The true and living substance of Israelhood, in the New Covenant era, is indeed the Church. I like the message, but I wish people would stop misusing the word Jew. The word Jew was coined to describe a person who lived in Judea, without regard for race; much like you call someone from Texas a Texan. Although some Israelites were Jews, not all Jews were Israelites. Sometimes the scriptures use the word Jew in place of Judite, when talking about the tribe of Judah. It's misleading. There were 12 tribes, and only 3 of them lived in Judea. The remaining became known as the dispersed, nations, and Gentiles. Missed the point in the text itself - “not all” means “only some” - this is immediately illustrated by the example of only through Isaac - “not all” the sons of Abraham, but “only one” in this case - Isaac, not Ishmael. The promise is from Gen 15. God’s choice or election is what makes the difference. “Not all” Israel but “only some” of the descendants of Israel are elect by God for His Salvation. They are “the Israel of God”. When God says “not all” the sons of Abraham, that doesn’t mean he rejects his descendants entirely and goes to sons of Pharaoh or some other person’s sons. He limits Himself to Abraham’s sons by His covenant with Abraham, but elects only one - Isaac, not Ishmael - to be the son of promise. He also says that through him “all the nations will be blessed”. This is how Gentiles are benefitted. But there was always an elect remnant within Israel. God is keeping His promise to them, not redefining the term “Israel” entirely. 🙏

The question of who is True Israel is a question not that of spirituality (which is available to all) but of those who are ordained to teach Gods word. John Piper was just trying to explain with too many words what the bible explains with few words in Romans 9. God made a covenant with Israel which was CONDITIONAL on their obedience and acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah. They rejected Jesus so all those promises made to Israel as a NATION no longer applies. That is why Jesus declared that "your house is left unto you desolate." Israel did not reject Messiah, they were and still are his Disciples from Galilee. Those who rejected Messiah were "the jews", who are Esau. Ezekiel 35.10, Obadiah.

Plot twist comes in Romans 11 when it states that Israel has hardened it's hearts temporarily. It is when they finally call upon the Lord and turn towards Him, He will be their God again and they will be His people. Romans 11:11-16 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? Deuteronomy 28 is a great way of starting. I do believe the gentiles are able to be grafted in, but there is a blood line that Christ is coming to save and redeem even those that are of the blood line do not make it just by being blood I do agree, but we are the true descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob the "blacks scattered through slave trade and there are those who are still in Africa" . you never have to listen to me, but read the word and allow the Holy spirit to lead you.

Paul would have laughed at you if you told him it meant 'non-jew" and "jew" meant Israelite. He literally called everyone in his epistles Israelites, because that's all he wrote to.

To understand what Apostle Paul is saying about all, Israel shall be saved. First, Who is Israel ? Who is Esau ? Who is Jacob ? Esau, the firstborn, is a picture of the flesh. Jacob the spirit. God hates Esau the flesh he loves Jacob the spirit. Jacob put on Esau's garments, the flesh, and obtained the birthright but was still Jacob. In the wilderness, he fought with the angel and layed his head on the stone, which is Christ. Had his name changed to Israel. A completed work of God. When we come to Christ, we are given a new name written in a white stone. Again, a completed work of God. So, in the end, all of Israel, those who are complete in Christ, will be saved. But there is a time of Jacobs trouble as well. Jacob still has his birthright he hasn't taken the mark of the beast in the wilderness tribulation he has his name changed to Israel and is saved out of tribulation. Esau, those who sell their birthright, take the mark of the beast. He found no repentance those he sought it carefully with tears. Today is the day of Salvation. Crucify the flesh. Follow Jesus he is the only way to heaven. Israel those complete in Christ. Romans 9 Jacob those who have their birthright but not complete in Christ Esau those who sell their birthright to satisfy the flesh.
