Vinesh Phogat shouldn't have gone to the Olympics in the 50 kg category (her normal category is 53 kg), it should have been B.S.F. constable Shivani Pawar (who was the national champion in the 50 kg category and a medal wonner in the 50 kg category in the 2024 Asian Wrestling Championships). But Vinesh had her way because the trial for 50 kg was carried out by the ad-hoc committee. Lutyen's media did not cover this story as Shivani Pawar is not from a famous family nor is she from a caste that forms 30% population of a state (Vinesh is a Jat and Jats are 30% of Haryana's population).
