Well, it helps when you know there is a twist. Someone telling you there is a twist is already a spoiler. You keep looking for clues. It also helps you are living in the era where there is a ton of movies at your fingers and plethora of information about them. At one point you have seen everything and almost nothing can surprise you

Yeah, actively attempting to figure out a twist aloud is soo cringe. She's done this before and someone should tell her it's not a sign of intelligence... it's kinda a sign you're not very smart. These are stories, not German Code Machines during WW2.😅

@@PorterJustPorter There is really nothing cringe about guessing the plot of a story. It's part of the fun of watching a movie, reading a book, listening to a story. And esp. in suspense and mystery stories, they writers put in little hints and clues exactly to give the audience something to think and guess. Curiosity is part of human nature, and for a good reason. And though I'm with @milannesic5718 that it's probably easier to catch some of the hints if you've been told that there is a big wtf-twist in the movie, it's still a skill to pick up those hints and come up with a good theory, that even turns out to be correct.

It's not hard to figure out if you have a couple of dozen people telling you to go in looking for... something. It was a lot different when we went to see this back in the theatres without knowing what to expect, just thinking it was a regular cop/crime drama. Makes the end a lot more like a twist and unexpected.

Indeed. When I saw a certain late 90's movie I knew there was *some* surprise at the end, so I was looking for it. (Yes, the obvious one if you've seen it.) About 20 minutes in I sighed, realizing, and then the movie seemed contrived and forced. It's a good film, but I never got to enjoy it.

this was cheating. When your patreons challenged you "Let's see if you can figure it out, Biscute." No. No, that's now how WE saw it. NO ONE knew it was a twist ending. No one challenged US to "figure it out." We're sitting in the theater, sucked in by the style, the pacing, the world-buidling, a little bored, a little intrigued. You get pulled in more and more. And the movie was SUPERBLY done. You dont even KNOW you're being played.... until the end. BUT if you walk into the movie being challenged: "There's a twist. See you can figure it out" That's not's clever. You were tipped off and proud that you "figured it out." We can ALL be clever if you have 5 suspects in a crime and you're told "It's the one you'll least suspect!"

Sorry you were told about a twist. I saw this movie when it came out on VHS (yes, I’m that old) and had my mind blown. I immediately walked it to my brother in law’s house and all I said as I handed it to him was “watch this”. Then to every question he asked, I repeated “watch this”. It blew his mind and became one of his all time favorites.

If you know there's an epic twist, you'll pretty much always find it if that's all you're looking for. Much of the time it doesn't even seem that great after the fact. It was far different going into the theater and never expecting our main PoV and narrator to be misleading us the entire time.

The "tell" for me when I saw it was when Kevin Spacey was telling the story about Keyser. You could see when he was talking about the family and what happened that he became emotional. The eyes give it away. Like he was on the brink of starting to shake. If you're just some guy that had just recently heard the story second hand about someone you didn't even know existed, there wouldn't be that look in your eyes or any emotion. He wasn't telling a story he was reliving a memory, and that's what tipped it off for me that he was Soze.

Hi Biss, thanks for reacting to this. It is one of my favorite movies! there were a few clues during the movie and you obviously caught on, even if it was at a sublevel. You had the right person all along, even though there was some doubts and different theorises along the way. The reason the cop never suspected Verbal was b/c he was a cripple, but also because he already had his mind made up it was Keaton, and Verbal/Soze just led him down the path he already wanted to go. Quite a lot less of these twist endings back when this came out, and I did not suspect him for a moment! Anyway, this is such agreat movie!! Thanks for watching it. take care!

Movie making fact. The opening line up was supposed to be a serious scene but the actors kept goofing around. One of the reasons for the chaos was that Del Toro was really gassy and kept farting during the scene. When he gets the paper to read and steps forward he apparently ripped a really bad fart which is why everybody started laughing and Baldwin hit him and you can see Byrne trying to discreetly put his hand over his nose. The director finally gave up on making the scene serious. However the test audiences loved the scene as is and it was a good set up for how the characters interact with each other as the movie progresses,

Yep, Kevin Spacey was John Doe in Seven, these roles are what cemented him as my favorite actor back in the day. Some of his other big movies were American Bueaty and L.A. Confidential. A more recent one, Moon, with Sam Rockwell i cave recomend enough. Some will tell you to hate and loath him, even though he's very recently been acquitted of all charges. And end of the day that's up to you, but ultimately none of that takes away from how good of an actor he was, even if he was a"bad" Payson in real life. It's OK to enjoy media, don't let anyone tell you otherwise

What was supposedly one of the great misdirection-and-reveals in American film making, leave it to an Eastern European to start seeing through it right away and asking questions. The power of (older) American cinema is the tone, pacing and duration, to sell the misdirection by making you forget your earlier misgivings and mental connections. It really is one of the greater magic tricks.

Most mysteries don't tell you enough to actually solve it, and here is no different. Everything we see is made up by Verbal. So the only way to guess is to use cues from the film (who is getting screen time, who has the answers, etc.). There is a forgotten murder mystery where the film tells you everything you need to solve it. It's called 'The Last of Sheila'. Written by Anthony Perkins (of 'Psyco' fame).

Great reaction to an amazing movie, but as others have said you really shouldn't be told ahead of watching that there a twist. Maybe there's no getting away from this because your patreons have to convince you to watch one movie over another and maybe it has to always slip out, but imagine watching this the first time thinking it's just a straightforward detective movie and sure maybe you'd still be suspicious of certain characters, but just imagine being this way and then there's that wow moment that leaves you speechless, in feel this was taken away from you. I think people asking you if you can spot the twist ahead of the reveal spoils the film, and the beauty of the ending.

He actually gives his identity away, when he's talking to agent Dan, about Kaiser, and his ethnicity. The name, kaiser soze, tells u everything.

I was also fooled, but for a compleatly different reason. I was tricked because I am used to whatever you see in the movie is exactly how it happened, and when he talked abbout what happened, he was in a position that made it impossible for it to be him. If he had just told us what happened, and we did not get those movie clips of "what happened" I would have sussed him out right away.
