I think saying that 'there's no debate' is wrong here. I think a lot of teams don't regret not selecting Hill. He's fast, but he can't escape his domestic violence past. Look at Hunt, a monster at the RB position, who was cut and not picked up until after the end of the year and only by his former GM. I think that hindsight is 20/20, and knowing Hill is a great player increases his draft stock, but his repeated offenses also make him an issue

Michael Thomas wasn’t the best steal of the draft. Hill was. You can argue that one is a better WR than the other, but Thomas was taken about mid-second round while Hill wasn’t taken until the fifth round. It’s painfully obvious that Hill was a bigger steal in the draft than Thomas was.

Taking receivers with high picks isn’t the best thing to do. There are certainly those rare freaks that come along, like Moss or Julio, but if you have halfway decent QB talent, I’d only go 2nd round & below. The 1st round is for those hard to get positions like DEs, QBs, LBs & OTs. And kickers, of course.
