Stewart is the guy. Like Selwood, he's a guy you'd run through a brick wall for.

They'll either do Stewart for a year or two, then Max Holmes, or just go Holmes straight away to lead the club for a decade or so.

Left field option but I reckon you'd have to have Atkins ad a vice captain

Holmes couldn't even get back on the field in the prelim because he was scared that he'd tear his hammy and miss the grand final again. Mentally soft. Not the right choice for captain.

How is being concerned about tearing your hamstring correlate to being mentally weak? 😂

The kids run faster because they're a few kilos lighter as well. They might be running top 5 first or second year but they all fall back in the pack when they put muscle on.

It is interesting. Bevo is always just holding on. He needs a Prelim win to hold his job. But all the commentators say he would walk into another job. Why? Just because he won a Premiership in 2016 that was tainted by incredible one sided umpiring. Even Luke Darcy said at half time if that had continued the Premiership would have been forever tainted. He believed The bias was so bad. The count of 16-3 at half time was astounding. Even the AFL said this was the worst umpiring display in a GF. The final count, 20-8. Without the umpires the result could have been far different. But Bevo will always be a Premiership coach. Some pundits see his methodology as strange & confusing though.

Seriously? He’s one of the most bland hosts I’ve ever seen, can barely watch that after game show he’s on, he has 0 opinions and always looks like he doesn’t want to be there. He’s only on because they couldn’t get anyone else.

Agree he’s so bland and boring. Funny how he’s from sa yet neither club has wanted anything to do with him. Does media cos he literally has no other prospects.

Love Stewart but I think he's too old to take the role. They need a younger leader.
@fadyalam6712Күн бұрын
Absolutely not, a leader is someone that has experience and can pass that on to his players, young captains rarely work out, allow them to develop, they don't need the extra pressure.
@leighmurrell5494Күн бұрын
@@fadyalam6712 I hope you whispered that in Joel Selwood's ear when he was appointed captain at 23:)
@fadyalam6712Күн бұрын
@leighmurrell5494 Joey Selwood was a clear exception, he was a natural leader, his half time address in the race during the 09 grand final shows this, that's why there was a stand named after him at 35, the exception is not the rule.
@leighmurrell5494Күн бұрын
@@fadyalam6712 Yes, he was and still is an exceptional leader and human being. That being said also does not mean that there is not another exceptional young player who could step up to be captain. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Stewart and would be very happy if he was made captain but given his age, he won't hold the job for long.
@fadyalam6712Күн бұрын
@leighmurrell5494 I don't see a stand out in this current crop that I could comfortably say that they should be the next captain, it's the best man for the job, good leadership can be the difference between a prelim and granny, even if it's for a few years.
