I've been on the fence about getting these but this video hit my nostalgia button big time. I used to love Who's Who. When I first started visiting a comic shop regularly in the 80s, Crisis on Infinite Earths was just wrapping up so I bought the back issues and all the Who's Who comics available, fell in love with the characters, history, and became a DC fan for life. Thanks for the great review, Omar, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you, Melanie, and the girls.

I've always been a Marvel zombie so I'm still very clueless about the DC universe. However, I bought the Crisis on Infinite Earths boxed set when I found a good deal in order to educate myself somewhat, and I'm currently on book 2 of the 6 (!) volumes leading up to the actual event, which are included to give you a sense of why the event was needed. Because of that volume 2, I was excited to actually recognize that weird starfish thingie on the over of this Who's Who! :) That said, I already have Who's Who volume 1 and not sure I need another phonebook full of (I assume) largely the same characters just with various updates.

This brings back a lot of memories picking up these issues. I was not familiar with a lot of DC characters and It's not like you could google them to see who they are and what powers they had. It was this or ask the guy at the comic book store.

Not 1960s - the Legion of Super-Heroes was created by Otto Binder, a notable science fiction author of the 1940s and 1950s, and its first appearance was in 1958, in the famous Adventure Comics 247. This is still one of my two favorite incarnations of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Right? They’re cool enough. But I get the vibe these are gonna end up for like $35 each on Overstock sites like Hamilton books or in stores like Ollie’s outlet. And then DC will be all “see, omnibuses don’t sell!” But like… come on. This is a gimmick book, sure it’s nostalgic for some. But without an actual story, I don’t see how you could just read this straight through.

Looks like these two volumes would be great to have but there are too many other collected editions I need to purchase first. Besides my complete set of loose leaf are sitting in my custom one volume binder on the bookshelf behind me as I write this

I remember when this new volume came out in this binder style. I HATED it so much. I hated that Marvel did it too. The previous was so simple and handy while this was just a jumbled up mess. I remember a lot of fans hated this new binder style so I knew it wasn't just me.

Sorry but that is a daft way to collect those loose leaf editions (there was a Marvel one done here in the UK like that too). DC should have just printed all the pages alphabetically for the omnibus, then put the covers at the back

But I will say that they’ve had an okay spread of eras between this and like NML/ birds of prey, etc. I would love some more modern stuff though like Tom King’s Batman

Not arranging the entries in alphabetical order is the Collected Editions Editorial Fail of 2022. I hope I still have my 3 ringer binder version from back in the day.

If you have no problem with a compiled reference volume not having its entries in alphabetical order, then your standards must not be very high. Either that, or you're a shill for DC's collected editions department. 🙃

Why would you prefer a reference book whose entries are not in alphabetical order (and, therefore, doesn't match Vol 01, whose entries WERE in alphabetical order?). You do realize that when these issues were published, they were designed in such a way as to make the pages removable, for alphabetical placement in a 3-ring binder, right?
