Ali was funny in prison because he wasn't afraid . Jokes are extremely dangerous when you're in a place where respect is the most valuable commodity. Cracking a joke on the wrong person will , at a minimum get you fucked up or possibly get you killed . Being funny is a risk no matter where you are but when you're in a cage full of killers it's a liability if you can't handle yourself.

For those of you seeing how this dude is overthinking this in the most extreme way possible let me explain because I did a little bit of time. This is the way most people are in jail believe me I’ve literally seen it first hand. You have to understand they’re in confined spaces with little to nothing to do 24/7 and what happens is your mind finds something to do within itself. The most extreme cases are those who do significant time in the solitary confinement aka the hole or the SHU. To punish the inmates who are already being punished they put them in the prison within the prison because the worst punishment you can give someone is solitary confinement which can literally cause you to lose your mind. It may sound crazy but I swear I literally remember sitting on my bunk and just observing everyone and having that realization and seeing how in their minds they thought there was so much going on like there was places to go people to see and things to do it was bizarre… oh and if you wanna talk about the drama haha it was worse than keeping up with the Kardashians. Human psychology and psychiatry is truly remarkable.

Respect to this man for surviving prison and keeping it together. You see his special Bigger Than These Bars you realise that it’s still a daily struggle for him not to snap. He spoke with his fellow inmates as a survivor that you can physically survive prison but if and when you are released can you survive prison on the outside mentally. It is quite a humbling sight to see these hardened criminals nodding in agreement to this insight as they speak about that despite Ali being free for over twenty years he still can’t shake off being referred to by his Prison I.D. number. God bless this man.

I've met some seriously "dangerous" dudes and they were almost always, with a few minor exceptions, the most humble people I've ever had the pleasure is meeting. My dad always taught me that, "there's ALWAYS someone out there who's taller, better looking, smarter, funnier, more athletic,, meaner, stronger and badder than you, so improve yourself and respect others, because the moment you think you're better, smarter or tougher than everyone else is the moment you get caught and proved to be incorrect."
