I remember Adam Savage talking in one of his videos about "Greeblies" being a 'shop name' for small pieces from random off-the-shelf model kits the modelmakers at ILM would use to decorate ("greeble") their movie models to make them more interesting to look at. No idea wether the term is older than that though

Love this series! Much more humble than the crazy Only Suit series got to be. The limitation of a single rover is so good for not making snowball like crazy. Still love the water bears though.

For the maneuvering thrusters (left and right) I'd use those new flat fan thrusters. They're single block and you could bury them a bit inside the design (the square shaped ones).

F7 for quick reload of the safe, also please turn the thrusters on the drone on and off when its locked, you can do so automaticly with some blocks that do it for you or just add toggles. also i feel Mosquito fits it quite well as it has that nose, and there is an iconic plane from WW2 that has the name as well, so it fits the liniage

You may want to check out the new flat atmospheric thrusters, they use a lot less space, as they only use one block, with half block of collision. They provide a proportional thust to their volume, as in the small ones 1/3 of the small regular thrusters, and the big flat atmo, 1/3 of the large regular. They look like a fan.

Without Isy's the refinery will pull the first ore from one of the cargo containers. So if you put all the ore in one container and sort it in the order you want it processed, the refinery will pull it in that order.

The automaton blocks are relatively easy to figure out. The path blocks work a lot like the drones from your suit-only series, following a set of waypoints you choose

Vanilla refineries will take ores in the order you want if you put them in order in the cargo container they're in. For example if you have Silver > Nickel > Iron in the first 3 slots it will refine them in that order. I have over 6000 hours and only learned this a month or so ago from watching Splitsie. Also, another way to build a drone is to place a large grid connector and then change to small grid and drop it onto the other one. Weld it up and you can connect them and then build off the small grid. The advantage of this way is that if your drone uses hydrogen you already have it connected to your base and hydrogen tanks.

I think Adam Savage talked about greebling to some extent on his YT channel ("tested" or rather "Adam Savage's tested", I believe) a few years ago. I think you'd want to keep the elevators or ramps because if you end up losing H2 while in a safezone you won't be able to jump onto the drills since they'll be too tall and you can't drill or build while in the zone

I'm late, but oh well... the automation programmable block, sensor and timer block, are just the same vanilla block reskinned. But the event controller, that's a god-send, short explanation, it will do specific actions based on a specific block state (ex: if an hinge is at 90° a piston moves forward, or if a connector on a ship changes state, it will automatically set the batteries on recharge and turn off the thrusters) For the drone, there are also flat atmospheric thrusters(like the 1x1x1 or the 3x3x1), way easier to place

Doing about 142MPH in a rover with front wheels that far from the front of the rover is 'brave'! 😄 Also, large grid blocks are 2.5 meters and pistons extend up to a max of 10 meters. So, since the piston equals 2 blocks when retracted, that's 5 meters, and fully extracted they would be 15 meters.

I think it's "greebling" and I'm pretty sure it was first used by ILM when doing the models for the first Star Wars movie to explain all of the little bits of detail they added to make things look more like massive ships and less like small models.

30:23 "You can't print subgrids..." Didn't they add that capability in the Warfare 2 update? Regardless, *flying* with thrusters on subgrids requires a script, which delays thrust commands and may not work at all with drones. An alternative would be to have the main thrusters on a subgrid and use merge blocks to merge them onto the main grid at the vertical and horizontal positions. You can't merge direct subgrids, however, so it'd need to be a subgrid's subgrid, which would add complexity and size. Probably not worth it for disposable drones.
