Somebody probably posted this already, but from my memory of friends running NOx in HS; you don’t want to “bog” and shoot nitrous at the same time, e.g. running the hit while doing a low rpm/top gear pull. That’s why you went bang, bro.

It didn’t work because it was plumbed up wrong, as well as the seized turbo. Next round the air intake needs to be on the large turbo, which should feed its high pressure boost into the small compressor inlets, and their high pressure boost then feeds the engine.

I wonder if Craig adjusted the tune for the 3 to 1 switch? Gotta get those feed lines in correct orientation for oil flow. Flowing from top to bottom is definitely ideal. You should be able to rotate the center section of the turbos

I know bikes aren’t the same, but anyway the weight of the rider is a huge difference in motorcycles worlds every 10 lbs more is equivalent to 1 HP, so if you took two bikes completely brand new identical but the riders on it one is 50 lbs more than the other, it’s like the less heavier was 5 HP stronger.

From the discussion at 15-ish minutes, nitrous sounds like the…winner? Who doesn’t want something that 1) comes in an extra (expensive) bottle, that )2 runs out pretty quickly, that 3) can only be used under certain situations for a short amount of time, and 4) can blow parts off of the bike and into parts of the rider. Yeah, that’s a winner.

Im not content seeing only one blown harley. Heres what craig should do. Plum both exhaust pipes into the one working small turbo. Make sure it works. If it does, but you cant get enough boost then plumb in the large second stage turbo. Get a boost control solenoid to play with boost levels. Make sure you have a big enough wastegate for the small turbo to run the entire second stage.

This turbo versus nitrous series was entertaining, but couldn't you also just buy a used vtwin KTM or Ducati that makes 175 hp stock? I don't know what that is DYNO'd to the wheel. But way more power than any other bike I've ridden. And for under $5K more you could soup them up and it will all work. I like the new HD engine, it's a step in the right direction, but I don't think I'd ever buy a bike with less power. Just have the police buy Kawasaki H2's and call it a day. It doesn't matter if you look East or West, both Europe and Asia spank Harley's. Even the Pan America is kind of alternative old man bike to the BMW R1200 GSA. Even then I'd probably still get a Triumph Tiger with the t-plane triple and shaft drive. I thought the XDiavel was a "sport" cruiser until I tracked it one day. Definitely fast in straight lines. The only new bikes I like now are the KTM SDGT, and the Ducati V4 Pikes Peak.

That's the sound I heard when my spark plug blew out. I changed my plugs after working all day as an Ironworker tightening bolts and I got distracted in a conversation while tightening the last spark plug and woops... I over torqued it. It drove fine for three days and then the plug just blew out while on my way to work. That's when I learned about helicoil inserts. That worked as a fix.

Adding nitros is cheaper and simpler than adding a turbo, but you constantly have to keep refueling the bottle, and with a turbo if you feel like a risk taker you can always crank the boost a little more, it’s just that the more you ask of it the more chance you have to blow your engine ! Turbo is obviously the better choice in my opinion but has we know ! Everyone’s have their own opinion and theirs certainly riders who think different then me. 😂👍👍

That rattle is because you have reached limitations of the engine. The way Harley has always designed their engines with the push rods limits the amount of power it can produce. Try this with any chain driven camshaft and you may find it runs a little smoother, also a liquid cooled engine helps with the extra heat nitros produces

Needed richer fuel mixture, less ignition timing, and higher octane fuel. Aside from the blown head gasket, there's chance that the pistons are damaged.

That head gasket is a Harley Davidson safety feature, its like a pressure release valve to keep your head on your shoulders. Cause with the engine locking up suddenly and the rear tire dragging, you'd go down like Jim Goose on his KZ1000, in the original Mad Max movie? Woooooh!!! Then you'd have to learn how to sing the Aussie tongue rattle toon all the way home.
