of those conversations like you had with Venti at the end of every archon quest (so at the end of every nation, sometimes it's with the archon, but sometimes its with other important characters) You'll always get some info to lead you into the next archon quest, as well as some important lore info.

Wanders elemental skill (geo rocks) hold it and aim it at the side of the tower and the geo rocks will stick there, then you can climb the geo rock. The geo rocks are great at climbing since you can use it as an elevated platform and it will stick to walls and objects

Great video as always. For the adventure handbook, finish the things on the first page in Experience so u get primos and unlock the next page. Barbara is a great healer except when u r fighting cryo enemies. It is sad to see you heal with sunsettia when u have both benett and sayu burst active which both heals but u will get over it. Nice to see u learning elements quickly. Don't worry about the spiral abyss for now. Level characters to 50 and then try again mayne
