I enjoy the causal banter and obvious good relationships exhibited by all of you. It makes it a pleasant experience for use viewers. Having some experience with heavy construction in the 60’s and 70’s, it’s fun to watch the process you go through on each piece of equipment. The narrative is interesting and important to the viewer as we vicariously “fix” the problem. Keep up the great work.

It’s a sad day when people have to sabotage equipment, there is no real reason for it. I have been involved in repairing 2 sabotage pieces of equipment, not fun and expensive. One thing is for sure, the right guys are working on the engine, it will run like a Swiss watch when you’re done, of that I have no doubt. Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. The diagnosis videos are some of your best. Sad to see so new of a motor with so much damage but great to see it’s not going to the scrap heap. Good one to put the found foreign matter and ruined parts into a diorama for visiting guests to look at in a waiting room if you have such an area. Next impossible task is to determine what parts are missing and needed from the dozer. Your wealth of knowledge is impressive to see in action. Wishing you and your family the best.

OK, so gravel in the engine: that I would never have guessed! Isn't it amazing how so many people think the engine was swapped before sale. There is no way they would have gone to that bother, oh hang on, I used to work for a dealer who "rebuilt" tractors and sent then painted to look super. I was a trainee mech and was told to rebuild engines with whatever parts we could find in the scrap boxes, seconds piles, or under/over sized cams we had. When I asked where I could get some new pistons etc, was told not to worry as engines never got checked as they were usually disappeared "in transit" and never got to where they were meant. Needless to say, I left soon after.

The most diabolical vandalism I ever saw was a full ether can placed inside the air inlet tube of the turbocharger on a 4WD tractor. The air going by the ether can held the can against the compressor wheel of the turbocharger, which after some time wore through the bottom of the ether can, injecting all the contents into the engine at full throttle. I was able to get the tractor to run long enough to load onto a RGN trailer, but it blew engine oil ALL OVER from the exhaust stack. I think the whole engine was replaced, since no one knew the true extent of the damage. The tractor was 6 months old.

Extra valve collets 1984 a UK ford transit van had a valve collet stuck in the oil pump, we tool the head cover off and all the collets were in place; we dropped the sump and found 3 extra collets and a hole in the mesh oil strainer. The extra collets must have been there since we bought the works van from new. Years of the collets bashing the mesh strainer until it failed. We had another van and after a fairly long run it would smoke like mad; we tracked that down to the oil being pumped into the rocker box cover until it flooded, we were not sure if the head oil drain paths were too small or the oil pump was too much.
