Tennessee Whiskey is Jack Daniels which is made in Lynchburg Tennessee, a little town about a hundred miles from Nashville. Jack has been made in Lynchburg for approximately 150 years and is actually about the only business in Lynchburg. The town may be built on Jack but if you want to buy a bottle you'll have to go to another county because Lynchburg is actually in a dry county and you cannot buy liquor there. This song was actually cut decades ago by George Jones and even further back by David Alan Coe and you cannot get much more country than George Jones. Jones and Coe both had moderate success with this song but it was Chris Stapleton's bluesy take on it that sent it into the stratosphere. Thank you for reacting to this song.

Maybe you don't know, hon, but blues, R&B, country and soul all grew up together. They were the parents of rock music. I comment as I watch, so you just heard the first few bars of Chris on guitar. . You should check out his collabs with Justin Timberlake (particularly at the CMA Awards where they sing TN Whiskey and one of Justin's songs called Drink you Away back to back... it's 🔥). Also, he performs with H.E.R. and it's beautiful too. It's a serious rabbit hole but he never disappoints. That's his wife, Morgane, singing harmonies 🥰 by the way. You can't really categorize him... country/ blues/ R&B/ Rock etc..... He's pretty damn famous! Keep going!!

Chris Stapleton is an amazing talent. You really need to watch his live performances, he is even better live. You need to see the version of Tennessee Whiskey at Austin City Limits, singing with his wife. He really seems to let loose. He and his wife harmonies are unbelieveable. Cold (live) from the 2021 CMA awards for another amazing performance. Probably, Fire Away is one of the only ones you need to see the video performance of.

His back up singer is his wife. He was raised on country, blue grass and soul. Just as another that will send shock waves through you is an old Simon and Garfunkle (sound of silence) cover done by Disturbed. They are heavy metal and not my norm but he is from a long line of Jewish cantors and his vocals are just as insane but totally different. Recommend you listen to Chris live and David Draimon of Disturbed live on Conan. Both are just insanely talented artists that blow your mind!

Chris Stapleton is a country artist, but this song is the blues. The chord progressions, the time signatures, his singing style…. It’s ALL blues. He does a great live version of James Brown’s “it’s a man’s world “ You would also like him and JT singing Tennessee Whiskey live. Always do Chris' live versions of his music if you can find good quality. I only recommend the album version of "Death Row" because the musical nuances are more pronounced and the official video for "Fire Away" because it only adds to the meaning. Try "Cold" live from the 2021 Country Music Awards. You won't be disappointed! (And for more fun, check out Tennessee Whiskey live at Austin City Limits, singing with his wife. Different vibe than this - even better!)
