Tom Hanks’ facial transition during the bathroom shot is a great example of “No need for words.” From dread, to confusion, disbelief, relief, and then bliss. And then he goes home… “Paul?” “Hm?” “Not that I’m complaining…” “Hmm~?” “But we haven’t done it five times in one night since we were nineteen.”

It definitely helps that the viewer is as surprised as Paul, which is the point.

How does Moses make his coffee? Hebrews it. My coffee was arrested today. The police said they are going to take its mug shot. How does a tech guy drink coffee? He installs Java!

i literally thought "why all the coffee jokes?" then immediately, out loud, said "Ohhh, Coffey." 😆

I know exactly how Paul Edgecomb felt in this movie, me being disabled, have had many urine infections, and it's like Paul says, "it's like pissing razor blades", he isn't wrong, and after you have been healed, nowadays with antibiotics, the look of extasy on his face is correct, the relief is amazing.

What surprised me about watching people watch this scene is how many of them said "WTF!?!" but none said: "Oh yeah, it's Stephen King..."

Because it happens when you're already so deep into this seemingly normal story/ movie that you're not really thinking about who wrote it.

John Coffey is a Christ figure. He appeared out of nowhere, as if he had just “fallen out of the sky.” He had foreknowledge of future events. He can see the good or evil that is in men’s hearts. He can heal illness and afflictions and resurrect the dead (if it’s not too late). He is innocent, with a pure soul, yet he is made to suffer and die because of the sins and wickedness of others. And even his initials are J.C., just like Jesus. (Recall the scene where John is watching his first-ever flicker show, and the light from the movie projector is illuminating his head from behind, just like a halo: The Christian symbolism is unmistakable.)

This kind of thing exists for real here John Coffey who in this film has the gift of healing goes with his hands take the evil that makes Edgecomb suffer then then goes to reject this evil because he must not keep it in him otherwise he would be sick in turn. My now deceased wife, had this same gift but greater healing power she did not need to touch the person and also aftewards she would immediatly wash herself or go to the toilet to free herself from what she had taken within herself. She could heal people at great distances she had a power rarely seen on earth.
