No threat of relegation means investors are much more willing to put money into MLS clubs. I’m not saying this somehow makes the MLS better or anything like that, I personally hate the amount of consumerism tied to sports here, but in general American sports leagues are built for financial growth and stability.

The list is basically the 50 most valuable clubs as an investment. It's not bollocks. The MLS might not be very interesting in many peoples opinion(also mine, I don't watch MLS) but from an investment perspective it's a good league. Still has massive growth potential and has no relegations so your investment is way safer. The value of a club is its assets + future profit discounted. Most European clubs have massive assets but doesn't have very good future profit.

@@F-Tier_Physique That’s absolutely not how it works. A safe investment is not a valuable investment, if anything it’s the reverse. And that growth potential has existed for decades. What growth has been made? Nothing. They produce like 2 or 3 footballers who can even make it to Europe a decade, let alone top standard. The entire value as shown here is speculative value. That’s their entire revenue stream. And they still make massive losses with that. Also, if we’re talking speculative value, then there are Championship clubs with a way more clear and pertinent speculative value. If anything that’s more reason that the MLS clubs shouldn’t be there, because the league does not have from a business perspective any clear or obvious growth. They haven’t shown that in any way. It is absolute bollocks. There is little to no value there outside asset value, and to be honest, with the amount of stadiums torn down and left to rot in America, that isn’t worth very much.

@@GreenSharder a safe investment usually has a lower rate of return when publicly traded. Club ownership isn't publicly traded and can therefore be high return and low risk. The MLS had almost triple digit increase in viewership for its championship game and almost triple digit increase in sponsorship revenue. 30% viewership increase across all games in 2022. It's not about creating good footballers who can make it to Europe. It's about having a decent enough quality to sustain the current growth. The MLS is increasing in popularity for young viewers especially. It's essentially a lower quality superleague the encompasses the entire north America.

Makes sense since mls and liga MX been planing in merging leagues n neither have relegation worries as mentioned here. Quality sucks because of it and the fans hate the whole money over football ethos but rarely do we hit em where it hurts, their pockets...

Honestly with how quickly the sport’s growing across the pond it’s not unlikely. Proper football’s already starting to foght baseball for the number 3 spot in American sports and in an area of more the 300 million people, MLS may be on it’s way, especially if clubs yoith academies continue to improve the way they are. I hate to say it, but although unlikely by 2040, it could happen
