Praise God , after being a Catholic also most of my life i was astonished on how the Catholic Church has changed the scriptures of our living God, purgatory no were in the Bible, not to make images or statues of things in heaven or on this earth. Every where you look in the Catholic church you see statues and idols. When i got married my wifes father was a independent Baptist ,and after looking into each and what the catholic church believes was shocking to me after years of communion conformation and even having family members in the church. They could not answer questions i had it was more about what the church wanted not what God wanted ,changing his words in scripture was over the line. Thats when i got saved and actually for the first time new what salvation was about and repentance asking him into your heart and becoming saved.

Only God is without beginning and end. Jesus fits that description perfectly well as per John 1 and the other Gospels. Indeed the Lord says, "before Abraham was, I AM." (John 8). Everything n everyone has a beginning and only God doesn't. What's interesting of this mysterious figures is that He was described as worrior and Jesus the meek Humble Servabt of God is a ultimate warrior who defeat the greatest enemy of mankind.

Honestly, tithing has become so convoluted. What's clear is, God has no use for 10% of anything worldly. The tithing was to help the unfortunate, not line the pockets of Pastors with carnal hearts. And the 10% was food. Crops and livestock, to be exact. Not monetary tithing. Even when Jesus walked the planet, ppl gave what they could to show him their gratitude, appreciation and commitment. They never gifted him with gold. Food, shelter, love and respect is what they offered to Him. And he accepted it. If you are truly a child of The Most High God, you would be careful not to counsel people about tithing. Salvation, love forgiveness, faithfulness, and the relationship with The Most High God should be your ministry, not money.

Churches are expensive to run. Tithes pay for the building, land, musical instruments, heating & cooling, electricity, maintenance, cleaners, pastor’s salary, secretary, accountant, caretaker, etc. salaries. There’s the cost of teaching materials, projectors, communion service plates & cups, furnishings, etc. None of it is cheap. Churches also sponsor community charity, another cost. So the people doing God’s work & the venue expenses do need our tithes. We are expected too fund our churches-no one else is going to.

American - Brit. True, but Christianity spread faster before they were legalized and given places to worship by the Roman Emperor Constantine. Jesus told his disciples not to take money credit cards or luggage with them but to rely upon God to find someone who would be willing to take them in and feed them. Also by having nothing on you, money etc, you are less of a target for robbers. The early church spread mostly through people witnessing to their neighbours of their own personal experience. You can’t argue with personal experience. The churches are exclusive. They are a company and like any company money is paramount if it is to survive and grow.

This was very insightful. I definitely think that Melchizedek was a real person and that this priesthood line that was not appointed by bloodline, but by God's own choice of a man to represent him-this was God's "Plan A" as Dr Heiser often says. But it seems that after Melchizedek there was no one to fulfill the role and so for the years in Egypt, Abraham's descendants had no priest. But then God called Moses and it seems like he wanted him to be like Melchizedek. God chose him, told him that he would be like God to Pharaoh and to the people and he could have been LIKE a king to Israel and also a priest, or so it seems by his calling. But Moses protests and says he does not speak well and no one will listen to him and this makes God angry, so he tells Moses that he will have Aaron help him. Then from then on we see that Aaron has a pretty big role in the plagues as it is HIS rod that HE (aaron) throws down in front of Pharaoh and it is Aaron's rod and aaron's hand that turns the Nile to blood and the next plague was also done by Aaron's rod and hand and I never realized that until I was studying out Melchizedek. So it almost seems like moses could have been the next Melchizedek, but his faith caused him to forfeit the position and so Aaron's line became the high priests TEMPORARILY because remember-God's "plan A" had been the order of Melchizedek where HE (God) chose his own servant to be priest. So When Jesus comes as the high priest in heaven in the order of Melchizedek, now things are back to the way God always wanted-the "plan A" of God most high. :) ALso, the term "without father" was Jewish Idiom of sorts. It was the wording used when referring to who could not be a priest. It basically meant that they did not have the fatherly bloodline to be a priest if they were not of the bloodline of Aaron. If someone married into the aaronite family they could not be a priest because their bloodline was not from Aaron. So they would say "he is without father". SO the language in Hebrews about "without father or mother and without genealogy" in my opinion, seems to be referring to the fact that he did not have the bloodline of Aaron (aaron was not even born yet at the time of Melch.) and yet he was appointed by God himself, just as Jesus was. It could very well be Shem. I have no problem with that ideology. It seems quite reasonable. As for why God set up the 10% tithe to the Levitical priesthood and also why he set the temple and the priestly system to be held in Jerusalem, I think, also goes back to Melchizedek. Salem was what would later become Jerusalem. We tend to always think in types and shadows, but sometimes it seems like God also does things to help his people look back and remember things of importance. This 10% tithe and the holy city being established as Jerusalem seems to be done to help Israel think BACK to Melchizedek. He wanted the legacy of Melch. to be in the their minds forever so that when he brought Jesus as the high priest, it could be drawn back to Melch. and he would not have been forgotten, because after all, everytime they gave a tithe and every time they went to Jerusalem for feasts and worship, they would have Melch. in the back of their minds. :)

In Arabic, (and probably in Hebrew, too), the root for king is 3 consonants: MLK. Malik means king. When you see Melchizedek, realize that in Hebrew, there is no short vowel between M and L consonants. The first component of the name is, therefore, KING. King ZDK. I tried to find a meaning for ZDK... no exact matches, but SDK means “your grandfather.” So, if considered a ‘noun in construct’, this could mean something like, “the king of your grandfather.” Just a quick put-together hypothesis. Peace. Update: found it as SDQ, which means “truth.” This gives us, “King of Truth” or something like, “the true king” or (my favorite) “The king who is truth”/“the king who posseses truth.”

Every word in the bible has a Spiritual meaning, but everyone wants to translate it materialisticly. Example... to find the real garden of Eden on earth, why not ask a talking snake? The garden is a spiritual state of being, the snake is that which puts matter before Spirit. Time has come to put away our materialistic translations in favor of Spiritual translations. God bless.

The ONLY think we need to know about Melchizedek is, HE WAS {BOTH} HIGH PRIEST {AND} KING. Why is this important? It's important because no king was also a High Priest, and no High Priest was also a King. THAT POSITION IS RESERVED FOR THE MESSIAH AND ONLY THE MESSIAH! This is why king Saul was ripped from the Kingdom. He tried to act as priest. This is why king Uzziah was struck with leprosy. He tried to act as priest. The reason it is important that Abraham did tithe is explained in Hebrews 7. Levi being within Abraham tithed to Melchizadek because He does a work for YHVH that is greater than the work they do on Earth. So they tithed to Him to show that Melchizadek is greater than the Levitical priesthood, of which no man is worthy. Therefore the argument given throughout the first chapters of Hebrews comes up again being that Yeshua (Jesus) is YHVH whom is Melchizadek (King of Righteousness) Melchisalem (King of Peace).

Read William R Newells commentary on the Book of Hebrews. There he speaks about Melchizedeks kingly and priestly ministry. In my opinion, Melchizedek was a man. Unique and great in the sense that he was chosen by God most High to serve as a priest with no priestly lineage. This is the meaning behind the book of Hebrews when it describes his ministry as a kind and priest. He was king of Salem and priest of God most high. Jesus Christ was a priest after the order (likeness) of Melchizedek in that He had no earthly genealogy that gave him a right to be a priest in the levitical system. This is the whole and only meaning of it. The apostle Paul in Hebrews is setting out to convince Hebrew Christians of a better covenant a better ministry. One that surpasses the levitical system given through the hand of Moses. Melchizedek was just a mortal man who was even greater than Abraham in his service before God. He blessed him, offered bread and wine (symbolic of the blood and body of Jesus Christ) and the bible says that the lesser was blessed by the greater. I think it is ok for Christians to disaggree on who they think Melchizedek is. If I am wrong, I dont think it will be detrimental to my standing with God. God bless

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the peoples. Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.” Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.” Isaiah 55

While Nimrod and all of Babylon were turning to evil ways, the "King" because Nimrod was King, the "King of Righteousness " Melchezidek was "going around" the priest of Eliyon. He went around preaching and reminding his nieces and nephews about the Father Creator. Everyone was at work building the tower of Babel. Shem should've been the only priest to speak of Eliyon as just a man because of their relationship considering what everyone else was doing, and his was the first priesthood in that way so it had no father or mother.(to be intellectual) Yah comes in the order of that pure priesthood (considering so few listened to Him, And His Closeness with Yahuah)and in the name oh His Father. If Shem and Nimrod were alive that means they were like his family to him. Same as Yahusha Hamashiach who came,and His tribe and nation didn't receive Him or His words and He was hung on a tree. Therefore He shall be High Priest forever ... but up the tower people went anyway. Now they try to imply that Shem worshipped Zedek (a Canaanite Deity) because we're no longer fooled by your lies. The young Canaanites weren't born yet as a nation!

They were all gentiles, Greeks, Romans, Persians, Babylonians and Edomites, acting under the authority of Rome. Jews were the name given to non-Hebrew Israelites living in the land of Judiah and Jerusalem at the time of Yashua. That is why scripture says it was the Jews, who rejected Christ. If I love my neighbor as myself.... how do I look past the needs he has, just because he doesn't attend church with me....and we have to tithe to keep the building maintained and all the needs of the church/building etc....and look past the need of neighbors? That's why the government ended up taking care of widows and orphans...because the church didn't... I'm to be a good steward....Does it make me a good steward to give my money God gave me to someone else who knows better how to spend it? Or is the "church" filled with many who have unforgiveness in their heart but still go and leave their gift at the altar....not reconciling? These are things I think on too... What are we accountable for? Who forgives debt? I have known few in my life...how about you? I think that Sacrifice is a picture of tithing....not so new under the sun. This guy is wrong about Tithing. Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils from the battle, he didn't start a system of tithing. Abraham was not under the Law, the law came four hundred and thirty years after Abraham. Paul explained how the Church was to give and help one another, those in need, the poor, orphans , widows, etc...... Tithing was explained very clearly it was for the tribe of Israel and involved the Levi Priesthood. It's explain in Exodus to Deut. plus more..... The Levi’s had no inheritance of land, their inheritance was God. The Levi’s were set aside to minster to God and to the tribes of Israel. The children of Israel were responsible for gathering the tithes at the appointed times, and brought it only to the Levi Priest. There’s quite a bit on this matter in great details. Tithing had to do with the Levi Priesthood which was chosen by God-That would be the Tribe of Levi, the only Priesthood God had. Moses and Aaron were of the Levites, Aaron was anointed High Priest. Tithing was set up for Israel, they were to help provide for the Levi’s and others that were in need among them. The tithes were given to directly to the Levi’s Priest. The Levi Priest was never to suppose to be replaced with others outside of the Levi Tribe. Although they tried to replace God's priest-that didn't go well with God Exodus 30: And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.30 And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that [they] may minister unto me in the priest's office. 31 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations. Deuteronomy 10:9 8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day. 9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.

He gives a very good history of Melchizedek. I believe the whole point in the book of Hebrews is not who Melchizedek is, but who we are. Jesus was not a descendant of Levi. He didn't have the lineage to be a Jewish Priest. Christ was a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek was without a history of who he was. He was before Jacob, yet he was a priest. He was without beginning or end. As believers we are part of Christ church, the body of Christ. There is no more a priesthood after the old order. Yahweh is the beast, see hosea 13 : 4-8 and the beast is Baal see hosea 2 : 16. baali = baal and baali was another name for yahweh. Jesus said no one has ever seen my father or heard his voice. he said that to the Jews who were worshipping Yahweh at that time. Jesus told the Jews that if you don't worship him then you don't worship the true father. the Jews still worship Yahweh and they don't worship Jesus so the God they worship is not the father of Jesus. Stephen breaks it down in acts 7. the Jews worship angels and the law was given to them by angels. We fight not against flesh and blood we fight against principalities or principles. which means we are fighting against the ordained laws or not the laws themselves but those that ordained them.

1) To me, it is obvious, but like some things in Scripture, it is not required for all to know it, such as Jesus saying "to whomever can receive it, let him receive it" as He did with John the Baptist being the Elijah to come. Why then, do some Christians think Elijah is one of the 2 witnesses when Jesus made it clear that Elijah has ALREADY come? Because not all can receive His saying and something go over certain people's heads. Now ... for Melchizedek: 2) Melchizedek has neither beginning of days, nor ending. *That is in reference to ETERNALITY,* for Jesus also has neither beginning nor ending. 3) *Melchizedek is the King of Salem.* It is a disturbing lie to read Jewish and Christian Commentaries that insert "Jerusalem." No. There is nothing about the CITY of Peace. There is literally nothing in the Text that says "Jeru-salem". Nothing. That is an insertion of man, and the blind leaders who don't know the difference. There is only "peace" (Salem - shalom) written in the Text. In fact, there is no city mentioned at all. PEACE is intangible. You cannot see or touch it. 4) *Melchizedek is the King of Righteousness.* How can a mortal man be the KING of Righteousness!? Only GOD can have such a title! It would be blasphemy to give a title that belongs only to God, to mortal men! 5) *There is literally no such thing as the "priesthood" of Melchisedek.* That is literally never written. It does not exist in the Text. Saying there is a "priesthood" of Melchizedek is as much an insertion and an error (intentional or otherwise) as inserting 'Jerusalem' into the Text when the Text clearly says "Salem" only. There is, likewise, NO mention of any other priests or successors, NO mention of any Temple, NO mention of any 3b & 4b & 5B) "My Kingdom is NOT of this world" - Jesus 6) *Melchizedek is both King and High Priest.* No one else can be both. No king can also be high priest, and no high priest can also be king. ONLY Melchizedek was this, and ONLY Jesus is this. 7) *His very name means KING OF RIGHTEOUSNESS* Do you not hear the blasphemy in that, to call a mere mortal, the KING over RIGHTEOUSNESS!? The very NAME is DIVINE! FAST FORWARD TO THE NEW TESTAMENT 8) *The author of Hebrews mentions things that a sacred to the Jews, showing hos Jesus is GREATER than all of the things, but when it comes to Melchizedek, the author does NOT show Jesus as being GREATER, but instead, he shows Jesus as being {EQUAL} to Melchizedek.* When you read the surrounding Chapters in that light, it becomes clear that the one thing the author does not make Jesus "greater than," is Melchizedek. But instead, he considers Jesus to be "equal to." 8) *The author is holding something back about Melchizedek.* He says that there are things he wants to tell them about Melchizedek, but they are all too weak and unspiritual and unlearned. He even complains about their spiritual immaturity - rebukes them for it, even. So, the question is, WHAT is it that the author wants to tell the saints about Melchizedek? That he is GOD in the flesh? That he is Christ (Christophany)? And why is this so hard to imagine? Did not Jacob wrestle with a MAN that he called GOD? Did not three MEN visit Abraham of whom he called his Lord, Yahweh? 10) *Because the greater always blesses the lessor.* It is firmly established and considered that Abraham was the most righteous man alive in those days. So, if he was the MOST righteous, what in the world could be MORE Righteous than the MOST righteous? Only GOD! The greater blessed the lessor. 11) And this one, to me, seals the deal. *ABRAHAM GAVE TO MELCHIZEDEK WHAT {{BELONGS}} TO GOD! HE GAVE HIM THE TITHE!* You cannot give what belongs to God to anything else! And no righteous man would take what belongs to God unto himself. It would be robbery, perhaps sin! So, why does Abraham, who knew better, give what belongs to GOD, to a moral man? It is for the same reason Abraham went running off to three strangers, bowed, and call them his master! Melchizedek has to be GOD!

That can also suggest a lineage that we are not told great details about..yet it's ordained. But on basic scripture we see Jesus is high priest forever and ever...ETERNAL. Tithes is Mosaic law. We don't want to tithe unless we want to put ourselves under the law again. And there were various tithes which add up to more than 10%. We are to give sacrificially and generously, not just 10%. For that matter, our lives are to be living sacrifices. We need to give a lot more than our finances!

@Christiaan Overgaard Do a study on tithing and you will understand why we are not required to tithe. We are to obey the moral law but we are no longer bound by the ceremonial laws. Tithing is not part of the moral law. Tithing was tied to the land Israel received under the old covenant (the land of promise). If you want to be a stickler for obeying the ceremonial laws then you must obey all the tithes - 1. Levitical/sacred tithe 2. tithe of the feasts 3. tithe for the poor. That comes up to about 20%. By the way, they tithed off of their produce of the land. You'd better start planting!! Instead, we are called to give willingly, generously and sacrificially (not legalistically).

The almighty God does not require a cent to accomplish anything, what we do personaly with what we consider valuable for others is a matter. Tithing (gifting) to a church built by the hands of men is FAR diffrent than giving it to his living body that is poor, we are the temple of The most high.

I think the scripture is clear. The book of Genesis and Psalms are supported in Hebrews by the fact that the author is attempting to demonstrate to the Hebrews the supremacy of Christ even beyond Melchizedek. Imagine thousands of years of Judaism now found in the person of Jesus Christ. Traditional Judaism recognizes Abraham but does not acknowledge the divinity of Christ. Yet Abraham paid homage to Melchizedek. I believe Melchizedek was placed strategically by God in the Book of Genesis and Psalms to support God’s message to the Hebrews to clearly demonstrate the divinity of Christ to unbelieving Hebrews. God wisely (as always) does not deem it important for us to know the origins of Melchizedek as that is not His focus. As always, the focus should be the person of Christ Jesus.

No it's seems to me a lot of people try to dissect the word rather expressing it. Love is key for Jesus reveals the nature of the father and his true love for us. May forget to show the love of the father. Forgeting to do his will and only express how much they know and what people should do rather than being an example for him. Salt of the earth, a beacon of light. No wonder people stay away no a days. You have the Catholics burning at the stake and in this generation people become as the Jews back in the day how they recit scripture of how much they know and but dont practice what they preach. Show the love of the father, preach the word and lead them to christ. That's the plan.

Melchizedek is important because Jesus is a Priest of the "Order of Melchizedek", they both offered bread and wine to the most High, Jesus during the Last Supper, after blessing the bread and wine he said This is my body "the bread" and this is my blood "the wine" also it is the new an everlasting covenant. He said do this (blessing and offering of bread and wine) in Memory of me (a memorial) to his disciples (ordaining them as new priest at that moment by that command ),also read John 6 ,25-69 about the bread of life, and if you want to see this in real time (the blessing or consecration of the bread and wine) go to a Catholic Mass any day of the week. We believe that the consecrated bread and wine are the body and blood of Jesus Christ, so as he said we eat his flesh and drink his blood literally check John 6, 53-56 .

This claim that Abraham established a "principle" for a tithe before the law, that's a warped apologetic for tithing to man-made church organizations today. Abraham handed over to Melchizedek a tenth of the spoils of his conquest, from property that was never his to begin with, AND that he returned to the rightful owners what was left. False teachers never do say anything about where Abraham's wealth was located, because it certainly wasn't a part of those spoils. He certainly didn't take his wealth with him on a mission of war. His wealth was still up in northern Canaan. He gave not one red cent of his own personal wealth to the priest. It doesn't matter that the custom of that day was that the victor kept the spoils. Abraham demonstrated his system of higher values and ethics by returning the property to the rightful owners. How many of you out there find a wallet, claim "Losers, weepers," take out the cash to put in your own kick, toss the wallet, and move on? If you are that type, then this doesn't apply to you. If we be honest about that scenario with Abraham and look at all the dynamics and facts, this teaching about tithing to church organizations is purely a false teaching.

Melchizedek is the title given to the priest/King who represents God on earth. Melchizedek is analogist to the Pope in Catholicism, meaning it's not the name of one particular man but a title of a priestly order given in secession to the righteous person representing God on earth. The priest/king of Salem was the Melchizedek in the time of Abraham, scripture does not say who the person was who came directly after him. What scripture does say is Christ was a priest/king in the Melchizedek order.

So many words...yet missed the greatest mystery- Melchizedek was a JEBUSITE and what he worshipped was the God EL with exclusion of all other local deities and names. This is the priesthood of that city- and when David became its King and conquered Jerusalem, he was proclaimed the high priest according to THAT order.... This is why the sons of David are called "Kohanim." Anyway.... There's a lot more here than speculations about tithes.

Just as Abram had a name change to Abraham and Jacob to Israel so was Shem's name son of Noah given the name after the High Order of God - even after God's Priesthood which is Melchizedek to avoid the use of the name of God.

Ok all you have to do is look at the name. It is Righteous King or king of righteousness. If you are a Christian and are grafted in the vine through Jesus, you should know your roots.Malchezadec is a type of Christ an historic background. Baalam and Malchizadec are explained in full in Jewish writings. Baalm was a sorcerer who consorted with demons in the same cave where Mohamed wrote the Koran. This clears a lot up. The video clears the rest of the picture up.

Correct he didn't write it he couldn't ,he was illiterate. He received it from a "Demon" in the same cave where Balaam was initiated in witchcraft. They had same teacher . He claimed it but it was someone else. You can tell the tree by the fruit. So Balaam knew Adoni. satin knows too. Both can quote Torah but Mohamed got it mixed up just like Balaam.They were no good.,both Mohamed and Balaam.Yet Mohamed keeps giving his evil.

Please compare the account of Shem's descendants in the masoretic text with that of the early hebrew text. It appears that each generation lost 100 years. Shem would not have outlived most of his descendants in that earlier timeline and would not be around to meet Abram. Something is off. Was this done to hide the true identity of Melchezidek? As you assume the timeline fits Shem, so too others will. Yet we know the beginning and end of Shem. We know his father and mother. 10 And these are the generations of Sem: Sem was a son of one hundred years when he became the father of Arphaxad, in the second year after the flood. […] 12 And Arphaxad lived one hundred thirty-five (MT: thirty-five) years and became the father of Sala. […] 14 And Sala lived one hundred thirty (MT: thirty) years and became the father of Eber. […] 16 And Eber lived one hundred thirty-four (MT: thirty-four) years and became the father of Phalek. […] 18 And Phalek lived one hundred thirty (MT: thirty) years and became the father of Ragau. […] 20 And Ragau lived one hundred thirty-two (MT: thirty-two) years and became the father of Serouch. […] 22 And Serouch lived one hundred thirty (MT: thirty) years and became the father of Nachor. […] 24 And Nachor lived seventy-nine (MT: twenty-nine) years and became the father of Thara. […] 26 And Thara lived seventy years (130 years -> Abram) and became the father of Abram and Nachor and Harran.

There was sabbath in the beginning signifying the end of the work of creation- God saw that everythingHe createdwas GOOD! Nothing more to add, but God had to give it up to start the work of salvation. John 5:17; 14: 10-30. Then Jesus Christ Himself became our rest or rather, the Rest or Sabbath for all who would believe and trust in Him as Lord and Savior. They rest in all He did for their sakes. So they just wait on Him being filled and led daily by the Holy Spirit Who He sent, as they search daily in the scriptures to get to know Him better and understand what to do before He returns.

Ronke Barber um no. So explain to me this very simple thing. Will the Sabbath be kept in heaven? Also did the early church (who new Christ best) keep the sabbath?
@ronkebarber6238
@ronkebarber6238 4 жыл бұрын
@@ajbobbidy Nothing in the scriptures indicates that they kept the sabbath. If they gathered together on the 1st day of the week, nothing explained why and nothing indicated they must do that on the very day. They gathered as they were led. For instance, Paul ministered in the synagogue, but it was because there were found the Jews- his brethren that he wished would understand the same way he did that Jesus Christ, whom they despised as he did, was indeed the Messiah. God is looking for those who would worship Him in Spirit and in Truth- no matter the day, the place, as long as they're gathered in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. As for the sabbath being kept in Heaven, we are told in the scriptures that those that do not make it to the heavenly Jerusalem on earth, will make yearly pilgrimage to bring their offsprings and tributes. They will keep the sabbath, which is Holy to the Lord Isaiah 66:23.

One can't argue that because tithing appears before the inception of the Law then it is applicable in the New Testament. The building of altars for worship is mentioned in the Law in Exodus 20:25 but it was practiced by the patriarchs long before the onset of the Law. Does that mean that we are meant to build physical altars today? Also, the shedding of blood for restitution of sin is mentioned in the Law in Leviticus 1. But the patriarchs used to offer blood sacrifices long before the Law. Does that mean that we are meant to offer blood sacrifices today? So we have three items that preceded the Law: Tithing, Altars, and Blood Sacrifices. Why do these preachers home in on tithing and cold-shoulder the other two? It's because tithing earns them money while altars and blood sacrifices don't. In the book The Gospel of Health, Wealth and Prosperity, Lars Wilhermsson writes: "False prophets are usually motivated by greed. Their love of money, which is the root of all evil, makes them seek huge sums of money from their followers so they can live in the lap of luxury. Luxurious living is often used as evidence of God's blessing in their life and ministry. Wealth is a sign of God's approval and the faith of the leader. The more faith, the more money. All kinds of manipulative techniques are brought to bear on gullible followers to extract their hard-earned money."

I don't know if I would go so far as to say Melchizadek was Jesus but he certainly was a prototype of Jesus. The NT writers didn't claim them as the same person either. They came very close though.

What man has neither a begining or end of life? Only Jesus. Hebrews 7 1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 *without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life;* but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Jesus also said Abraham knew him previously: 52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. 53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? 54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 *Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.* 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. GOD IS OUTSIDE OF TIME:

So who was he, no one can answer that because they barely step out of a few bible verses and then spend the rest of the time twisting other verses around to make them mean something different. That is what I love about the NT, it is so mix and match, you can say anything and back it up with one or two other verses...that completes a testimony, me, myself and I.....that is good enough isn't it....considering the fate of the whole of humanity's eternal future depends on the words, we better be sure we are doing it right, I mean, was it supposed to be a mosaic to cater to everyone, or it is a book that guides you into a righteous life here on earth. Showing you all the mistakes of everyone along the way, to learn what to and what not to do...not about believing in a mystical sky saviour saving you through a human blood sacrifice. That's fucked up. Most people are not so hideous, and those that are deserve to die.
