Wrong on the English language point. It’s established early that John Blackthorn is fluent in Portuguese and so is Mariko. It’s also pointed out she’d been studying Portuguese for more than a dozen years.

So basically she didn't do anything except annoy her husband and risk her family's lives by joining a foreign cult, even though her husband had saved her life. Then she became famous for her husband ordering her servants to kill her if she was about to be taken captive. She was just Tadaoki's wife who had no official position. Tadaoki was the important one as Head of the Hosokawa clan and great warrior. His spirit is probably chopping Clavell's spirit to pieces for outrageously slandering his memory.

@@zousanda1 The original version by the Jesuits that Tadaoki instructed her servants to kill her seems the most likely version to me. Hosokawa Tadaoki being portrayed as Buntaro is being greatly disrespected in this show.

To make the novel fit in the time available, James Clavell cut all the scenes that Blackthorn wasn’t privy to. Shortening the run time and making it all from Blackthorn’s POV.

Yes there's definitely some leeway here guys, she definitely would not have had a Maiko hair do, but this guys doing stuff and it's better than an ai , if ya don't like it don't watch it......or if your so critical create for everyone to enjoy your version peeps 😁

Great story channel , but please the graphic arts is a mix of Chinese style gaming inspired digital “art” that want imitate Japanese , mixed in a poor way , really painful … but great story !

Its a Chinese the difference you can see is that Chinese Hanfu doesn’t have inner wear the inner wear are wrap around the chest while Japanese Kimono have 3-4 inner layers. Chinese garments are also warp(criss-crossed) a bit lower shows a bit more upper chest and neck while Japanese garment usually covers the upper chest Chinese garment will be draped a bit more loose while Japanese will be draped more tightly

also the accessories the art is wearing a Chinese traditional accessory head gear and her hair is led down loose those chains and laces are woven into her hair as decorations Japanese will have either clear chopped hair like Mariko on the show or pulled all her hair and knot and tied firmly so that no strands will fall down

I like the real history but you guys mess up the shows details so much. Such as the fact that Mariko speaks Portuguese in the show it's just all western languages are spoken in English

@@stevebubbie1126 I figured it was to make the interaction with Japanese more prolific. Like all the Western languages were similar enough but engaging with Japanese was truly a foreign experience
