I love the irony of the Daleks that remained loyal and pure being labelled “renegade”. That’s just funny to me

They're renegades from Davros's perspective, so its kinda funny that the show seems to consider Davros to be the more legitimate Dalek leader from that.

It's a question of perspective--the ones we call Renegades actually called themselves "Imperials" while the Imperials were called "Renegades."

interesting thing is this dalek really acted like resistance leader, without numbers or resources, black dalek strived to use what ever it could get to have a advantage, really thought outside the box, which would normally get a dalek exterminated

I like the idea that this Dalek is the same on from "Resurrection," but it doesn't need to go further than that. It is a shame they never went anywhere with the "we have duplicates all over Earth!" plot line, just waving it away with one line of dialogue. I also like how Remembrance basically "ends" the Dalek story for classic Who. Destroying themselves in a civil war seems like a fitting end for them.

I would like to see another Dalek leader like this black Dalek supreme. Also question how many times has Skaro been destroyed and rebuilt,

With how the Renegade Dalek Supreme thought outside the box, I wonder if Daleks with Black casings are particularly notable for this line of thinking, as Dalek Sec was the leader of a Dalek group whose purpose was specifically adapt and think as the enemy thinks. Dalek Sec even being called by the Doctor, "The cleverest Dalek ever."

For some reason this Dalek supremes color scheme makes me think of the movie Daleks! I do like this one for sure as I have a respect for any Dalek not complacent with Davros's nonsense. I think I would've liked to see him directly comunicate with davros during the war or at least be try and shoot the doctor before his emotions got the better of em.

According to the novel there where other Dalek renegade factions, some in conflict with the Imperial Daleks and others staying out of the fighting sitting on the fence to see who come out victorious.

i love the idea of this supreme being the same one as the resurrection supreme. Yes it was abit odd the supreme being in a all white background when talking to the Tardis. Then he is name dropped in revelation. So maybe he did survive and is the one in remembrance. I also love the idea of the renegades being combat veterans which plays into novel and that they initially have the upper hand. If you go by the novel, they deploy a number of tactics to give them that edge and rely on the combat experiance. Would so love for him to come back.

Just how many black Daleks are there? If there is only the one (seems unlikely) then how would a grey (or red) Dalek suddenly go black? And if there are multiple black daleks how does one of them end up as a Supreme, hold an election? Or just another minor Civil War?

They are bred in special vats is my understanding. Or when that is not possible the other daleks decide which of them has leadership qualities.

I think the Supreme Dalek died after Peter Davidson's Dalek story. At the end, on the prison station, the self-destruct chamber was activated by Stein, destroying both the prison station and the Dalek ship with the Supreme on board. So I think the Supreme from Remembrance is a new one sent by the Empower before the Imperials took over Skaro. No way the Supreme could of survived that and couldn't of got to a transmat docking station in time before the ship blew up. And in Remembrance the Supreme has a completely different casing. If it was the same why not use the same Supreme Dalek casing?

Good question - they're from an old tabletop game called 'War of the Daleks', which inspired a lot of my Dalek custom ideas. I have lots of these images saved but I believe they're still available to view online

I'd love to see Renegade Dalek Supreme (from Remembrance of the Daleks), aka ' The Black Dalek' (not to be confused with other regular black Daleks of lower rank), somehow make a surprise return as the Doctor's oldest, the most dangerous and truest arch-enemy, having faked its death (perhaps using an early version of a transdimensional temporal shift type thing to escape), revealing, via a flashback, that it was almost always the same Dalek Supreme seen throughout the classic series, and it had avoided and waited out the Time War... I imagine a cool scene where a group of Daleks get a mysterious old signal and uncover a lost Dalek base within a massive asteroid that's actually a spacecraft. Its doors open, and the Dalek Supreme sinisterly emerges with new upgraded armour (though still recognisably as the same Dalek from Remembrance). The Doctor is there and realises who this Dalek is and is freaking out; the new Dalek Supreme of 'New-Who' who's also present demands that the old Dalek Supreme identifies itself, but the old Dalek Supreme ominously doesn't reply. It is simply giving the Doctor a death glare; the new Dalek Supreme then calls the old Dalek Supreme "inferior" The old Dalek Supreme then turns its eye stalk towards the new Dalek Supreme just as the new Dalek Supreme is about to fire upon the old Dalek Supreme, but the old Dalek Supreme is quicker, and it compeatly disintegrates the new Dalek Supreme, then it sarcastically replies "Incorrect... I am Supreme!" Just as thousands of reborn races of original but upgraded Daleks appear everywhere, who begin to attack the other Daleks, then in an extra twist, these 'new' Daleks chant (much to everyone's surprise), "Protect the Human, Protect the Humans, Protect! Protect! Protect!!!", as the old Dalek Supreme, seemingly turned good, reveals to the Doctor that for the Daleks to survive they must defend the Universe from the 'impostor' Daleks and from other threats, bringing peace, claiming that was what the Daleks were originally intended for, before Davros corrupted them, it also suggests an unlikely alliance with Doctor... but of course, the Doctor (rightly) suspects that this is all a cunning deception and plan to conquer the Universe, by pretending to be a new benevolent Dalek faction...and the old Dalek Supreme also drops a bombshell revelation, Davros may have created the Daleks, but also (via time-loop temporal manipulation, it was the Daleks who originally created Davros... so he could create the Daleks...

I have always liked to think that the Supreme first mentioned in "Destiny" is the same one referenced/seen throughout the 80's stories. In my mind, the Supreme in Resurrection decided to escape via the time corridor as soon as she saw Stein activating the self-destruct, and sent his last transmission to the Doctor from the time corridor chamber, hence the white background.

The black Dalek (and a red Dalek) from Dalek Invasion Earth 2150 AD, fell down the mine shaft, neither were shown to be totally destroyed. Since the filming of this scene the quarry location of this story has become the Bluewater Shopping Centre near Dartford in Kent. The exact location of the Dalek control room and mine shaft was close to a tramway tunnel in the quarry. The Bluewater Shopping Centre Police Station now sits in this location. There may still be Slythers hanging around the area.

This is probably my favourite casing colour scheme. I am conflicted about wanting him to be the Black Dalek Leader or not. On one hand, I like the continuity, especially as the Renegades are meant to be the "pure" and original daleks. On the other hand, the Black Dalek Leader would be 100% dead, which makes me sad.

This episode, like many Doctor Who episodes, is inherently political, and was written by a man who had a lot to say about the sorry state the country was in during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher
@angrychickenyt
@angrychickenyt 5 ай бұрын
@@dalekbumps inherently political? Sure. I think there’s a difference between the politics of the Dalek empire, and the real political landscape of the world. There’s no need to alienate your audience, but if that’s how you roll, that’s how you roll. Weirdly enough, I can kind of respect that as well. 🤷‍♂️
@dalekbumps
@dalekbumps 5 ай бұрын
@@angrychickenyt it does go somewhat deeper than that though. Lots of writers for Classic Doctor Who, particularly in the '80s, were vehemently anti-Tory and we can see this attitude reflected in many of the stories written in that era. There are episodes like The Happiness Patrol that make these themes extremely overt, and then there are others that are more subtle about it. Resurrection of the Daleks falls into the latter category - as a kid I always wondered why the Dalek Duplicates plotline was never resolved - turns out the writer, Eric Saward, never wanted it to be resolved. The implication is that the unstable, deranged duplicates that the Supreme Dalek spreads throughout Earth society are the likes of Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and other '80s world leaders. So although I am personally anti-Tory myself, and I took great delight at taking a swing at the likes of Johnson, Truss and Sunak, I didn't make the joke simply for the sake of it - I was carrying forward the same political implication that Saward wrote into the story himself
