Edit: this was true on the SB1000 and the SB2000 but may not be true on the SB2000 Pro in this video. The Pro has a line out still but it appears to no longer have the highpass filter. This will still work but you won't get the benefit of the filter. You are wiring the sub wrong. You shouldn't be using a splitter, the sub has a highpass filter built in. You need to put the rca out from your DAC into the line in on the sub and then run the line out on the sub into your speaker amp. What this does is act as a crossover so the speakers are no longer trying to reproduce the frequency range you have asked the sub to handle. This means your speakers and amp aren't wasting power trying to reproduce subbass when you have a sub thats already doing that. Your midrange drivers should just generally perform better once they don't have to deal with that really low frequency range.

I have this on my old reciver but it seems pretty rare to have a pre-out/power in on integrateds these days. Since he is probably just using the DAC as the only source anyway it should be fine just running from the DAC if he doesn't have a pre-out

Jake: Why wouldn't you use the output on the sub? It has the crossover integrated, as it's a powered sub, and then you use the output into the speakers' input for the amp. No need to use splitters! Also, you're sending full range to the tops the way you wired it, so it's going to muddy the frequencies in the high-bass low-mid range.

REW and Equalizer APO is a freeware solution to room correction. Great pick on the sealed sub, but you’re inviting issues having those rear-ported speakers so close to the wall. A front-ported speaker would be a much better choice for this setup (though $200 for those Q150’s is excellent!)

Also using EQ APO with my 2.1 desktop setup. The only problem is that in windows you need to do a virtual 5.1 setup and reroute the outputs to correct the sub and front speakers individually. Of course it needs a LOT of experience to interpret the measurements correct the frequency response in the right way, because you have all freedom to make it better or worse. Fully automatic correction nowadays doesn't make the experience worse, but it's still far away from a manually dialed in response.

piece of advice on the Logitech 5.1, system, dont place the control pod on the sub, in theory, it shouldn't be a problem, but as a tech, i can tell ive seen a LOT of weird "glitched" pods, and all of them were put on top of the sub, maybe is the vibration or the magnetic field, not sure what. (seen the issue with z5500 mostly, but seen it in these exact ones also)

Kef+sub desktop audio setup is definitely the way to go. The coaxial driver makes for an excellent near field experience. Was such a huge upgrade from the Logitech “speakers in a box” solution I’d used for years before.

As a sim racer, I knew Jake was a legit (sim racer) when he mentioned the CPU overheat warning. Probably running the T-rex mod x 32 grid on Shukoto, while raining in VR in the latest SOL mod at max in AC. Or not.

This is a really sick setup, he really chose his speakers well for his space. It’s really cool to see the audio getting some love. I bet his calibrated concentric kefs and sub sound better than anyone else’s setup at LMG.

As a Sim racing tragic, this is tickling all the right spots for me. There is a massive community that uses iRacing, I would love to see you guys do a video on what the average noob needs to know to get into the Sim in a cost effective way, and what a baller can invest in the ultimate setup.. Sim racing is something that even the non-gamer can relate to, most of us drive a car and believe we are the greatest driver on the planet, and some of the hardware is pretty nuts. I think it would be a popular video.

I have a 75hz 1440p 24inch monitor from LG and imma be honest, I don't think I need better. As someone who grew up on The Xbox 360 and Wii playing games at 720 to 1080p, I'am very content.

Nice to see my logitech 5.1 surround setup finally make it into some kinda LTT video! That things been serving me well for over 14 years and counting. Only issue is the back of the remote broke. Electrical tape and BAM good as new. May not sound the best, but it sounds pretty damn good and will still rock the paintings on the wall!

Those Vardar fans are quite excellent from case use and testing against other fans like Akasa vipers, Lian Li's fans, and others. I like the noise profile being pretty quiet to noisy under work load, but not deafening or distracting

Linus "losing his shit" over Jake's sim rig made me lol pretty hard... My rig has over $9k sunk into it (driving and flying, no motion)... and that doesn't even scratch the surface of getting into seat movers, slide movement or most expensive... full motion setups! Still cheaper than owning even a cheap sports car and blowing ~$2k PER track day... and that's just tires, brakes, fuel, track fees, etc... before you even get into vehicle maintenance/repairs!
