1 - Rob. My favorite riff and the D5 is fantastic! 2 - Darius. The OG, hard to do it better and up a whole step in A, getting all the way up to the crystal clear C#5. 3 - Jonathan. Darius's run, but in G. Really fluid and great breath control. 4 - Ryan. Solid Darius riff in G. Singing and seeing his movement on stage, even more impressive. I haven't looked him up, but I imagine Ryan has a ballet background too. 5 - Blake. Another Darius riff in G that is done pretty well. 6 - Jeremy. I like his idea of sitting on the G with a bit of a turn around the F# and up to the A. I also like his intensity. 7 - Brian. Interesting variation and also props since it's in A, but really sloppy. I'm not sure if this was just an off performance or what. 8 - Matthew. He's the first one I'm not sure if he's a trained singer or just an actor who is pretty darn good at singing. ------------------ From here on down I'm going to assume these folks haven't had formal / classical voice training based on what I'm hearing. This isn't really a dig at them because not all actors (stage or film) who sing are professional-level singers, but they can get the job done and really flex in other ways (ex: acting, dancing, etc.) So are in the "actor who can sing" category rather than "singer who can act" ------------------ 9 - Joel. Solid stuff from him. Sounds like an actor who can carry a tune pretty well. 10 - Joe. Sounds like he's going to hurt his voice. Very little control going on there with breathing, resonance, articulators, etc. 11 - Mack. Worst of the 'actors who can sing' category ... but abs!

Rob is such an educated tenor, I hear a lot of education, i really don't want to make it sound like a bad thing, this just might not be the right place. I get more soul from Darius, and its all downhill from there. I love Brian but this is melodrama turned up to 11. I get it fills seats, but so does whatever Ben Platt is doing in his Vegas show daddy bought him.

fully agree, i don't know what people hear when tenors go beyond their range, but so much of this is nails on chalkboard.

Darius forever. But I do love that Jeremy Jordan.

Darius is the original so I guess he should get credit for that. For me, Rob Houchen really added something special to the riff and it sounds even better than the original. I see a lot of Jeremy Jordan love here - he does have a lovely voice (and I think generally his voice is better than Rob) but his riff on this is only so-so and rather "safe". I wouldn't even call it much of a riff.

Tough between Jeremy and Darius, but I would choose Darius on this one.

Pretty sure Darius invented this riff and everyone else is riffing on his riff. Let’s be honest.

Yea, I’m fairly certain that Stephen Schwarz just wrote a long sustain of D in the sheet music

Love the version of Rob Houchen but I’ll go for Jeremy Jordan. Singing is art which is meant to be unique. He is the only one who has made a complete own version of it.

Hands down... Rob Houchen (Off-West End 2021). Besides Jeremy Jordan, he's the only one who wasn't screamingn the notes. And his riff was clean and musically sound.

I disagree. If you hear towards the end of the riff he's struggling. His voice got thinner/more nasal (pushing too hard) and then at the end his voice completely cracked (when he sings "wilderness").

Sounds like his voice broke because he was pushing his range too far. Not a healthy sound to me.

Has to be Darius, Robs riff but I don’t like his complete version. Wish Jeremy wouldn’t have been so unique with his take because he could hit this
