Well, that is actually what they are doing. Korean citizens do not listen to foreign artists, they listen to Korean music. Most Korean citizens love songs from Korean solo or duo acts that does not sing the music genre k pop. The music genre K POP is not loved and definitely not well received among the general public in South Korea (So if you are a k pop idol and you get praises, acceptance and love from the general public, that means that you made it in Korea). The only overseas artists that I have seen charting in the Korean charts are Moves Like Jagger (Maroon 5), Rolling in the Deep (Adele), Havana (Camilla), Shape of You (ED S), Party Rock Anthem (LMFAO) and Closer (Chainsmokers). But the new generation in South Korea is starting to get to know more and more overseas artists over the past few years.
