Speaker's Bio
Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, an unpaid, freelance researcher, spent years investigating the question of who actually assassinated Malcolm X-a lonely quest portrayed in the hit 2020 Netflix documentary Who Killed Malcolm X? The documentary, which identified the assassin, spurred the Manhattan prosecutor to reopen the case and, in late 2021, to exonerate two men (one of whom is still alive) wrongly convicted and imprisoned for 20 years for the slaying. Arguably the greatest living expert on Malcolm X, Mr. Muhammad will soon be doing another documentary for Netflix and is writing a book about the assassination.

@haroldalston3349 I wouldn't say the government protected only because most of America had no clue. The trial & media misdirected truthful & accurate info making most believe 2 men who had nothing to do with it were guilty. Now, those who knew especially in the Muslim community nationwide kept it amongst themselves for the most part.

The Nation of Islam does not want a “follow-up” with Mr. Abdur Muhammad. What would they follow up with? The lies that the NOI have been spewing for the past 55 years, which can easily be discredited; that they had no involvement…that it was the “government” that killed Malcolm and not the NOI, as Wesley Muhammad propagandizes. That would be their “follow-up”. The NOI would not dare sit down and have a real discussion with scholars like Abdur-Rahman and Zak Kondo, who have dedicated years of research into the murder of Malcolm X. But they will gladly speak at great lengths with someone who doesn’t know the truth or hasn’t done the research, and has a platform such as the characters on the “Breakfast Club” for example.

@@trueart1894 For starters, Abdur Rahman is not a scholar by far. He is a figurehead for the "documentary". Even Zak Kondo(who is no fan of The NOI at all) acknowledges this. He regrets even being a part of that.... show. He says had he known up front that Henry Louis Gates was involved with the production he would have said no way would he have agreed to it. Also, nobody from the NOI is afraid to sit down with Zak Kondo. His scholarship also has holes in it that need to be and have been challenged. Abdur Rahman on the other hand shouldn't even be in this discussion. That is an insult. Now he's running around crying about how the Ray Woods confession/letter is "fake" in order to protect his white masters/producers of the Netflix show. What a joke.

The most definitive scholarship and committed work done on just Malcom X's assassination was done by Zak Kondo in his book and lectures - "Conspiracy Unraveling the Assassination of Malcolm X". Kondo appeared in the documentary, but was not referenced or sighted properly. Nothing new appeared in the Abdur-Rahman Muhammad documentary that wasn't sighted and revealed in Kondo's 1993-4 book. The foundation material of the documentary came out of the book. Anyone interested can find KZbin videos of Kondo's lectures on the topic going back to 1993-4. Malcolm X was a Pan African/Nationalist, until his death and I don't think the speaker has that ideological perspective which is somewhat problematic in some on his analysis of Malcolm although those weren't the direction of the discussion. Of the many positives of Malcom's contribution one of his greatest was the restoration of African consciousness and cultural identity among Africans in America. He deeply believed in the moral conviction of self reliance, self determination and sovereignty for African people. In addition he was anti imperialist and anti capitalist and was looking for "third world" allies particularly in Africa. The greatest revolutionary theoretician ever produced inside America.

Zak Kondo says that he regrets ever being a part of this "documentary". He said they had a clear agenda of focusing on the NOI and taking attention away from the federal government and NYPD. Of course many of us already knew that. That's compelling coming from brother Kondo because he has been a staunch NOI critic.

@@Salaam71 When Brother Zak was completing his book I believe in 94 or 95 i(t’s been so long ago.. lol) we often talked about his monumental undertaking. I remember he was being harassed by NOI members at his lectures in DC and NY. Although I was born during Malcom’s death I was far to young to had known anything about the NOI and the movement. So like many of us we weren’t there and are all trying make sense of a horrific situation that should not of happened if we would of had strategic minds at the table. Although I understand the ideological shortcomings of the NOI I do have great respect for the contributions they’ve made to our liberation struggle in this country. Malcolm himself outside of his personal difficulties he ran into in 1963 started see some of contradictions and had probably ideologically out grown the NOI politically. I understand Malcom made some mistakes in closing out that situation with NOI, but the way dealt with him was horrific and undeserving. A tremendous amount of jealousy of Malcolm in the NOI from what read and learned from persons that worked with him. I think weather some of us like it or not all proper information point to NOI temple 25 as to where the shooters came from. Weather we like it or not Minister Farrakhan was at NOI Temple 25 the day of the shooting.

@@ShangoDC As far as who was "harassing" who over some information in 1994-95.. 🤷🏿 I do know there was a public discussion with Brother Zak and former Min of Mosque #7, brother Conrad. Somewhere along the line brother Zak became fixated and focused on the NOI's "involvement" while somewhat abandoning the government’s absolute involvement. Which is why I was a bit suprised to see him say what he did about the Netflix piece. On that same podcast he says that Min Farrakhan needs to "come clean". About what? I often hear people who follow brother's work cite the fact that Min Louis X was in Newark. Something brother Farrakhan has been very transparent about and spoken on many times. In fact, Mike Wallace tried to hit him with that, but ran audio over his voice while he was answering. kzbin.infozkHKXbzBrV4?feature=share Also, that the shooters(2) were from Newark is nothing new.

All of these assassinations stopped after Hoover died. All of them. Farrakhan is in his 90’s and someone is working a cointelpro type operation to either dismantle the Nation Of Islam once he passes or convert it to a less militant framework in line with orthodox Islam and Western interests. Besides Malcolm’s family and multitudes of his people, outsiders do not like or care about Malcolm X. If you try to revive Malcolm’s organization you will find this out. The same forces are trying to incite fighting between Black people who love Malcolm and Black people who love the NOI. This is a willful move because Black people are increasingly getting into African Israelite teachings. There is a bigger aim in all of this. Justice should be served for Malcolm’s family but Black people should not forget the enemy yesterday is the enemy today and Malcolm pointed that out in his speech “The Ballot Or The Bullet”. Don’t allow yourself to be manipulated. Look into your African Israelite Heritage my people. Saloam (Shalom)
