Jim Dale was also a singer in the late 1950's "Crazy for you", "Be my Girl" and appears in the film version of Britain's first Tv pop show, 6-5 Special where he sings " The Train Kept a rollin' " by Johnny Burnette

Hello JT. Enjoyed the show tonight. I went and double checked online. Carry On Screaming was indeed aired on 5th November, BBC1, 6.35pm. I can remember making sure I was back in to watch it. First aired on BBC1 in 1973, which was an Aug Bank Holiday.

Many thanks, JT, Paul and George for such a loving, detailed review of this timeless classic. Comedy-meets-horror, featuring bumbling, likeable protagonists, is a favourite, comfort viewing trope of mine. There are a few outstanding British examples: What a Carve Up, some entries in the Will Hay series, with Carry on Screaming sitting deservedly alongside them. Watching this again, and listening to you all, made me realise that the enjoyment of these particular 'carryings on' derived very much from the engaging story at the film's heart. I think I first watched this in the late seventies (possibly the eighties), having become enamoured enough with Doctor Who and Steptoe and Son, to appreciate this for the combined pleasure of featuring Harry H Corbett and Jon Pertwee, the latter, all-too-briefly. I remember being a little discomfited by the demise of Pertwee's character, although by no means to the extent of shedding the copious tears that accompanied Planet of the Spiders! A wealth of insight from you all, with it being touching, uplifting, to see each of you chuckling at the memory of certain scenes and lines! In keeping with JT's desire to see this gem on the 'big screen', I've personally always wanted to see a stage version! Regarding the sometimes adversarial relationship between some cast members, much like the extreme example of Corbett and Bramwell in Steptoe and Son, we can console ourselves with the idea that sublime, perfectly-timed comedy often arises despite, or because of, personality clashes. I loved the fact that they were unafraid to end things with a sardonic twist, namely that Corbett's character ended up, due to his reluctance to unfreeze Joan Simms', with Fenella Fielding! Incidentally, several years ago, I was in Newcastle's Forbidden Planet, a visit which coincided with Fielding signing copies of her book; much as I would have loved to meet her, due to having to catch a train, I could only afford myself the briefest of wistful glimpses of this undoubted legend! An unhesitating 10/10! Thanks again, guys and all the best for now. Paul

Just finished watching.I really enjoyed this. Unfortunately I overslept and missed you live. This is my favourite Carry On film. Your timing ( for me) was perfect. I'm currently struggling with a minor health scare so this was a very welcome distraction. There probably aren't enough hours in the day , but you three with your combined knowledge could present a wonderful second channel devoted exclusively to British Comedy. Thanks guys🙏

@@WhosViews I remember he did mention that and that he enjoyed doing it. He also appeared in Last of the Summer Wine. I've had several random encounters with Celebs...not bad as I live on the South Coast lol....I had Anthea Askey flirting with me 😂 ( Arthur Askey's daughter) I was learning a milk round and she was a customer on that Round. I picked up the guy who played DC CARVER in The Bill one evening in my Taxi..he was going for a night out at a local Pub as he was down for the weekend spending time on his boat ). He was a great guy, very interesting to talk to he even gave me a tenner for a tip). Another one was the fantastic Norman Wisdom. My mate was a mechanic and one of his Customers back in the day was Norman Wisdom. Norman used to have a Ford Escort Van that he kept his Drum Kit in. My mate lived in the Village of Amberly and things were very relaxed back then. Anywho my mate had just Serviced and put an MOT on Norman's Van and Norman came to the local pub in Amberly village to collect the keys and the paperwork. He stayed for a drink he was such a nice man to talk to and he had the whole pub in stitches 🤣

I have to say I was genuinely scared of Oddbodd when I was a boy, especially on foggy nights! I LOVE that sequence when he is trudging through the woods in the mist at the start. The whole film is a gem, and I have been sincerely in love with Valeria Watt since I was seven years old. Your Kenneth Williams impressions are sublime JT :)

Can't watch all of the show 'live' due to family issues, but always try to catch up later. 10 out of 10 for 'Screaming' and Who's views! P.s - Due to the large number of 'Old Git' viewers I think there is huge scope for a 'Do you remember this TV show?'!! Nobody seems to recall 'The golden Silents' hosted by Michael Bentine, I loved it. It aired early 70's on Friday evenings [I think], around 7pm. He stood on a stage with a screen behind him that showed clips from the silent movie era. I remember it being followed by a Derek Nimmo comedy, then on to the US show 'Virginian'. Sandwiched somewhere in that schedule would be a Tom and Jerry.😀 Yes, I'm very much an Old Git!

Sorry I missed this livestream -- because I **JUST** watched this one for the first time. One of the better Carry Ons . . . Corbett , Dale, Williams and all the male cast work their ASSES off on this picture, and yet Fanella Fielding steals it right out from under them -- seemingly without any effort at all!

She does indeed - she seems to glide in and be the main attraction lol. Unusual for a Carry On to have only three female leads ...

Fangs for the mammaries J.T. and gang. One of my favourites. It might have benefitted from more of the regular cast. Therefore: 9.5/10. It has one of my favourite Peter Butterworth performances. Wonderful mix of joy and Gothic horror.
