Man, Tien doesn't get the respect he deserves, man literally was stopping Semi-Perfect Cell from absorbing 18 for quite a long time, if it wasn't for him, everyone would've been fucked (or not, depending whether Cell would still do the tournament). Tien also helped Gohan by distracting Cell in Kamehameha fight.

Well, there were tons of screw ups... 18: staying within Cell's reach. She doesn't have ki so she could have escaped easily after Tien or Vegeta appeared on scene. Also, she could have blown herself up but I get that's a harder decision to make Krillin: not blowing 18 up Vegeta: letting Cell get 18 Trunks: not killing semi-p Cell or 18 Goku: giving Cell a senzu Cell: letting Gohan achieve SSJ2 Gohan/Goku/Vegeta/Trunks: Not killing Cell right after he threw up 18 Goku: instead of giving a speech to Gohan and wasted the last minute, he should have teleported Cell earlier, teleported back with King Kai to Earth and let Cell explode alone

I'd like to see a video on "Who Screwed Up Most in the Buu Saga?", as it has a lot of screw-ups that are arguably even worse than those made in the Cell Saga. The screw-ups in the Cell Saga were at least consistent with already-established character flaws (e.g. Goku's idiocy, Vegeta's ego, Gohan's anger issues), whereas many of the screw-ups in the Buu Saga were incredibly out-of-character and done solely to keep the plot going.

That's definitely true far as Krillin was concern despite Trunks's description of her she wasn't really evil. Sure she stole clothes but you never see her kill anyone. And also krillin's compassion didn't just go to 18, he helped out 16 and brought him to Bulma to be repaired and willing to let 17 be with 18 when he didn't know they were siblings.

She was literally on her way to kill his best friend lol. The only reason she and 17 didn't kill anyone yet was because the "game" was "kill Goku". The game distracted her and 17 long enough for the fighters to get strong enough and the whole Cell fiasco took out 17 and had her on the run. That didn't happen in the future timeline. There was no "game" or Cell to distract the androids so they straight away murdered everyone and became slaughter bots. She is no innocent. She just didn't get the chance to kill because of the whole Cell fiasco. Dont try to justify Krillin risking the lives of literally billions of innocent lives for "love" even though he knows literally nothing about her, just that she kissed him on the cheek for no goddamn reason and that she is hot. He potentially doomed the planet for his dick and suffered zero fucking consequences because fuck toriyama. Compared to the fuck ups of krillin and vegeta (atleast his fuck up is completely in line with his character), Gohan's "fuck up" is minuscule by comparison

And let's not forget Piccolo who literally wanted to take over the world and kill Goku which is no different then the Androids situation. It's well-known that Goku's circle of friends has people who used to be bad guys that try to kill him. I'm sure Krillin wouldn't have smashed that remote if he didn't think she could change. But hey that's my opinion.

Tien was dishonorable (even that is debatable because the only dishonorable thing he did in the tournament was to use Chiatzou power to manipulate the tournament bracket and breaking Yamcha's leg but he was honourable enough to be furious with Chiatzou when he tried to interfere in his fight with Goku) yes, but he paid his dues for that. Tien was a guy that while against them during the tournament, didn't actively harm them aside from Yamcha's leg. He wasn't out to kill anyone in the tournament (atleast during the tournament). Also you say dishonorable but every fight he participated in was honarable (just look at Tien vs Roshi) but I see what you mean. But he actively worked for the good of the world during the King Piccolo arc, lost his best friend and risked dying to deal with King Piccolo. He fucking EARNED his place among the good guys (shame what toriyama degraded him to in Z and Super). Not only that but Krillin was plenty hostile towards Tien before his turn. Its just that Tien actually redeemed himself on screen during the King Piccolo arc. Krillin showed more hostility towards a guy who was a dick to him and his friends for barely a few days than the literal murder bots on their way to kill his defenseless best friend who is incapacitated due to heart problem and KNOWS for a fact that the androids will be the bane of humankind as a whole thanks to Trunks. But no fuck all that because he "loves" the cyber bitch who he knows literally nothing about except that she was made to and was on her way to kill his defenseless best friend. Yeah because that makes sense. Piccolo was antagonistic towards Goku and friends and wanted to kill him, yes. And Krillin was rightfully hostile towards him. Even after Goku beat him, there is still hostility between them and piccolo years after their fight. Makes sense. Even during the early saiyan saga, Piccolo was treated as a bad guy. Even during the fight with saiyans Krillin was cooperating with piccolo simply because there was a bigger threat not because there is no hostility now. But then Piccolo redeemed himself. Krillin saw piccolo throw his life away for someone else. He witnessed Piccolo sacrificing his own life without hesitation for the sake of his "enemy's" son. He saw the son of Goku mourn and become enraged for Piccolo's demise. Piccolo may have intended to use Gohan for his own sake at first but he grew to love him and even died for him. Piccolo redeemed himself and so the next time they meet there is no hostility. Not to mention even at the height of his "villany" Piccolo showed he had enough composure to look at the big picture instead of being lost in his selfishness. Instead of being petty and relishing in Goku's failure to stop Raditiz from taking his son and his sure death if he fought Raditz alone, Piccolo saw the big picture. He himself came up and offered to team up with Goku (the man he was literally created to kill) and fought together with Goku. Yet Krillin was too blinded by his "love" for a cyber bitch out to kill his best friend that he risked the lives of literally BILLIONS of innocent people. And he suffered ZERO CONSEQUENCES!!!!!! (That is my primary issue with that scene) People harp on Gohan but that was literally the first fight where he was the stronger one. The first fight where he stood above the opponent instead of the other way round like before. It was the first time he had such an overwhelming advantage. Of course it went to his head. Also its not like he was doing anything too unfamiliar. He was doing what he learnt from the adults around him. Dicking around and not finishing the enemy off early when the chance is available is a signature action of the Z fighters lol.

I feel like, for Krillin, he didn't do it 100% because of "Simp Behavior." Yeah, he crushed on her a bit. Yet, he asked to remove the bomb from her chest. Not because he thought he'd *get something out of it* but because he actually saw her as a really nice girl. Even if she didn't love *him* he wanted her to have a life that she can call her own. Vegeta literally just killed almost all of his friends, and the fight was so close that it isn't really a good idea to let him come back and finish the job later. One wrong move, and that *draw* could have ended in a loss. Think of it like this. Do you think he would have killed 17? Maybe, with a bit of hesitation, but then we flip it like this. Do you think he would have killed 17 after he had a drink with him, or something along that line? A simple, quick, moment where the two can relate to one another? See each other as people, rather than enemies? I would argue no. So, I feel like Krillin did the least bad. Because, at the very worse, he did it because he had a hard on for someone. Realistically, he did it because he's a good person and-through that small bonding moment with 18-he realized she was just as human as anyone else and didn't really deserve this treatment. If she got away, she probably wouldn't have been a threat, and could possibly become an ally. Who I think did it the worst was Cell. This isn't just because he lost, but it's because he literally set himself up for failure. He let everyone get stronger, then when he saw Gohan and heard he could get stronger... he literally pulled a Vegeta and *coaxed it out of him.* Vegeta would be the worst offender, but Cell literally pulled a Vegeta and then some.

A HUGE point that everyone seems to forget is that Goku not taking his heart medicine is the root reason for every single problem in the Cell Saga. If Goku was in fighting shape, that would have meant that we would have had a super saiyan Goku AND Vegeta while fighting the androids. Now, i'm gonna be honest, I don't think Goku would have made much of a difference when fighting Androids 17 & 18, it only took 18 to handle Vegeta after all, so I doubt Goku could beat 18 in a 1v1. BUUT, I also don't think that Dr. Gero would have been able to escape if both Goku and Vegeta were there. If anyone just stayed on Gero he would never have gotten the chance to run, he was only able to because Vegeta was too busy decimating android 19. But say if Goku fought and beat 19, then Vegeta would have arrived and just beat the shit out of Gero. Boom, problem solved. Only thing then would be to find Imperfect Cell and kill him. Which wouldn't have been TOO hard

@@machine1685 My point was they would have killed Gero before he got the chance to release the androids, and Cell likely would have gotten caught before he had the chance to become as powerful as he did. Cell only became a big threat when he was left to absorb a shit ton of Citizens, if there were no androids I'm sure the Z warriors would have caught and defeated Cell before that happened. Especially considering Kami was the one who knew about Cell, and would have informed the Z warriors alot sooner. I don't doubt that Goku and Vegeta with a possible addition of Trunks would be able to beat him at that point in time. But yeah in the case that they were for some reason not able to find out in time and Cell became strong and then went on to Gero's lab to absorb the Stasis 17 & 18 they would have been mondo fucked

I think Krillin's decision made sense because of what you said, but also he didn't find her evil like Trunks said since she spares the Z-Fighter and didn't kill anyone. She also treat her companions as friends with care, further Krillin's idealistic conviction. This may be the arc where the characters make the most mistakes but I like how this arc shows the flaws of the characters while them still being in character Z fighters:their thirst for a challenge made them all not prevent the arc from happening Goku:his thirst for a good fight and power led him to ignore that his son doesn't have the same goals as he does Gohan:letting his anger get the best of him allowed cell to gain the upperhand to win and for goku to die Vegeta:his pride and believing he's unbeatable led to cell becoming perfect which in the end led to trunks' death. Trunks: his loyalty to vegeta cause him to not stop cell before he reached perfection and unexperience led him to make mistakes Krillin:many people overlook this but Krillin's kindness made him not kill 18 due to her not being a villain like in the future.the only bad thing she did was steal some clothes and wanting to kill goku which many of the z fighters had tried to do.krillin wanted to give them a chance to become allies or live differently since they aren't like their future counterparts. Tough question and even harder answer. Fact is in the Android through Cell saga everyone made some stupid moves. Gohan dragged out the fight, 18 didn't run, 17 didn't run, Vegeta let Cell become perfect, not listening to Bulma in order to kill Gero and stop it sooner, Goku letting Gohan fight, Goku not taking the heart medicine earlier, Krillin not killing 18, Piccolo not killing imperfect Cell (He stated that he could have), Vegeta not killing semi perfect cell, Trunks (Opinionated) not telling them about the androids physical descriptions, Cell trying to make Gohan angry, and last but not least Cell getting so arrogant that it resulted in his death. What’s kinda funny is that Super Trunks and mastered super Saiyan Gohan probably could have killed called in those days leading up to the cell games. Gohan was matching cell blow for blow even before he went SS2 so if trunks was there for backup it would be a cake walk. Or if you wanna go crazy all four of the super saiyans could gang up on perfect cell, like the Frieza fights. It’s sort of out of character for Vegeta in this arc to team up, but hey he did it with Frieza.

I think the difference between killing vegeta and killing 18 is that vegeta was planning on blowing up the planet almost killed all of his friends. 18 hadn’t actually killed anyone yet, and when given the chance, she spared vegeta and his friends despite being hyped up as kill bots, implying she had a conscience, unlike vegeta. Trunks... Everything that happened is a consequence of Trunks not taking action the moment he came back to the past the first time. He may have stoppped Frieza but that wasn’t necessary. In Krillin's case, one could counter-argue the Saiyan saga argument by pointing out that at that point of the story, the Saiyans were cold and ruthless. Krillin was out to kill Vegeta out of pure revenge because he had just lost most of his friends, and nearly his own life as well. Maybe if the androids had killed Trunks, Tien, Piccolo, Vegeta, etc., Krillin would've definitely have hit that button. And so it's his responsibility to spare them as well, since they spared him and his friends, because it is something Goku would've done.

I am actually going to say that Android 18 screwed up pretty bad there, too. Her power isn't detectable by normal means, so if she had simply left, gone under water and retreated while Vegita was fighting Semi-perfect Cell, she would have survived, Vegita would have gotten bored waiting for Cell to find her, and Vegita would have killed Cell. Fleeing would have totally made sense. Instead, she stayed on the island where Cell ultimately found her. 17 could be given the same answer, earlier, but while Cell had proven to be more than match for him, it was pretty hard to tell that 16 wasn't going to be able to beat Imperfect Cell. 18 has no such excuse. Especially once Vegita agreed to let Cell absorb her. She was already hidden. She just had to run. But she did not run.

Regarding Goku's screwup it wasn't really due to cockiness, but honor which a lot of people forget. He wanted it to be a fair fight so Cell wouldn't have the excuse of being nearly dead when he fought Gohan. Another thing to is that the rules of the Cell games was that new fighters could jump in at anytime, so how come no one outside of 16 and Goku (if it wasn't for 16 Goku would have taken a senzu bean and went back in to help his son) thought to do that?

A few other screw-ups: Bulma removing Android 16's bomb. He could have annihilated Cell with his self-destruct. Again, it's defensible because Bulma couldn't know if 16 would do that, or use it on Goku. Tenshinhan coud have targeted 18 with his Shin Kikoho and tried to destroy her, preventing her from being absorbed by Cell. But not only is it up for debate if Tien was strong enough to pull that off, he would have incurred Cell's wrath and may not even have held him off long enough for Goku to save him and Piccolo. 18 threatened to set off her bomb when confronted with the danger of being absorbed, but never carried it out. Not even when her back was against the wall. She would rather charge him head on knowing full well what was going to happen. As much as cold logic would indicate it was the better option, however, suicide was obviously never going to come easy to someone who wants to survive. 17 for sticking around after he knew what they were in for. But again, fairly minor because Cell was hunting them specifically and would do everything to prevent their escape. 16, by virtue of being stronger and not absorbable probably could have helped hold him off while he and 18 ran for it, but that would mean abandoning their friend with no guarantee of safety.

Everyone’s forgetting that Bulma had the idea to go to the lab and destroy it before the androids even showed up, but Goku and Vegeta were like “No, we like the challenge.” even after Goku was told that everyone dies in the future, including his best friend and his son. So I’d say it’s Vegeta’s fault for dismissing Bulmas idea of destroying the lab before the Androids are even let loose, and Goku’s fault for taking the word of a ruthless maniac who’s responsible for the deaths of most of his friends and has even tried to kill his son, than the word of literally the first girl he ever met, because he wants to fight strong guys.

Goku could've taken the medicine, Trunks could have waited in that timeline somewhere remote so that he can be there at the site of the first androids without affecting his birth (or at least return at the date of his birth which would still be before the android date), he could have noticed that the first androids were fake and then kill gero, which would stop 17 and 18 from awakening (the only problem is that we get an even more broken cell to deal with)

In a way, dragon ball storyline is built upon stuff like that. for example, there didnt seem to be any reason to spare vegeta's life in the sayian saga - hes basically a mass murderer and a threat to the entire earth. but by goku doing so, he allowed him to become an active part and one of the most important charcaters in the story of dragon ball. I guess all those examples represent bad choices by the characters but good choices by the writer, in order for the story to advance and be more interesting and appealing

The way I view goku giving cell a senzu bean is THIS Cell was tired, and would've gotten desperate eventually, going ALL out, something Gohan wouldn't have been prepared for. Goku gave cell that senzu to lull him into a false sense of security, where because cell was back at full strength he toyed with gohan, allowing gohan to transform and beat his ass. It was STILL fucked up that goku didn't take the senzu HIMSELF AFTER giving cell one but that's my way of seeing his action for giving cell the bean. Although it would've been dope if goku DID something to it 1st. Poison senzu anyone?
