As an 8 year old kid, the hype around that Montana / Young face-off was immense. I was a young Chiefs fan, and Montana was just a name you heard as legend, but didn’t really know what he was all about. When he got traded to KC, I remember running, yelling in the kitchen that the Chiefs just traded for Montana - I had to drag my dad into the living room to prove to him I wasn’t full of it. When we beat Young and the Niners, it felt like KC was going to go all the way…then they lost to a bad Rams team the next week and lost in the wild card round to the Dolphins. Ahh, but that one moment was sweet!

Vick embodied something bigger than words as far as the cultural impact and what he meant to people. He reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson in the sense that he was a phenomenal athlete and brought black culture to the masses as far as how his swagger and confidence was admirable beyond measure. I think when it comes to how he will be looked back upon he will be the exemplary story of redemption and what could have been. As someone who had family members that were incarcerated I really admire what he did with his second chance. It's hard to reintegrate into society after people leave incarceration let alone do it as a black man that's a huge public figure.

New England fans hate that he left, but we will never hate that man. He is the patriot way. The patriots are tied for the most championships in the NFL and before Brady got there they had zero. He’s the only player and will be only player to ever have more rings than any individual franchise in the modern SB era (7). He may play in literally a dozen Super Bowls before it’s over depending on how this year goes. He’s the definition of consistency. He’s the greatest of all time and it isn’t close in the minds of those who rooted for him.

@@rebelsol9849 while that’s true but every quarterback has to have receivers and the patriots are notoriously bad at drafting them. Also remember that 25 point come back in the super bowl without gronkowski? I bet you can’t even name a receiver or tight end from their first three Super Bowls wins in New England. Not saying he hasn’t played on great teams but to say he’s consistently played with most talented skill players in the league is a lie. And when he did him and Randy broke the single season TD record for a receiver and QB (at the time for QB). So in the words of Von Miller: “If you hate Tom Brady, you’re just a hater!”

@@rebelsol9849 Bro what? The only good receivers he’s had is Moss, Edelman, and Evans. You could possibly argue a couple of others should be included in that list but only having a couple of good receivers over 20 years and still winning 7 Super Bowls automatically makes you the goat.

That game of Stafford vs the lions was so damn good. I remember it was what made me take Dan Campbell seriously as a HC. They came in considered a bottom 5 team and played their asses off against a top 5 team that went on to win the SB. The amount of voodoo wizardry they pulled out to try to get the W, and they ALMOST did. They played like a team possessed, converting 2 4th and longs with fake punts. They made rams fans take Jared Goff more seriously that game than they saw him his entire tenure with the rams. What they did that day was incredible and I believed went a long way proving themselves respectable in the eyes of their organization, their fans, and the rest of the NFL.

Threw 4 interceptions in the nfcc game that same year. His antics, persona, personality, style of leadership whatever description you want to put on him, was a strong influence in the divide of the locker room that ultimately led to or hastened the inevitable decline of the team overrall. I think any seahawks fan that paid attention to the rumors circulating over the past few years from the organization, understood how much of a cancer he became after getting paid. Its bigger than an old qb returning home in different colors. Dude was straight up disrespectful on his way out.

Additionally, back in the day broncos games were televised as far north as the Canadian border in western WA. I'm a Seahawks fan who went to the week 1 game. I think the thing with the booing was that on TV it didn't show well. This was because Russ came out with the Broncos and what were we supposed to cheer them? He went out with their team and not by himself to give Seattle a tip of the hat or something. That and boos are much louder than cheers. And while we all truly appreciate what he did, it was the home opener and no one gave us a chance to win that game, so the salt was there.
