It's hard to fathom how those were the same men that won more games and scored more points than any other team this season. I've been a Swans fan for 28 years and I've come to the sad conclusion that, gifted coach though he is, Horse won't be able to get us over that line again. The 2012 side still had a large part of the nucleus and leadership of the team that Paul Roos built. Since that great day we've been smashed in 3 out of 4 GFs we've reached by 60 points or more. No fight, no grit, no ideas in the game that matters most of all. it's just devastating to watch.

What really disappointing from a Sydney perspective, they were minor premiers, they at a home Qualifying Final win against GWS, one week off, home Preliminary Final win against Port Adelaide. They had all the best cards in their hand. No travel at all. They wasted the perfect poker hand quite frankly. Brisbane on the other hand finished 5th on the H&A ladder, played the home Elimination Final at home and beat Carlton, then played a semi final and down by 44 points to GWS at Giants Stadium and beat them, then played Geelong in the Preliminary Final at the MCG and down by 25 points in the third term and still win. While Brisbane had to fight and compete hard and travel back and forwards, Sydney had the easy route and still didn't get the job done, and Brisbane did it the hard way. So Brisbane in the end will deserving premiership and I am happy they got one after a 21 years drought from the last, and they should be proud of this premiership on where they came from at the start of the season.

Swans didn’t put Brisbane under any real heat at any stage in this game, total fizzer of a game. It’s all well and good with the Swans and also Geelong always contending but at the end of the day it’s about winning the premiership not just being there.

A champion team will always beat a team that has a few “champions” Lions did what, hawthorn and Geelong did in 14 and 22. Brutalised the swans. They think their gonna go into a grand final and be untouched? Jokers. Good on the lions the tougher and better team won. Sydney can keep being show ponies

The first rule of coaching is don't get beaten by what you know. Sydney knew they were up against a gun on a mission - dual Brownlow medallist Neale. In Round 19 Taylor Adams beat him convincingly, but was not selected for the Grand Final. And Sydney chose not to play their closest checking player James Jordan on Neale. Sydney got beaten by what they know!

Since 1995 13 teams have lost a Grand Final by 40 points or more, 0 of the 13 teams have won a final the following year with 6 of the teams not even qualifying for finals at all. Can the Swans break 30 years (by next September) of history and win a final in 2025?

Another thing about the (2024 Twenty-Twenty Four) AFL Grand Final with both Sydney Swans & Brisbane Lions as both city rivals which reminds me both very same city rivals between Sydney & Brisbane are from our (2000) NRL Grand Final which was (24) years ago which was between Sydney Roosters & Brisbane Broncos in Sydney and the result that our Queenslander Team of Brisbane (Brissie) Broncos who had won against the New South Walsh Team of Sydney Roosters (Chooks) and the final score/s were Brisbane Broncos (14) - Sydney Roosters (6) and Darryn Lockyer the (Brisbane Broncos) Fullback who got the Clive Churchill Medal Award of course.

John Longmire is the AFL equivalent to NRL coach Ricky Stuart. Longmire only won a premiership with the Swans in 2012 due to inheriting the team from former coach Paul Roos following his departure after the 2010 season. Same with Stuart when he coached the Sydney Roosters to a NRL Premiership in 2002 due to Graham Murray leaving after 2001. Sorry Horse, but sadly, you should’ve been given your marching orders five years ago and it’s absolutely laughable that he has been re-signed to new contracts twice.

The Sydney experiment is over, it's time for the the Swannywobbles to fold. They continue to get to grand finals through unfair advantage, then ruin it for everyone by having a massive choke on the day.
@darrenoleary59523 ай бұрын
If that were the case, then Collingwood should have gone several decades ago back in the late 70's to early 80's where they lost the GF replay to Nth Melb in '77 and lost 3 on the trot from '79 to '81.
