Viviana can deal some respectable damage now with Art shred + Elemental damage, as long as the bosses don't have too much RES (like the case of Patriot) and getting the Burn proc early, she might even outperform Surtr. Still..... the SETUP to get Viviana going isn't entirely convenient. Up until she got her 2nd S3 and the in-between cooldown, you kinda have to carry her a bit due to her not-too-stellar dmg against non-elites as well as a single block count to her name, on top of justifying a permanent deployment. As much as Surtr being a hospitalization meme of a DPS, her role as a Helidrop very much negate most of Art Fighter's weaknesses when their skills aren't active. She only require a deployment slot 'occasionally' to work, with a mere 5 seconds to wind up and gets kicking.

Vivi's skill 3 setup isnt useless before her second activation though, the first one is still plenty strong on its own. the only difference really is hitting twice instead of trice. so part of that downtime for the second activation she can do some real damage aswell. hers is definately the more fun skill to use though, regardless of power

Even then you still need to sit her up almost a minute in advance, with a good chunk of that time being spent as a 1 block Arts guard. And thats ignoring enemies with extreme Res. Surtr is a place and forget, a boss could be at the blue box you can deploy her and as long as she doesn't get instantly killed it's GG for at least 20 seconds of non stop DPS.

This is on second S3 activation in each case for Vivi? Still makes for an extremely long windup in that case. Makes a good trade-off, where Vivi has long windup and needs to stay on field, but can stay on field unlike Surtr. Also means anti-synergy with Necrosis dealers. Feels like Surtr tends to have more usability tbh but is pretty solid either way.

@@bluerendar2194 It's more so another burst skill that can delete elites, which Surtr kind of has been relegated to as of late. 1 Surtr skill does not reliably kill most modern bosses (and no, Surtr hospital doesn't count), but elites she does great. Viviana windup is 47s which is visibly better than the likes of AFK skills, but responds better to higher pressure moments in lanes. Think that's a good enough reason for a lot of people to justify using her now

​ @halley_lu AFK skills only get away with that for being AFK skills, where windup is a nonissue and clearing mobs consistently is the most important thing. Vivi S3 doesn't clear mobs *that* well and has downtime on skill (and needs manual activation), making it pretty worthless as AFK skill. No non-AFK skill used by any meta op has that long of a windup. Closest is Mlynar, who still has significantly faster windup and lower DP cost. Many of the best ops can deploy into adverse situations too, which Vivi struggles with since even first S3 takes a while and is much weaker, and she has nothing to help her bridge the gap.

It also has 2/3 of the DPS of second activation S3 (and therefore the elemental damage bar fills 2/3 as quickly, which is noticably less than full strength but still pretty good for opening). AK stage design is usually generous enough that 25s cooldowns are quite manageable especially when just rotating bursts.

Viviana still needs to use her skill one time before being in peak condition and thats roughly a minute before her 2nd skill 3 is finally ready Surtr needs 5 seconds and can last as long and sometimes longer than viviana's skill In situations where youd need to have an arts guard on the field to hold a lane. Vivi will be better cause her 3rd s3 will come out alot faster than surtr's redeployment (unless you have 5 medics on surtr) but for helidrop surtr's still gonna be better

quick summary for this: surtr does aoe better viviana does single target better surtr is helidroppable viviana is not helidroppable, needs to charge a bit overall balans but srsly viviana became stronk not because of her kit, but because of the ENTIRE elemental damage mechanic 😂😂😂 due to this surtr will usually kill bosses faster unless viviana's elemental damage proc was either damaging enough or quick enough for it to cd into another elemental damage proc, but usually it only procs once during the skill duration 😂
