Yeah, and he also had a 90-123 record and threw as many interceptions as he did touchdowns. I think he even threw 35 in one season once. He did play for a long time and for a lot of teams though. He just wasn’t all that great.
@davet2459

Problem with that is he was a #1 overall pick so becoming a journeyman immediately labels him as a bust. Granted Tampa of the 80s could ruin any QB and he was a completely different player once he got out of there but still. Fitzpatrick was drafted 6th to last so there was zero expectation for him to even make a team let alone have the career he had.

I truly think one of those MVPs Peyton has, should’ve been Drew’s. I’m a Saints fan so I’m bias obviously lol. Also, the 2019 NFC championship game robbed Drew of a chance for a SuperBowl appearance and maybe even a win. Before people say he threw an Int in overtime, go back and look at the hit on Drew, hands to the face that wasn’t called. There is a picture of it too, if you don’t believe me. Saints vs Vikings in the 2009 championship game had Drew play much better than Farve too. I think Brett was obviously a great QB, but I’m taking Drew on the “Goat” second round QB.

@@NeverSober8008look at Favre’s competition compared to Brees’. Brees played a majority of his career with 3 top 10 QBs of all time (all of which are in most people’s top 5 all time). He also didn’t compete against guys that had all time great seasons such as LT in 2006, Rodgers in 2011, and Mahomes in 2018 during his 3 MVP years. He didn’t compete with NFL love children Manning and Brady for most or all of his prime (and the years he did play alongside them, he never even came close to another MVP). Brees is truly unlucky in that regard. Favre did play with some all time greats, but they were all in their early to mid 30s or later and on the tail end of their careers when he started his MVP tear.

It was 2009. Beat Manning in efficiency stats with arguably less help target wise (the same argument they used to give Rodgers the MVP over Brees 2 seasons later) and similar O-line play. Brees’ run game was better, the Colts defense was slightly better. Basically an even playing field, or one slightly in Manning’s favor and Brees beat him in completion percentage, TD percentage, interception percentage, and YPA and still got blown out in MVP voting.

Maybe the Ryan year but Cam was absolutely the 2015 MVP. Those Panthers went 15-1 and decisively won their NFC playoff games. They had a good offense but no one was more valuable than Cam. He had 45 total tds to 14 total turnovers and consistently came up big for them that season. Nothing against Brees' 2015 season but you can't say Cam did not deserve that MVP. 15-1 is always a very impressive feat for any QB but with teams like the 85 Bears or 98 Vikings, there is always some game-breaking feature to their team but Cam pulled that team to 15-1 so I can't see a player that had more value to their team that season than Cam.

You’d have to be crazy to think Farve is over Brees in any all-time lists

Huh.. Brett Favre was better for longer in terms.of health . Favre won more games and lost less . It's close but I'd take Favre overall because you can put Favre on any team or system and he'd be successful. I don't know about Brees . Favre arm was also superior .

Kurt Warner's '99 season was out of nowhere but Steve Beuerlein's '99 season is super bizarre in retrospect. He was the second best quarterback in the league that year. The late 90s - Early 00s QB scene was mad volatile.

If you count Otto Graham's AAFC accomplishments I'd take him over Peyton, 7 rings and 10 appearances in 10 years and to this day still holds the career YPA record.

I still wouldn’t consider Favre above him. Favre had some very high highs. But he also had some bottom of the barrel lows. I wouldn’t take Favre’s volatile like career over Brees’ consistency for nearly a decade and a half where he was one of the few bright spots on his team for 5-6 total seasons and still performed MVP level worthy in most of them.

Purdy is making the 7th round pick look like a value steal. By voting alone, he has already secured a Pro Bowl nod for 2023 season. Might even win an MVP if he plays well against the Raven in the December 25, 2023 game.

Just sharing a neat lesson my uncle taught me. He was on the scouting team for the Houston Oilers and loved players like Brady. He always liked reminders that sometimes the numbers and rankings don't matter when someones passion and drive takes over and let's them accomplish more than they ever were told was possible. It kept sports enjoyable and when his job was turning people into numbers examples like that turned the numbers back into people. He used this as a lesson to never let other people or even your past limit your future. It's corny, I know, but it stuck with me and I'm just sharing something positive. Have a good day.

Fun Fact: The play at the start of this video, Montana to Rice against the Eagles, I saw live and from this angle. My dad had season tix 8 rows up in the 200 level in the endzone just to the left of the goalpost.

Excellent video. Kudos for including Bart Starr, drafted in the 17 round and who won 5 NFL Championships and two Super Bowl victories. I still would have liked to have looked at players like Johnny Unitas - who for a long time was considered the GOAT and drafted in the 9th round and never mentioned. There is also Wade Wilson, drafted in the 8th round who brought the Vikings to the NFC Championship game and played 17 years.

Romo's career rating is 95.8, good enough for fifth in league history. He's ahead of players like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner and Joe Montana. Leads cowboys in many stats, has 30 game winning drives i think tying aaron rodgers and was a 4 time pro bowler. He gets over looked and mocked a lot, but if it wasnt for kurt he would be a damn close number 1 undrafted. Think he deserves at least a mention

Brother, drew is by far the 2nd round goat. There were so many years drew was snubbed from MVP. He is the GOAT of statistics, and i would bet my left nut that if the no call against the rams went the other way drew wouldve had a second ring and most likely mvp.
