I'm a father and a grandfather of almost 60. I can read body language pretty well, having been all over the world in the Army. You want to excuse what he did, your choice. She was looking for an excuse to leave. The vast majority of men who have the ability to cheat ( some combination of enough looks, $, status, height, D size, humor, intellect, game, utility ect to get another woman to find him attractive enough to sleep with) will eventually cheat. Monogamy goes completely against male biology and evolutionary psychology. Monogamy is what's best for WOMEN not men. So the fact that this guy didn't have s3x with anyone else over several years is a pretty decent sign that he DOES love her. I mean a man is capable of loving a woman so much he'd die for her and STILL have s3x with a physically attractive woman he doesn't care about or ever plan to see again before going home to his gf/wife like nothing changed. A woman isn't capable of doing that. S3x and cheating is different for men than women

Which is especially disgusting considering a womans natural biology and evolutionary psychology/ sexual strategy is to find the 1 best guy she can get to commit to and provide for her/ her future children (has to do with pregnancy lasting 9 months and making her vulnerable) and stick with him. On top of that women have literally 10x lower sex drives than men do on average. In general a woman who is in love only wants to sleep with 1 guy and all other men are practically invisible. But a man can love his woman and be willing to die for her and he's still REALLY going to want to sleep with other women. Women rarely cheat unless they have an emotional connection to the new guy, and no longer respects / loves her boyfriend/husband (maybe she never did love him and instead married him for respurces/ $security and always intended to cheat with more attractive men). But men don't have the same emotional attachment to s3x so male cheating is way less bad and way less likely to result in him leaving his gf/wife. It's just female ego, lack of empathy/ ignorance on what men want that makes her think him cheating is a big deal like it is when women cheat. Men also bring WAY more to a relationship than just s3x, but for women they rarely bring much more than s3x soher cheating is way worse as men only ask for 4 things while women ask for 20. A man shows loyalty to a woman by protecting her, providing for her and her kids, and giving her security through marriage (a completely one sided contract in favor of women). A woman shows loyalty by not sleeping with other men and shows love through staying a virgin until marriage. Men and women are not the same. Its easy for any woman to get s3x while its hard for 90% of men to get it

The hypocrisy and bias regarding male and female dynamics is so one sided whenever it comes to the female counterparts in relationships and many other things as well. They only want equality when it benefits them , and rarely except or take accountability for their bad choices and decisions. This happens because most men are weak and they pander to their feelings and emotions versus being logical and dealing with truth , facts and reality.
