Vedanta literally means "end of the vedas". We know next to nothing about pre-vedic India because the only information we have from that time period is writing and symbols that have yet to be deciphered. It’s not. The very first commandment He gave is that HE is God. We are to have no other gods. Now.. that doesn’t mean we are to hate them. We are to love them and all people, even our enemies. Love is different. Acceptance of sin is not the same thing as love. If God says it’s wrong, it’s wrong. But God is so good that even though we are ALL sinners, He gave us a way to be redeemed. “Hindu” is actually the Arabic term for the land now encompassing India/Pakistan/Bangladesh. So anyone from that land is actually a Hindu even if they are, say, Muslim or Sikh. The other local practices and religions are collectively known as “Hinduism”. So it makes no sense to say that there is a founder of Hinduism. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that they are Vedantist, if you say that the core philosophy of what you might think of Hinduism is in the Rig Veda.
