Jezza averaged less than 14 possessions a game in the three seasons prior to moving to FF. He was a human highlight real but never an elite midfielder.

@@wheelson7895 That's because he pinch hit in the midfield, they called him the worm the way he could weave through the midfield, then he'd go to full forward and kick a 100 goals. Don't get too caught up on stats, it was a different game back then, far less robotic.

Fun Fact about Kernahan, If you include his South Australian Career, the Bloke went on to kick 1004 goals and played 367 games combined... that's phenomenal. Id say Sticks was Carltons 2nd best all time player, behind Nicholls at 1 and SoS at 3.

@markuswilmes3694 you cannot be robbed of a brownlow, it's a flawed voting system. The 3rd ranked player could have just as much influence as the 1st ranked player but receives only 1/3 of the votes. In 1976 Leigh Matthews averaged 28 disposals a game & kicked 91 goals.. didn't win the brownlow. How is that possible

Geoff Southby was a pretty handy fullback. What about the 1972 Grand Final? 28 goals 9 behinds 177 points. I think it was this particular Grand Final where Percy rucked all day. "Big Nick" left himself in the Forward Pocket all day and kicked 6 goals. 2062 games? Try 2602.

For sheer workload Kouta was the AFL's first Superman. His speed around the park was something to behold Grabbing the footy off the ground in full flight with just one hand was unheard of in the 90's

I’d go with Patrick Cripps his 2 year stretch from 2018 to 2019 was one of the best players I’ve ever seen while carrying a terrible supporting cast which cost him getting a Brownlow and then he won the Brownlow a couple of years ago easily one of the best contested footy players ever and a great captain it’s a shame Carlton wasted his prime

Carlton arent my team but as a kid I remember they were always playing in Grand Finals and seemed to be winning them. They had so many good players over the years, the 1979 -1982 Mosquito Fleet comes to mind. The media rated Wayne Carey the best player of all time, (depending on which poll you read) but Kernahan kicked more goals in fewer games than Wayne... When it comes to centre half forwards there havent been many better than the big Blue. So he would probably be my pick. A lot of people would pick Jezza, hard to argue with that as well. ; ]

@tonenotrequired8626 Doull very rarely lowered his colours to anyone, which is why he's considered the way he his. But it's far easier to defend than create. Jezza had skills defenders could only dream of. And Hunter might’ve been even better. Just thinking about it now, there are things Jezza could do that very few that have played the game could- just those baulks and taps and the things very few other's would even consider. This is why D Jarman is ten times the player Ricciuto was.
For me, the two greatest Carlton players of all time are David Rhys-Jones and Lance Whitnall.

Amazing player. I still remember him dominating in a game against the bombers in a game in 2000 until he hurt his knee. I had to admit he had this Essendon supporter nervous that day haha!
