I’m a die hard Yankees fan and New Yorker but this is getting annoying. It just comes off salty and biased. If I had to answer being unbiased who do I truly believe is the overall better player it’s Ohtani. If you asked me could Ohtani do what judge has done is the same situation and vice versa…Ohtani could do what judge does in the outfield and at the plate or be similar in stats but could judge steal bases and be a starting pitcher like Ohtani the answer is no. That should honestly be the end of the debate right there

He didn't have better stats other than HR. He also trailed, significantly, in ISO, RBI, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+, wRC+, bWAR, fWAR... And the WAR for Judge was just him hitting. And it was higher than Ohtani had with his hitting and pitching WAR combined. And this season, Ohtani has Judge on steals and triples, Judge tops him everywhere else and not by a small amount. And judge may not be top tier defensively, but he is still an above be average defender at a premium defensive position. That “if he wanted to” argument is crazy. If he could do something to help his team win more games then he would, because he already wants to win more games. Judge is not a good enough runner to steal more than 20 bases. And even if he did he would have a lot worse of a steal % than Ohtani and be running into outs all the time as a result, costing his team games. Ohtani’s 50+ SB is both an amazing number of steals and he is not costing his team by going for it because he is so good at it to begin with. Unselfish baseball while chasing a milestone.
@TheBlackWaltzАй бұрын
Ohtani has a 92.87% success rate. That's good for top 5 ever for seasons with 40+ steals I believe. Ichiro has the highest ever at 95.74%. That's an absurd thing to do for a player who is 6'4 and has 52 hrs. Acuna only had an 83.9% success rate last year. That should help put the stolen bases into perspective.
@Sincere765-ht5bnАй бұрын

@Sincere765-ht5bn 41 hr is a decent amount. 53 hr and is way better than 73 stolen bases. There have only been 32 seasons ever with 53+ hrs. If ohtani hits 55 it will be the 22nd ever. When Ohtani was pitching for Angeles, he still ran like crazy to gain hits. Not stealing bases so much but he wasn't saving his base running.
@KeeazulАй бұрын
As you already know by now, Shohei Ohtani has something specially dramatic that any other “great” “star” baseball player cannot have. You cannot evaluate the greatness of Ohtani by only comparing each stat he is not No. 1 against his “great” contenders because Shohei Ohtani is the one-of-a-kind “Superstar” in the Baseball universe right now.
@danejohannsen5562Ай бұрын
As dodger fan trust without his base stealing we would have struggled to score runs

Ohtani would be MVP in the American League if he was playing in the AL I am big all rise fan but Ohtani is on a different level.
@realandtrue2542Ай бұрын
Aron is the best hitter. Ohtani is the baseball and all round player in top level from mlb league with pitching. running, hitting.
@andyperez9999Ай бұрын
That's the freaking point.!! Ohtani wasn't pitching this season so to keep himself busy and motivated he decides to go for 40 40 then 50 50 in this one free season that he has and he did it!!! Who else would set a goal and nab it if it isn't ohtani!!! No one!! Not even judge if he wanted to

Exactly these dudes like Kay, Russo, Jon Heyman, Steven A, Wilson, et al all are hating on Shohei and have been for years. Hands down any GM in baseball would take Ohtani
@javierrivera6304Ай бұрын
The better player is Ohtani. The better hitter is Judge. Their both incredible but ohtani is more impressive because of all the tools he has. Put it like this you're comparing one of the top pitchers in baseball bat to the best hitter in baseball bat. Thats not supposed to happen.
Judge is OPSing 150 points higher than Ohtani. That's the gap between a fringe MLBer and an MLB AS. Ohtani just doesn't have the offensive talent to match Judge. Levels.
@nyy2709Ай бұрын
And Bert Campaneris had more steals than Babe Ruth!

Judge is the better hitter. Ohtani is the better baseball player.

Put it this way... If Judge had Tommy John surgery last season... He would be out this year. GOATani is breaking and making records in a rehab season. Shohei isn't the NL MVP. He's THEE MVP... Period!
@SuperReviews4youАй бұрын
Judge has a -9 DRS and defense replacement is so much easier to get than offensive replacement. I think is skews WAR against DH too much. Ohtani is at 52-52 right now. If he hits more home runs than judge and has 45 more SBs than Judge then IDK why Judge's poor performance in CF would make him better.

Lets the kid pitch one game... Game over...
@BlackPonamu-z8uАй бұрын
It's alot easier to steal bases😂 Ohtani makes his own class of 50 50 the day Judge learns how to pitch we can have the convo of who's better
@ep9691Ай бұрын
if it's so easy why are there only 2 baseball players who are over 50 SB's this year? 🤣
@BlackPonamu-z8uАй бұрын
@@ep9691 I was referring to what the commentator said how easy it was to SB's yet Ohtani is the only dude in the 50 50 club
@nrox1051Ай бұрын
Who's the Better Player? I love them both. Offensive I think Judge is better and he is an above average outfielder. But overall when both are healthy I would take Ohtani, because he is an ace level pitcher and a great hitter and baserunner also he is doing things that will probably never see it again. In the future we will see a few players like Judge but probably no players like Ohtani.
@eblsymkАй бұрын
check out top 20 position player wars in the mlb....13 from the AL, 7 from the NL....if ohtani were in the AL, his war would be SO much higher. the NL is stacked this year, that's why the fact that his war is +1.1 higher than 2nd best chapman (vs. judge at +0.5 vs. witt) is that impressive.
@young1736Ай бұрын
Are they blind? Although Judge is a phenomenal player, no player achieved 50-50 before Ohtani over 120 years history
@Mattnakama1Ай бұрын
You all have to remember Ohtani is recovering from a Tommy John like surgery that routine is hard to recover from and for him to continue to do what he’s doing is crazy. That being said It would be close with Judge getting the bettter
@Lemon_Drums_USAАй бұрын
I think having that recent game. Dubbed “the best Game ever played” puts Ohtani over the edge
@ep9691Ай бұрын
How can you state, “it’s a lot easier stealing bases,” when there are only 2 players over 50 SB’s? I honestly believe even if Ohtani passes Judge’s HR’s this season. These 3 would STILL vote for Judge as overall MVP! That’s how biased these 3 are. 🤡 show
@TheAsianRepublicanАй бұрын
There's only 2 players this year with over 50 stolen bases, it's ohtani and de la cruz. It's easier, but it's not that much easier

Ohtani is beyond stats. How many people start to watch baseball games because of his unreal performance? To me he is the MVP of baseball.
@nyy2709Ай бұрын
He’d better be beyond stats. He’s not even in the same ballpark with Judge and Witt in WAR and he’s more than 40 pts behind Judge in wRC+. But Shohei used to pitch!

Judge plays defense and should be the mvp. Ohtani only bats DH. Now when Ohtani starts pitching again then its a diffrent story.

Baseball is very easily quantified by our well established numbering system. The higher the numbers... The better the player. It's not even debatable that Judge is better on EVERYTHING except lame SB's. Ohtani is also selfishly clogging up the DH spot so the other guys on his team can't get the half day off.
