You did not need a lot of resources to figure out that Gerami was not legitimate. Wiley College and Miles College did not fall for the con. The problem in my opinion is that FAMU was blinded by the dollar amount. The real failure was with Friday-Stroud. She is the Dean of the School of Business and Industry.
@tincredible4 ай бұрын
Right. No extensive resources or expertise was required to do a simple google search on Mr. Gerami. Doing so what have revealed in 6 minutes what the FAMU administration failed to detect in 6 months of being acquainted with Me Gerami.

I attended multiple HBCU's in Georgia, Mississippi and Texas. They all were poorly run and poorly funded compared to even community colleges. Sad but true.
@BKG-ti7iv4 ай бұрын
It’s the truth that no one wants to talk about. Maybe not all HBCU’s are poorly ran, but a whole heck of a lot are.
@epeoples4 ай бұрын
It starts with the poor funding. That leads to low pay and low ability to attract the most qualified people. That leads to problems with day-to-day functioning. And it's all deliberate. This is a mess engineered at the state level because the don't support the mission of HBCU and take every opportunity they can to undermine them. Then, once they're undermined, they say, "Look at how poorly run your schools are!"

As a Floridian taxpayer and a proud graduate of an HBCU, this shows that the state of Florida is slowly showing that the Board of Regents system does not work. One of the best presidents that FAMU ever had was Dr. Humphries. I am confident that this would not have happened. 😢 You know that the governor wants to erase HBCUs.

Dr. Humphries was indeed a legend. If he was still with us, this debacle would not have occurred. (BTW, The Board of Regents was abolished on July 1, 2001)

First and foremost, are we the only people that believes the amount spent on wardrobe and housing determines/reflects wealth in pocket? Many humans attached to HBCU are only one or two generations removed from the low income strata. Unfortunately, many of us still have the hope beyond hope mentality, that flourishes in the low income strata. We must understand that receiving money, dreaming of money and spending money are all totally different situations. Mistakes are what makes us human. Leadership anywhere is composed of humans. The mistakes pertaining to this stream have not caused loss of money or lives, however prestige, hope and pride have taken hits. FAMU is the #1 public HBCU (5 years in a row), #3 overall HBCU and 91st overall public university in the nation! FAMU leadership apparently made mistakes which could possibly precipitate penalties/restrictions, but not removal of leadership that has catapulted FAMU to where FAMU is.

@@frankbrown7121..."than"... It doesn't matter to anybody, even if the money came from drugs. And if it's on $237, so be it. It is still donated money. We must stop letting mainstream media make us look bad. We must ignore them.

As a matter of principle, it does matter where money comes from because if it's coming from an illegal source, it could land a lot of people in hot water and put a lot of folks on the hook, criminally and civilly. Also, in this case, there IS NO MONEY coming from anywhere. That's precisely why this is a viral story.
