As someone who's brand new to this system I utterly love the idea of three gods becoming one that's a really cool idea very inventive love it

Love the videos man!! One thing I wanted to say about this video. I know you mentioned that the only way to access the drift was via a drift engine, but I don't think you emphasized enough that it is the ONLY WAY To access the drift. No spells. No other technology. Not. Not even an act of a god can get you into or out of the drift otherwise

I'd probably love to hear Faction vids in Starfinder like the Free Captains or other ones but also the races in this game and if you ever do that then I'd say good luck cuz I think there is quite a lot of playable races (counting the PHB, Alien Archives which will have a new one this month and in the Adventure Paths), there's a plethora of them and all are diverse. Also I like how unlike DnD, SF has no "good or bad" race and class combo.

So I was just re-reading the technology and physics of Traveller's J-Drive it's cool to see just how different FTL drives work in different sci-fi.

Starfinder introduced even more options for long distance travel with starship operations manual. They arnt designed to be used by players, more for the NPC factions for flavor. It wouldn't stop a great adventure though

First, thanks for all the info. I'm just starting with Starfinder and having all your info is helping me learn the system and setting quicker. I think I may have watched your full play list of like 117 videos ( I can wear headphones at work). Keep up the good work. I'm late to the party, this video being from 2020, but I would like to request you check your pronunciation of Golarion. You are saying Go-LOR-ion. It's Go-LAR-ion (go-LAR-ee-on), or maybe Go-LAIR-ion to some. But it sounds like you are saying LORE and not LAR. Maybe I don't have enough experience with the Canadian variations in language. Minor request. Not a big deal. Cheers!
@TheMapleTable2 жыл бұрын
Im very likely saying it wrong, though im sure my Canadian accent has some bearing on it. Also thank you for watching all those videos, its a lot of content.

Weirdly when writing my homebrew I misremembered the drift as Slip Space, don't know why or how or where that came from but it stuck. I also took more than a bit of inspiration from the warp from Warhammer 40k.

I’m actually wondering who first penned starfinder because of all the parts it has from other fictions, I mean the drift is definitely not the warp from warhammer and that big station is definitely not the citadel from mass effect it dose get me thinking what else will I go “”oh hay that’s X from Y””
@TheMapleTable2 жыл бұрын
i think its the core rule book or the Galaxy Exploration Manual, there is an entire list of all the sources of inspiration and its quite lengthy.

So The Drift is basically the Warhammer 40k Warp only a lot less SpaceHell.
@TheMapleTable5 ай бұрын
Kind of Yea
@CommissarMitch5 ай бұрын
@TheMapleTable I want to note that this is a good comparison as I use 40k to compare similar ideas, and Starfinder have become my favorite sci-fi story.
@Qardo3 жыл бұрын
So The Drift is basically a gigantic size Banestorm. If anyone knows of GURPS and the Banestorm setting. Which works on the same concept. As a Banestorm can just happen. Appears out of nowhere and swallow up either whole cities, groups of people, or just a single person. To end up on a single planet. All due to a bunch of Elven Wizards tampering with magic they shouldn't have studied. So the Drift can simply end up teleporting a group that are from outside the Universe Setting and end up in Starfinder......oh yeah. This plan is coming together now. Or I am misunderstanding.
@TheMapleTable3 жыл бұрын
Slight miss understanding of the drift. Its an other dimension only accessible by technology like drift engines, the act of drifting and going into the alternate dimension causes parts of the reality you came from to go with you into the drift... But it may not actually be near you. It just comes from somewhere.
@Qardo3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMapleTable Oh okay. So the Drift is basically the Astral Plane. Or at least similar to it.
@TheMapleTable3 жыл бұрын
@@Qardo yea, its its own plane of existence that is mostly used for traveling. I equate it closely to the warp. In 40k actually

Spoiler Alert!: Casandalee's ascendency comes at the end of "Iron Gods" after the party defeats the ship AI Unity and she merges with the Wormhole Drive. The drive was used to warp reality and allow the corrupted AI Unity to act with a fraction of divine power, and had been moved into a shuttle in attempts to get it into orbit. In the end, with Casandalee in control, the shuttle is launched into orbit and the drive implodes. The effects of which cause the disembodied soul and consciousness of Casandalee to ascend.

i don't like how the drift was done it creates too many walls for dm`s and the players.

I view it as one more way to have interesting things happen to players. How do you feel it creates barriers?

@@TheMapleTable having fun like 40k warp is fine but i would have another reason for reality breaking apart.
