Every Canadian deserves the same wage increase as the grocery gouging spike that our government allowed over the last 4 years. The CEOs walked away with hundreds of thousands in this same time.

4 days on 4 days off was normal, now companies hire less people, get them to work 5 days a week. More hours lower wages, and Less benefits to pay out,

Who actually believes this is about safety and not money? We have the TSB that regulates rail safety.

A lot of charities in Canada are largely GST and income tax exempt in Canada. In Toronto they also get upwards of 40% property tax rebates. If you dont believe me look it up. Many of the large charitable organizations have enough money to last for years without donations. We should go after them and finally make them pay for their fair share.

How are you supposed to get a deal when the companies won't even sit at the negotiation table .I worked for CN for over 38 years only once in that time did we ever get a negotiated contract. The company would come in to the negotiation room lay what they deem the contract should be say take it or leave it to the union then they leave and never return to the table even when the gov't send the union and company to mediation CN just lays the same book on the table says take it or leave it again and walks out again. Then the company will either lock out the employees or the employees go on strike and the company waits for the gov't to legislate us back to work and to binding arbitration with the same contract we already had with the blue book raises on benefits. The life of a railroader is not an easy one lots of long hrs gone 36 - 48 hrs every time you go to work on the mainline being on call 24/7365 including all holidays no days off no paid sick days getting called at all hrs of the day or night so you can never get into a proper sleep pattern . Most rail workers live in a state of mind that is not functional try getting only 6-7 hrs sleep every two days for years on end and see how sharp you are. I don't know about you all but I would prefer the guys and gals hauling stuff that could wipe out an entire city to be wide awake and alert not fighting to stay awake because they are so tired . This strike has nothing to do with wages it's all about the quality of life and safety f the employees and the public.
