I have to disagree with making Shadow's voice really deep. He has never really had an insanely deep voice. I think which ever actor they choose should be able to give off and edgy/ angsty vibe that doesn't go too over the top that you can't take him seriously.

Okay, so these are my opinions for some of the voice l've picked to be here: Keanu Reeves - Is a bit older to play Shadow, even though he's suppose to be played that way. Jason Mamoa - He's perfect! I'm sorry, but he genuinely sounded so good. Robert Patterson - He sounded similar to the OG Shadow VA. Which l'm sure if it's good or not. Oscar Isaac - Now he could match Sonic's VA by being a little younger, like a teen for say (although l'm not sure how old is Shadow exactly, but l'm assuming he's suppose to be similar to sonic), but still sounding intimadating without taking away his tragic and serious backstory he has. Sam Whitwer - Everything you said about this guy is exactly my thoughts here. Pedro Pascal - Good thing l've searched for the Mandolorian lines to see Pedro's acting here.. And for real, he's not a bad choice either. He's just like Oscar Isaac in terms of having a slightly younger voice to match the teen side of Sonic, but without taking away his seriousness. Will Arnett (dude, you've pronounced his name wrong 🤣) - I've heard rumors he was gonna voice Shadow in this movie and l'm sorta mixed here. He's not bad, but not good either. (The rest of the actors are either not my type or just "meh" territory)

This is my theory: Cary Elwes will voice Shadow. Cary is confirmed as part of the cast of the Knuckles series, but his role is currently under wraps. Since the Knuckles show is supposed to tie into Sonic 3, there is a possibility that Shadow will make a cameo appearance in the series. If that's the case, considering his work as Dr. Gordon in "Saw", and as Denlinger in "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One", I believe that Cary could nail the voice of Shadow, and be cast as him in both the Knuckles series and Sonic 3.

I feel that some people forget that while Shadow is 50+ chronologically, he's around Sonic's age both physically and mentally, he didn't age at all in that tube so hearing him with a deep voice next to Ben Schwartz's Sonic who sounds relatively youthful would be odd. Keanu Reeves seems to be the most popular casting choice here, and not doubting that he's an awesome dude, but he's not that great of a pick once you start thinking about it rationally. He's pushing 60 and it'd make more sense to cast someone younger for a long-running series like this, his voice is too raspy, and most importantly he lacks acting chops to portray someone like Shadow who besides being dark and broody requires an emotional side given his tragic backstory, in every serious/dramatic role I've seen Keanu in he's never been particularly good. The whole idea of him playing Shadow exists soletly due to typecasting, 'he played badass edgy roles before, he did great as Neo/John Wick so he'd fit as Shadow', Shadow requires a bit more than just being cool. Robert Pattinson is the second most popular fancast, and while I admit that he'd definetely be a better pick than Keanu, I wouldn't say he's a great one either, the only thing Batman and Shadow have in common is that they both have witnessed deaths of their loved ones, their goals are completely different (at least at the beginning), one's a masked vigilante who wants to put an end to all the crime in Gotham, the other is a military experiment gone wrong who's goal is to exterminate the humanity, that and his made-up Batman voice would not work that well for Shadow as he should sound more natural, Shadow isn't trying to hide his identity. Not saying that Robert couldn't do it, he's a talented actor who's recently showcased his impressive vocal range in 'The Boy and the Heron' so he could possibly find a fitting voice for Shadow, I wouldn't mind him at all in the role, I just wished that Shadow voice discussions didn't boil down to mainly him and Keanu only, there are other underrated actors who could fit the part as well. Not trying to be a party pooper, just trying to be realistic and pointing out not so apparent flaws of some of the fancastings. That being said, whoever is chosen to voice Shadow I hope he does a great job.

I think most of these are solid choices that could be a good spin on Shadow if given the right direction. Though one thing I have to get off my chest. Sonic fans need to forget the notion that a previous Shadow actor will play him in the movie. Colleen as Tails in the movies was a perfect storm since she voiced him in the post credits scene and the second movie also had Knuckles to be the celebrity voice. As of right now Shadow seems to be the only game character in the new film so they’ll likely want a celebrity voice to use as a marketing tool. I’d love to see Jason Griffith back as much as the next guy but it’s just not gonna happen in the movies
