They had code names. The flame thrower was code named Fireball and the mortar troop was Madman. They're on the little green sticker on the front of the package and on the art on the cardback.

@@Retrotoyguysi Unfortunately not. Right now I'm rebuilding my Joe collection a little bit at a time, but I got couple of the American Defense Enemies in a lot a bit ago. Whilst going down the rabbit hole that is looking them up I got caught in a Trivia about General Patch and realized that those two have one of the least reused torsos from this line. As far as I know it was only used in one other line, Olmec's Bronze Bombers Hi-Tech.

I seem to recall seeing figures identical to these at both Magic and K Mart. They were called American Defense. The cards always carried two figures with helmets and the claw type design for the backpacks(which were always red for some reason). Every single figure in the line carried an M-16. Figures who could not wear helmets(due to head sculpts including odd hairstyles or hats) still received helmets. The card backs even had the same artwork for the cross sell. They also had access to the same vehicle range(including that red white and blue helicopter). My younger brother owned a few of these. His favorite guy was an afro and goatee sporting soldier he named Jeff. Jeff went on many adventures until his O ring tragically snapped as a result of trying to prove to Prune Head(a Star Wars alien) that he could grow taller.
@Retrotoyguysi

Poor old Jeff, he shall be missed! Although, if your brother still has that figure the O Ring can be changed. I had to replace all the O Rings in my A-Team figures and it’s a relatively easy job to do. Thanks for watching 😊👍

Yes, the original K-Mart American Defense used the Galoob molds. American Defense was K-mart's military knock off name, they switched to Remco "Swivel arm" figures later which ran for years, and then in the final days a different brand. But the Galoob molds soldiered on as Commando ranger and Demon Ranger and in some other various cheapo toys into the early 90's. There were accessory packs, too. Some larger ones with playmats.

@@Retrotoyguysi Yeah, the molds were everywhere for awhile. In the small town I lived, the few stores didn't carry GI JOE after about 1986, but they'd stock those Commando Ranger 2 packs. And another store (maybe Dollar General) had single cards under a different name. They had helmets with molded netting on them and some included like baseball helmets. Who knows why.

@@Retrotoyguysi Unfortunately, this is a common thing for pastors in America to say to their congregation. I remember back in the 80's, almost every mother I knew was scared that their kids might get into the game Dungeons & Dragons because it was supposed to be a gateway to demonic possession. Back in the 90's, when I was living in Washington State, there was a local Baptist church I would occasionally visit because I had friends who were members. One time I stopped by because a friend I knew from Alaska, Jacob, was there. I collect comic books, and I was showing him my comic book collection. He told me he didn't like comic books, so I asked him why, and he told me that the pastor there said that comic books were a gateway to hell. One of the dumbest things I have ever heard someone say. I felt pity for Jacob because he wasn't smart enough to know where someone was feeding him an obvious line of bullshit.

@@SniffHeinkel I guess we all grew up in different ways. I grew up in the UK and my family weren’t religious at all so I didn’t have any of those issues. The names of many of these figures are so awful it actually bothers me. Gunner Bill with a bazooka was my favourite, or maybe the Beard dude with no beard. It's crazy how many GI Joe style figures there were back in the day. I never had any interest in military toys when I was younger but there were lots of options for kids who liked this sort of thing. It's the rabbit hole that keeps on giving I guess.

I was just amazed by the lack of thought or care given to these figures. I think Galoob put all their creativity into the packaging then as a last minute decided to give the characters a name. The other lines were then a rip off of a GI Joe rip off. But I do wish I had these original Gen Patch figures back in the day. They really do go better with the A-Team then the correct bad guys. My favorite names have to be Dove and parachute Pete who never had a parachute 😂. Oh and some of the crazy 70’s porn star looks they have the figures 😂. Good times… Thanks for watching dude 👍😊

Its funny i was going to say here that they would make better enemys to the a team and you say it lol i got 1 of them as well pick hom up in Birmingham. Now it would be interested to see if anyone realised that gen patch vehicles are the same as the a team. Yes so many lines there is to collect if you wanted to

It’s funny, I’d never seen or heard of them before, it was only because I was searching A-team on Boonsart and these came up in the search. Quite a few of the variants I show were also from his web shop. I’d love to get a few of the Gen Patch vehicles as I think they look better than the A-team ones. Always thought it was weird that the Team had a tank 😁 Thanks for watching 😊👍

@@travelswithjasonf1463 I just bought the ERTL Corvette to add to my A-Team collection that I never intended to collect😂. You picked up that awesome ERYL helicopter in Birmingham if I remember.

Interesting, I have Bluetooth microphone which I use and I have never had a problem other than sometimes it pops if I clip it too close to my mouth. 🤷‍♂️ Well thanks for bringing it to my attention 😊👍

Yes, well I have to disguise my voice like Batman……. No, you are not the first to point this out, it’s a cheap microphone which I have now upgraded. If you check out my latest video (Galoob A Team Face) the sound quality should be better. 😊👍

The brown suited guy is the Brute by packaged examples. And the other villain "The Masher" had a goatee. The Masher is a curious name for that villain. "masher in American English (ˈmæʃər) noun. slang. a man who makes advances, esp. to women he does not know, with a view to physical intimacy."

Hmm, in retrospect not the best name then 😂. In the UK we use to have mashed potatoes and the tool you would use to prepare this meal is called a Masher, so that’s where my thoughts went. Thanks for watching 😊👍

@@Retrotoyguysi Most people would think potato masher. It's very dated slang in the USA, like letch/lech. Not something you hear a lot anymore.
