Who makes a better Michael Myers Figure Trick or Treat Studios or Sideshow Collectibles?

I feel the sculp of the mask/head is arguably the most important aspect and is ultimately the deciding factor for me. Yes, while sideshow has more accessories, I feel for the price, we should of gotten a WAY better head sculp ..... I hate the eyes, and the head looks small and round. It's actually crazy how much better TOTS sculp is. I am making a purchase today and this review makes me feel confident in choosing the TOTS version!

As you've already pointed out, each figure has its positives and negatives. The Sideshow Collectibles version has the better coveralls, while the TOTS version has the better head sculpt. The Sideshow version has a receding hairline that's really hard to ignore and overlook. The TOTS version has the better body, while the Sideshow version has the better boots. The Sideshow version has more accessories when compared to the TOTS version, which is a basic figure release. I really like the vein work that was done to the hands on the Sideshow version. The Sideshow version utilizes snap on buttons for the coveralls, when compared to the zipper that was utilized for the TOTS version. The coveralls fit better on the TOTS version, when compared to the Sideshow version, which has a bulky and muscular body underneath. If the Sideshow Collectibles version had a great head sculpt, then the entire figure would've been impressive, but that's not the case unfortunately. A head sculpt can either make or break a collectible, no matter how good the rest of the body is and in this case, the head sculpt is a bit of a letdown. For casual Michael Myers fans, the Sideshow Collectibles version will suffice, but not for the die hard fans though. Otherwise, thanks as always Spot for another great video. I really appreciate it!

as a military expert in clothing. The TOTS boots are more authentic to the jungle boots used during the 60's/70's during the vietnam war. They were long and thin as shown , the SSC ones look like everyday work boots that someone's altered to a military look.

Omg that looks like the first sideshow Myers figure back in 2004 and it was terrible then and terrible now, tots is the best 78 Myers figure out there

I agree, the sideshow head sculpt completely blows the tot out of the water. By far much more accurate overall . Put a tot head scope doesn't even resemble Myers or a kirk..

The ToTs mask cuts well under certain lighting conditions. The SS mask looks more like the H20 and it's sharper. The body shape from ToTs is more realistic, and SS is more athletic, which looks weird. Anyway, I personally like SS more, as it is a collective image of Michael Myers.

After watching Dean Knight's awesome, in-depth review of the 1978 TOTS headsculpt, I was blown away by the difference between both figures because I was siding with the Sideshow headsculpt for a long time. Under a certain amount of lighting, the TOTS headsculpt looks so much more film accurate than Sideshows. However, I think Sideshow has the better tailoring on theirs. I decided that I'm going to keep the TOTS head and probably the body, then just swap everything else from the Sideshow deluxe version. Then I'll put the white sheet w/glasses on the Sideshow figure, so I'll have two of the figures from two different scenes. It just sucks I had to pay more out of pocket. Other than that, thank you very much for your fantastic in-depth review. I've learned a lot differentiating these two figures.

You could also have gotten the TOTS accessory pack which would have saved you a lot of money and given you better coveralls and the sheet head sculpt with glasses.

@@J0r-El Honestly really nicely, the only downside is the coveralls are more of a grey color than green but it doesn’t matter to me all that much. In all the accessory pack is a definitive upgrade kit in my opinion. Also the hands included are so much more detailed then the ones you get from the actual TOTS figure.

I just bought the ToTS for $100 on Amazon, soooo, ehhh. Considering how much more money the Sideshow one, this is a figure that is simply coveralls and a head. I’d rather put my money on a sideshow figure that is more complicated and detailed.

I think from a distance, the sideshow figure looks better. Trick or treat studios needs a perfect shade of lighting to capture the mask look I think of course unless you will get it customized. I myself have the trick or treat figure but I’m thinking of getting Sideshow also.

Great video! I think the TOTS figure wins hands down. TOTS really nailed the hair and iconic look of the mask. The Sideshow head is a bit exaggerated in its facial details that are not apparent on the real mask. Someone said it took proper lighting to capture the movie likeness on the TOTS mask. Well... thats true of the actual mask as well. If you look at behind scenes shots of the mask in natural light, it doesn't look like he has cheek implants. Those little details play out in shadow. So I think the Sideshow sculpt is a bit too on the nose in trying to create an appearance that was more subtle in natural light. Both are fine figures in their own way, but I definitely prefer the TOTS in terms of film accuracy and product value.

I have both, but Sideshow's is far superior. Sure, the mask is not movie accurate, but it's the better figure by far. TOTs is cheaper but it's not too bad. I like both but there's one easy winner: Sideshow.

If you put both figs into a blender, you'd probably end up with the best bits of both. Each has it's pros and cons, but totting up the good against the bad, I'd probably go for Trick Or Treats version. Plus, depending on the quality of the extra stuff that's coming from TOTS, that could swing it even more if they improve the hands for example.🎃

Just based on the head sculpts I'm liking the Sideshow one a lot more. The Trick Or Treat sculpt I feel has a lot more of the H2O mask in it, and while that's a perfectly fine mask in my opinion, it just doesn't have the Je Ne Ses Pas of the original.

I disagree, there's a reason why Customizers buy the 78 TOTs and re root hair in them, they are the more movie accurate head sculpts. There's nothing other than Coveralls that sideshow did better, the Headsculpt like with their Freddy had some artistic luxuries taken and Michael only works with casted shadows, even then his mask looks overly stretched across his head. the Portrait looks more like his head is a mask versus it sitting baggy like its supposed to
