Who where the minute men? What did it mean to be a colonial soldier in Massachusetts at the start of the American Revolution? What arms and equipment did they carry and how often did they train? Watch and find out!

@Jonathan Galindo they don't, the tyranny and governmental over reach happening in today's time is not being contested, took very little for the men during those times to pick up arms for taxes against tea and even taxes on whiskey rebellion

I remember reading in an Osprey book about the battles around "Boston 1775" and one important thing to note was many of the militiamen were veterans from the French and Indian War. I believe Captain Parker, one of the commanding officers at the battle famous for giving the order not to fire unless fired upon, was a veteran of Roger's Rangers.

Themed factions. in Fallout New Vegas (which made by Black Isle old gangs, approved by Bethesda) there were Caesar's Legion. which are themed after Old Roman Empire. Minutemen in F4 are themed after eponymous colonial era militiamen. though their uniform became increasingly closer to Continental Army. And player became their leader very immediately.

Did the minutemen have any type of ranks? Like Captain or Sergeant?
@MinuteManNPS3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking! Yes they did. Minute man companies (40-60 men) were modeled closely on the regular army. Each company had corporals and sergeants (Non-commissioned officers) as well as 2 lieutenants and a Captain (commissioned officers). Further, each company was combined with several other companies to form a regiment which was commanded by a Colonel, Lt. Colonel, and a Major. However, when the war began on April 19, 1775 this level of organization was still incomplete.

@@UncertifiedAttorney Good question. It's a bit complicated. Most often when the militia was called upon to reinforce the Continental Army militiamen from a particular area were drafted from their "parent" company or regiment and formed into a short-term provisional regiment. Such units were usually named for the commanding officer and still retained their regional identity. Only in cases of imminent invasion would entire militia units field together.

The failure of the majority of American towns and suburbs to uphold and maintain their own militia is a disgrace...the "national guard" is not your states militia, it's a federal mandate system that subverts a states rights to defend themselves.

It's sad that history isn't told anymore. My past teachers would even teach me stuff from the past that the school didn't require us to learn. I was taught about the natives, slaves (all races), and the minute men. I always thought the minute men were sooooo gangster. Just imagine sleeping, having a great dream, and them BOOM, and you have to gear up in less than a minute. Awesome.

Me. It's myth. Anyone who has read American history knows the Minutemen and the Militia were unreliable. You don't even have to look very hard to find it. Washington, Gates and Greene all said so. They'd know because they were the ones who had to whip them (literally) into shape. More often than not, the Minutemen and the Militia ran from professional soldiers. The modern day image of the minuteman is a creation of the American gun lobby.

If know that you're more than likely are sick and tired about hearing about Fallout 4, BUT, you should make a video doing a compare and contrast between the REAL Minutemen and the Fallout Minutemen. I feel as if if would be an interesting subject. We have the real-world Minutemen of the American Revolution and the Minutemen of the post-apocalyptic world founding their organization after the real ones. You (or if you're apart of a group, I don't really know sorry) are so knowledgeable about this subject and I have learned lots. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, and if you're reading this, thank you for your time. Keep up the good work.
