Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 7th tier of English football, the Isthmian League North. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. In 2023 we won the Isthmian League North and will now play in the Isthmian Premier!
We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 3rd tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, after they also won their league in 2023. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams, an inclusive team and a walking football team...plus our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. I've always admired Devs, but after TST my level of admiration and respect has never been higher. I think the whole club was so well represented, and the way Devs got the team set up and ready to play was genius. It looks like both of them agreed that there’s a better opportunity for him elsewhere playing regular football. From personal experiences with injuries similar to higgsy, he needs minutes. To build his confidence and try to get back to his best if he’s sitting on the bench most games that’s really not progressing him as a player. And at this level because jts not full time there’s a lot more factors involved behind the scenes that nobody takes into account. So I wouldn’t be so harsh on devs, I think he made the right call and hopefully higgsy can come back one day and show us his what he’s got because he deserves it.

Squad is looking good going into the new league. On the topic of Barnet, I have 1st hand experience being turned down due to size. Jermain won't be the first or last they say no to because of that. Clubs like that have never modernised with the times and still think football is played like it is in the 1970's

I'm coaching my son's U10 team this season. I feel the same way about the uncertainty. "You might get battered... you might win every match." YES! It's very exciting. My prediction is that HTU will finish mid table. I have faith in the team, but realistically back to back promotions at this level is a bit too much to ask.

Always hoping for the best with this club, but you guys really need to get more players in! An 18 player squad is really tight and vulnerable considering how long and demanding the season is, specially in the attacking positions… Injuries, suspensions and all kinds of bad luck always come haunting a squad that gives everything week in and week out. Besides that i think that those 18 players are very good for the level that hashtag are playing! Up the tags #

It’s non league, you can’t keep players on the bench. Normally they’re either not getting paid unless they play or it’s a negligible amount compared to playing a league below all the time. Small squads are all you can get in these leagues. It’s good squad management by Devs.

I think the first season at this level will be more about adapting to the quality the other teams bring with them and finishing midtable. Obviously we could just as easily get relegated or promoted but I don't see those things happening this season. I think we'll spend 1-2 seasons midtable before pushing for promotion playoffs and then get promoted after the 4th or 5th season either through the playoffs or by becoming champions. Whatever happens I'm very excited for it! #UpTheTags

It’s so competitive to get just to league football that I’d love to know how possible it is to get professional and be sustainable.
