I am in disbelief of emergency response. They made her WALK to the ambulance after being SHOT?? Wouldn't that destabilize the wound and send more blood pumping where it shouldn't?? Can any EMTs weigh in on this? Also, "Why didn't you leave?" is an ignorant, insensitive question and one that blames the victim. The cycle of abuse and the manipulative hold of psychopaths is well-documented. Interviewers that reach out to survivors of abuse need to do their research and ditch this question NOW. It normalizes the abuser's response and not the survivor's heroism.
@lhaaale6 ай бұрын
I think that question gets asked because the interviewer knows that some viewers will be wondering, rather than ignorance. Leaving an abusive relationship is universally difficult, but everyone has their own reasons, known or not, to stay, and recognition and speaking out about these reasons can help other victims break the cycle.
@joiathegreat3 ай бұрын
I'm not an EMT but have had CPR and first aid response training in the past. In regards to her walking, my guess is the EMTs thought it was safer for her to walk if she can, rather than risk any damage or possible further damage to her spine because of the wound location, or it would take precious time to maneuver her and she was bleeding out, quicker = better in that situation. Also, EMTS are humans like the rest of us, doing the best we can in all situations, with imperfect equipment, within imperfect systems, in an imperfect world.

Emilie Clancy deserves a medal and a lot of recognition. It may not seem like much, to stay with a gunshot victim and stabilize them while calling 911, but it’s massive. I’ve been on either side of this kind of thing and you can’t imagine how much it changes your life. When someone might be dying in your arms you are never “normal again.” Similarly, when you’re dying it’s horrifying and having someone there is so important (which I guess Nicole didn’t experience). Point is, I think there’s a zero percent chance Emilie doesn’t have PTSD. As someone with PTSD, I have so much respect for someone who willingly alters their life forever for a stranger. Most people will never realize how much something like that can ruin your life, but it can and does. She deserves so much for her sacrifice.

Tim is a toxic narcissist through and through, no regard for his own son, no compassion for him and how it will impact him for the rest of his life to know he was the one behind his mother being nearly killed. When he couldn’t control Nicki he began making allegations against her and her new boyfriend of sexual abuse towards the child, and such accusations are extremely horrific to imagine but he purposely made it up, just to make Nicki ‘s life a nightmare. When he lost custody and was allowed only a single visitation a week he had then resorted to using a vulnerable teenager to do the shooting of the mother of his son. A child he didn’t want born., and asked her to abort. This man is a complete disgrace to humanity. Toxic narcissist who doesn’t think about anything else but getting his way, controlling and abusing people in order to satisfy his twisted agenda. Psychopath as well most likely..!

My step son from many years ago, fell in love with a girl and at 18 years of age, they proceeded to get married. After they were married, we discovered that she was pregnant. They had a beautiful baby boy and it seemed as if they were very happy. My stepson ended up coming to work with me and after a very short time, he started complaining about his wife. And how much he hated how they were together. Constantly fighting and she was complaining about how much alcohol he was drinking every day. Many times he spoiled about wanting to leave her. This was something that he would talk about almost daily. Then something happened and she ended up locking him out of the house and she filed for divorce. When this happened, I personally saw my stepson become obsessed with the fact that she left him and that he was insulted by this. I cannot begin to tell you how many times the police would come to my home looking for him because of something he did. He would slash her tires, break into her apartment and threaten her and then he actually took his son and attempted to run away with him. It was a sickening obsession about control. He ended up getting arrested and then deported. This case is very similar and all I can say is thank God she lived and was able to get both people behind bars!!! Hopefully she will find people and happiness with her new husband

I wish there was a way to prove mental manipulation and verbal abuse enough to make the abusive parent unable to have partial custody and stop the ability to cause such destruction. Not only does the abusive parent disrupt the lives of everyone in their path, it can mentally damage the child that is used as the pawn.

I had a stalking civil protection order before she was born but he always violated it and never did more than a few hrs in county jail. Shes 19 now and a freshman in college and hes not been a part of her life. Luckily hes never had any visitation with her and he personally never tried bc hes been an addict for 23 yrs and never tried to get clean either. His parents tried for visitation, but Ohio doesnt have grandparent rights, and bc he lived with them and was actively using anyway, the magistrate didnt grant it. Asking an abuse victim why they stayed is revictimizing. There can be many, many reasons for staying, one being the abuse is also psychological making the victim feel they can't leave. Look up "learned helplessness". Study narcissism and you'll understand this case entirely. Tim is clearly either a narcissist or a sociopath.
@zxy78267 Жыл бұрын
I think he may be both.
@donnaw4249 Жыл бұрын
I actually disagree with you. I think it depends why you're asking. If you're asking "why did you stay?" In a manner that suggests the victim was stupid for staying etc, then it's wrong. But if you're asking for the purpose of genuinely trying to understand what was going through her head at the time and hearing it firsthand from her, then I don't believe it's fair to assign a distasteful motive in that instance. It's easy to make assumptions about people who ask that kind of question, because it's often asked in a patronising and belittling manner. But you're also in danger of misreading a person's tone and true intent when it's asked for the purpose of genuine curiosity or intrigue, and I believe that was the motive in this instance.

If you are ever in a domestic violence situation please leave. Especially, if the person has strangled you. Why? Because you deserve better and because it will save your life. Strangulation increases the chances of that partner killing you. It's one of the biggest indicators that determines if a violent partner will lead to your death. Edit: As @morselthegod stated when, you leave don't give them any warning. When an abuse victim leaves it's one of the most dangerous times of the relationship.
