Thanks for your informed take on this release. Hunted those bootlegs as a Youngster and acquired much of the new releases so I am leaning towards this purchase more now .

I agree...the new mixes feel much more organic. For me, easier to listen to in comparison to the First Rays album.

Well, most of them are outtakes, and it doesn’t have all those songs. I’m tired of seeing them add the Hey Baby, live studio jam. This time it has the full Bolero jam intro, but it’s the same track. It’s still annoying that they won’t release the alt mixes of 1983. There are some really good ones, but the only differences are usually on the vocals, where Jimi and Kramer would play with things to get effects, in post.

So, Freedom take 4, or the alt version here, has a better feel than any mix done prior? I don’t agree. Most everything on here has been out there, in one place or another, snd most of it sounds the same.

@@CorbCorbin Take 4 is a “take” only. I’d rather compare the alternate version of July and August 70 to prior First Rays versions. And yes, as explained in detail in my video… I personally prefer them…If you are cool with something else then it’s great 👍 I think that’s the reason why so many people love Jimi…he just had so many facets and I’m absolutely happy with all the stuff that has been released so far, so I can pick what I like. To me the cohesiveness and consolidation of this box set is something that I totally dig ☮️🎸☮️

Jimi was extremely creative even with all the touring and distractions. Throughly enjoy hearing any and all versions of the songs we know and love. Jimi, Mitch and Noel all had hand held cameras and tape equipment. Some footage has surfaced but the majority has not, it would be amazing if and when they do. I’m including Jimi’s little side project, his ‘ Goodbye Movies ‘

This is my favorite period for Jimis music, doesnt look like there are any "new" tracks? As a bootleg collector from the 90s, is there anything new other than the presentation and mix? Hate to give EXP money, but to hear Eddie Kramer remixes might be worth it.
