I’ve seen Pete go nutty over collusion with much less evidence. This was probably the most flagrant example of it I’ve seen on his stream. Clearly pink(beginner) was feeding green (novice) the win, on multiple turns. Pete must’ve been reprimanded by Risk or had a little self talk to bring that up less and it has now gone to the other end of the pendulum. Green & pink, same player imo. Edit: to be far Pete was very sus at the end, just moved on with his life in good spirits… GGs Pete.

Not necessarily, it was profitable for both of them until the end of the game. If one of them accepts they are going to be in 2nd place, in this case magenta, then the game plays out the way it does above. Not saying it isn't collusion, but I don't thing its blatant like you think.

I imagine you are referring to the killfeeds occurring from around 27:54 . They could also be explained by bad pathing and time management,the way magenta runs out of time killing blue on the crucial turn would be pretty good acting. Still, there is of course no reason why this shouldn’t be a collusion paired with poor skill and I will mention that it is quite sus for players like these to have the dice animations turned off. Reconsidering my judgement I would argue that collision and non-collision are both possible with the latter being more likely, not because the evidence from this case points in that direction explicitly, but just due to the much higher prevalence of bad play in comparison to flat out cheating throughout the whole Risk community.

Magentas last turn (feeding the kill to green) you see them split off 4 troops for a 4 v 1. Green consistently took 3v1 and 5v2 rolls. IMO they were not collaborating, but rather two less experienced players playing two different good neighbor strategies (threat-stack versus guard-out).

Slamming white out of spite was hilarious but I also wonder if it might have affected magenta’s decision making in the late game. Would probably need to see the 1v1 to know if colluding, but magenta might have thought that green played a better game by being friendly and not making poor gameplay decisions because someone slighted them with an emote.

There's an interesting meta shift on progressive, where your style of not taking bonuses has become more prevalent. However, that means taking bonuses that require very little material and not bothering to guard, like magenta does in the beginning, is a much more advantageous play.

I feel this also applies to progressive capitals. In most games I partake in with expert and above players, I notice the player who captures bonuses and gain map control often wins in the end; though the games do last over 2 hours but still, that little bit of extra troops per turn can add up and put the odds in ones favour (especially if ones getting an extra 20 per turn). When people are not setting, it's the perfect opportunity to capture bonuses and control territories since most players just turtle on their capital, get a card and wait. Despite everything I have said, progressive capitals is my least favourite mode since stalemates with the current turtle meta are commonplace (in good lobbies).

Definitely collab between Green & Magenta. Might even be the same player. Why? 1. Never attacked one another. 2. Attacked other colors less profitable. 3. Feed kills. 4. Same attack speeds. 5. Same pathing patterns. 6. Bonus mindset. (Granted, purple had that too.) All from the very beginning of the game. If I watch this again, I can probably come up with more, but alas time is of the essence, lol. In addition, it's easy to mask this sort of thing. For example, guard stacking--like Pete said, lot of pressure build-up. But if it's facade, then there will be tells with (cracks in?) the pretend game--for example, they just stopped stacking with a decent amount of game left and then started making in-roads elsewhere in far different locations. How much more do you need to come to the conclusion? Verdict: 100% collab; 80% same player

I do not agree with collab accusation in this case. They played very questionable all game and the magenta patern makes sense from a beginner/novice standpoint. Also green took long time to secure continent, as did green when the only threat to them were themselves. I always get suspicous if one acc is alot higher rank and they act like bestfriends all game, bit in this case I see no benefit to anything they did. Magenta had the win several times in the game without resorting to killing green, but they made novice plays and it makes more sense that they are just bad players.

Don’t think magenta and green were cooperating. It looks to me like cognitive ease, some players, especially if they are rather new or play casual will just not really consider attacking a good neighbour when they know they could win or get second spending a lot less mental energy. It can also be somewhat scary to calculate the eventual ups and downs of hitting someone if they can hit you back so easily and, again, many people would rather just keep calm and bank on the other guy not starting anything either

That’s a very fair argument. I still disagree because it doesn’t account for the direct feeds from pink to green, also sus is that pink was “beginner” feeding to a “novice”. But I always like a good counter argument to double check my logic.

New viewer to your channel and material - don't know how I found myself spending an entire evening watching hours of Risk gameplay, but I'm glad I did. Something I have noticed is that you say that humans are on the other end, so don't emote or antagonize like White did in this game ... but then you seem to let your emotions get the better of you too. I am in no way trying to defend White's decision, or pretend that I know more than the zero experience I have - but I do wonder if you find yourself being easily goaded into putting yourself in a vulnerable position by other players like that. Could you have been in a winning position if you hadn't tipped over because of White's emote? Either way. Enjoying the content, and hoping to maybe lift a few strategies and ideas for when my friends and I play risk in person.

In this particular situation I make a crucial mistake. I was going to die for sure. The thing that whites emoting changed was the terms of me dying. Instead of letting the chips fall as they may I chose to take him with me. If you can't play to win sometimes you have to redefine 'win' in the moment. So glad you're enjoying my show. Welcome!

Hello Pete, just one question. I have just been reset to 16.000 points because of a new Risk season. Is that normal? It seems that SMG resets every 3 months. Is the status of Great Master reserves for those who can spend 5 hours a day playing risk online? Since you were in contact with the SMG programmers, I thought you might know something I do not. When the new season resets you are dropped to the minimum skillpoints of whatever class you were in at the reset. So I guess you were a master? What I've been doing is playing a single (winning) game on all the accounts I want to keep at gm and play the rest of my ranked games on an account where I don't care about the outcome. Since the only way to get #1 is to play caps I don't see much point for me to compete on a broken ladder at the moment.
