A new preorder has surfaced of a yellow repaint of Transformers Masterpiece MPG-01 Trainbot Shouki into MPG-07 Trainbot Ginoh? Who is Ginoh? What happened to the Femmebot Doctor Yellow? We cover it all!

I wish Hasbro would give the Trainbots a chance. I really believe that Hasbro's reasons why they never released them during the G1 1985 toy line was stupid and ridiculous.

I agree. I wanted a G1 reissue of the Trainbots for years. I don't have the money for the originals or for masterpiece.

The trainbots weren't even created until 1987. They never appeared in the US cartoon and only in the Japanese Headmasters anime which didnt see a legitimate relase in the English speaking world until the 21st century. Since by then they had no advertising platform for them, they probably wouldn't have entertained the idea. Considering their Diaclone origins, Takara Tomy may not have been willing to license them either

The preorders for Trainbots Ginoh just came out here in Japan along with better images and Protoman was 100% correct about everything, it is indeed a homage to the original Diaclone art that was not used anywhere else. This is why even in Japan we listen to this podcast, thank you again for your hard work!♥

The fact that they’re promoting Gino as combining into a new Raiden and not being the torso for a completely different combiner is really interesting to me. I do wonder if this is a Dark Amber Leo Prime-style release that basically exists to use a weird one-off toy color scheme (in this case the catalog only chest plate?), and we’ll get a proper Diaclone Raiden soon after this

Personally I’d be totally down for a G Liner team redeco of the Trainbots. Still waiting on Kaen and Yukikaze (Had to preorder Yuki 3 times due to not having funds readily available to pay for him when he arrived the first 2 times). This is nice too…

While cool to see, I dont think I'll be getting any redecos of the MPG line. I'm just waiting on my preorder for Kaen to come in so I can finally complete Raiden, then I'm done with MPG. Love the set so far (fragility issues aside), but I'm not willing to double-dip 6 more times, lol.

I don't think this name has anything to do with Italian. Gin means gold in Japanese, so I expect it's something to do with that since the character is a gold or gold-adjacent color. The Romanization Proto used also indicates it isn't related to the Italian name. Romanized 'g' is pronounced as a hard 'g' sound, like in gate or goat. If they were wanting to make the sound like in the Italian Gino it would have been a character that became 'ji' when Romanized.

Is Ginoh correct? I've also seen it spelled Ginou. You are someone I believe likely to know which is right, but I don't know if you spelled it here based on actual knowledge or just sounding it out from hearing the name.

The only Romanized consonants Japanese syllables/characters can end in is 'n'. People might use 'oh', but pronunciation would likely be derived from an elongated 'o' or an 'ou'

Could have used Rapid Run(R.I.D. 2001) mold for Doctor Yellow....... Wasted opportunity.......

Hasbro has gone on record saying that the RID 2001 Trainbots sold so poorly they'll never reissue or redo them again. So I doubt Rapid Run was even a consideration.
